    Discipline Mechanical Engineering - Postmasburg

    Purpose

    • Manage, implement, and optimise mechanical engineering services professionally and effectively, adhering to all safety and legislative requirements

    Your duties will include:

    • Promptly investigate all incidents.

    Job Description:
    Purpose

    • The purpose is to lead the design and implementation of all electrical and instrumentation engineering works, ensuring integration between the different disciplines within the business and providing operational support relating to the electrical and instrumentation disciplines.

    Safety Officer Surface ( Fixed Term Contract)

    Job Description:
    Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Ensure implementation of the AAP ORMP
    • Coordinate the External SHE System Certification Audit.
    • Plan and ensure the Implementation of operational SHE Legal Compliance Assessments.
    • Facilitate the implementation of an operational audit schedule on critical areas to ensure the elimination of Fatal Incidents, Major Potential Incidents, and High Potential Incidents (AFRS, Risk Assurance, Fatal Close Out, Section 54 close out, technical reviews).
    • Implement the required SHE Risk & Assurance system procedures, systems and standards.

    • Monitor the performance of cost engineering systems and processes to evaluate if changes are necessary and/or effective.

    • Review and check contractors’ qualifications and training prior the engagement of contractors.
    • Review and approve Supplier Basic SHE files and approving files in capable approved computer system.
    • Providing expert guidance and taking the responsibility for verifying compliance to SHE systems within the onboarding hub.
    • Conducting value-adding SHE compliance inspections and audits to assess the safety and hygiene to ensure that the onboarding center complies with all applicable legislations i.e. OHSA, Building regulations etc.
    • Following up on SHE corrective actions, including those necessary to close out.
    • Develop, review, implement and enforce onboarding procedures. 
    • Be involved in the review of training matrix for all relevant positions.
    • Attend project’s kick-off meetings and provide guidance on onboarding requirements.
    • Liaise with the emergency response department and coordinate emergency drills and awareness training for the onboarding center. 
    • This role is at a Band 7 level reporting to the Section Manager Onboarding

    Qualifications:

    • Tertiary degree or diploma in Technical, Safety, Health, Environment or Risk

    Desirable:

    • COMSOC I & II or SAMTRAC
    • Courses in Safety management systems ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 would be advantageous updated

    Experience:

    Strata Control Officer C5

    Job Description:
    The focus for this role will be to:

    • Undertake regular underground visits to monitor compliance to standards and to outline areas with possible strata control problems.
    • Carry out appropriate rock engineering measurement and input relevant data into plans and layouts.
    • Liaise with the Shift Supervisors to determine their individual needs according to operational plans or problems encountered and monitor underground conditions and reporting to the Shaft Rock Engineer.
    • Provide guideline management in standards for section safety and performance and assist with the reviewing of mining layouts.
    • Monitor legal conformance to procedures and standards in terms of rock engineering responsibilities and participate in the investigation of relevant rock engineering related incidents and accidents e.g. Codes of Practice during Pit and underground visits. 
    • Support and assist the Shaft Rock Engineer with monthly risk assessments and rock engineering information for reporting. 
    • Regular Rock Mass Ratings during underground visits to build up a database, monitor and report stability of underground workings and assist with testing rock properties.
    • This role is in the MRM Department at a C5 level reporting to the Shaft Rock Engineer.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science is required.
    • Certificate in Strata Control is required. 

    Experience & technical skills required:  

    • 1 year experience in Strata Control within a Conventional Mining environment. 
    • Computer literate in MS Office.

    Explosives Coordinator

    Job Description:

    • The Explosives Coordinator will be the legally appointed representative and the custodian of explosives utilisation at the operation. This role supports the role of the Explosives Licensee (General Manager), with the responsibility and accountability of ensuring legal compliance, continuous improvement and the effectiveness of the Explosives Management System.
    • In this role you will be the contact person between an operation, the local Inspector of Explosives, Department of Mineral and Energy, manufacturers and suppliers of explosives and blasting systems.
    • Below are some of the key responsibilities you will be required to execute.
    • Foster a safety culture through effective and authorized operational systems/processes, ensuring all employees and contractors operate in a risk-controlled environment.
    • Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles across all disciplines, taking personal responsibility for safety to achieve zero harm and eliminate fatalities.
    • Establish objectives and targets for explosives control.
    • Implement the Anglo Platinum explosives strategy.
    • Submit required reports for the operation to corporate and external bodies.
    • Conduct independent reviews of all accidents and incidents.
    • Develop and manage talent within the explosives department.
    • Represent the operation in relevant forums with prior approval.
    • Ensure explosives licenses and permits are regularly reviewed, updated, and re-submitted to CIE/DME for licensing, approval, or re-issuing.
    • Ensure all personnel are adequately trained, certified, and empowered to manage hazards, safe working procedures, and comply with all applicable legislation, standards, and procedures.
    • Conduct periodic full discipline audits and procedural reviews of all protocols related to explosives manufacturing.
    • Ensure all explosives pumps, mixing devices, and other equipment involved in the preparation, manufacturing, placement, or discharging of explosives are fully compliant before use.
    • This role is in the Projects and SHE - Safety OPS department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Mineral Resource Manager.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12
    • Management training sufficient to support experience profile and job requirements
    • Magazine Master Certificate registered with C.I.E
    • Drivers Licence with PrDP
    • SAPS Criminal Record Clearance

    Advantageous:

    • Blasting Ticket/Rock Breaker’s certificate of competence with a Mine Overseers Certificate
    • On appointment, need to obtain a Certificate in Explosives Management within two years
