Technician: Electrical at Sasol

ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• To provide technical support to maintenance managers and foreman by applying theoretical skills and making suggestions and independently implementing solutions to optimize systems.
• Responsible for implementing short, medium and long term projects and for developing and implementing systems and maintenance strategies.
• Effective maintenance of the plant to ensure availability and reliability of the plant equipment and facilities. Maintenance responsibilities will be coordinated through preventative and corrective maintenance strategies
   

FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS

• Good knowledge of electrical systems (motors, switchgear, transformers, protection, power electronics, cables etc.)
• Ability to do fault finding and commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Attend FAT’s and SAT’s to ensure conformity to Sasol standards.
• Root cause investigations with good report writing skills.
• Develop, review and optimize maintenance procedures.
• Condition monitoring of electrical systems.
• Perform Standby duties.
• Perform switching actions on electrical network.
• Support during execution of projects (Renewal and Capital).
• Manage plant support activities and ensure plant integrity and stability.
• Good communication skills and customers focused.
• Compile and update switching and maintenance procedures.
• Develop and manage QA/QC procedures to improve assets reliability at Electrical equipment.
• Management of Change compliance.
• Continuous improvement of Maintenance (Engineering Out Maintenance).
• Develop and manage small projects or modifications from conceptual phase to implementation while ensuring adherence Sasol specifications.
• Conduct Potential Deviation Analysis (PDA’s).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• In addition to a pre-employment medical examination this position may require a physical fitness assessment as part of the normal selection criteria.
• Valid driver’s license

Qualifications:

• National senior Certificate/N3 with Maths, Science & English
• National Diploma S4 (Electrical Engineering)
   

Experience:

•  Completed P2 in- service training.
