    SHE Chief Safety Officer


    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • This position will render a service to SASOL Mining- Sasol Coal Supply Plant to enable, support and facilitate the safe and responsible execution of Mining operations towards zero harm and sustainability through a proactive safety approach

    FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS

    Manager Reservoir Management and Subsurface

    Short Description/ Purpose of Job

    • The role manages and directs well and field activity related to subsurface reservoir management activities in Mozambique.  This role will be responsible for executing the global standards and guidelines in field reservoir management practices.  The role contributes to making quality business decisions by providing fit for purpose solutions to subsurface challenges in the area of petroleum and reservoir engineering including monitoring well & reservoir performance, managing well stock to deliver gas nominations, production database management, reservoir simulations, short-term production forecasting, consolidating technical documentation and leading well intervention/surveillance activities and recommendations, mentoring and developing engineers-in-training and/or petroleum / reservoir engineers.   This managerial position will manage a subsurface team of petroleum/reservoir engineers and geoscientists. The role requires the interaction with several departments including production, maintenance, well delivery, well services, well testing and external stakeholders and is not limited to a single Asset.

    The role has a leadership component in working with all Assets and subsurface specialists including other team members to ensure that appropriate data is gathered and processed, suitable models are built and calibrated, potential solutions evaluated and recommendations made. Long term strategic but mainly short-term tactical (operational and budgetary) focus is required.

    Manage and organise the following

    • Develop a sound understanding of [discipline] engineering generalist knowledge and sound understanding with regards to process equipment (e.g. design and safe operation thereof).
    • Develop selected detailed knowledge in defined fields of [discipline] engineering.
    • Be able to define a business opportunities, by using the correct indicators.
    • Be able to define business risks, applying the business risk assessment tools such as the probability risk ranking matrix, specific job risk assessment, etc.
    • Support the execution (follow technical instruction to enable) of an engineering scope of work for small multidisciplinary projects (i.e. Tier)
    • Support and follow instructions to execute the operation, design, engineering, development and/or modification of processes/equipment in accordance with sound established engineering principles and standards to satisfy business requirements.
    • Correctly preform Technical and Economic evaluations of small projects, ideas and modifications.
       

    Qualifications and experience required 

    • The position requires a minimum of a Mechanical Engineering: Bsc / BEng Mechanical Engineering
    • with limited or no practical experience.Final year applicants will be considered.

    Artisan: Electro Mechanic/Millwright x50

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    • This position will be in support of Full Calender Operation (Fulco)
    • An Artisan/Senior Artisan is responsible for the management of the maintenance process in the area of responsibility, to enable mining teams to reach production targets within the principles of the QCDSM. 

    FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS

    • Manage control and maintain equipment in area of responsibility
    • Safety management and risk assessment
    • Ensure that COPs and SOPs are understood and adhered to
    • Identify ISO standards
    • Accurate and realistic maintenance and overall plan and budget
    • Ensure maximum availability and reliability of equipment
    • Conformance to all legal statutory and Sasol requirements
    • Provide specific expertise and in-section coaching and training and complex repairs
    • Evaluate personnel training needs schedule for training
    • Coach sub-ordinates towards requirements for next highest level

    REQUIREMENTS: 

    Qualifications and expertise required (Must)

    • Grade 12/N3 (or equivalent) both with Maths, Science and English/Business English
    • NQF 4 Trade Test (Valid EM Trade Test Certificate – Qualified EM/Millright)  
    • Flame proofing and gas testing where applicable
    • Fault finding experience
    • Knowledge of the work management process and implementation thereof (wish)  
    • Understand and use the plant/mine maintenance documentation system, etc job cards, task list notification               
    • Understand failure modes of discipline specific equipment
    • Computer literate (wish)
    • Coal Mining Underground experience (Fiery mine experience) is an added advantage

    • 2+ relevant years
