    Student Governance and Development Administrator

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • M+3 year qualification in office management / administration / education /social sciences or any other related field.
    • 2-3 years’ experience in University Administration.
    • Knowledge of ITS system.
    • Experience in Student Affairs Division
    • Driver’s license

    COMPETENCIES

    • Negotiation, conflict resolution and mediation skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with people at all levels.
    •  Project management skills.
    • Excellent work ethics and willingness to work long hours.
    • Good minutes taking and report writing skills.
    • Knowledge of budgeting processes
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft package.
    • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.

    DUTIES:

    • SGDU Office administration.
    • Compile monthly reports.
    • Perform secretarial duties (arranging meetings, making appointments, preparing attendance register, agendas and minutes, distribution of documents etc.)
    • Assist with drafting of policies and other important documents.
    •  Booking of venues for meetings, workshops and seminars.
    • Administer logistics for events/functions in compliance with Supply Chain Management Policies (e.g. quotations for catering, uniforms, accommodation, car rentals and other office needs)
    •  Process invoices, claims and reimbursement in the unit.
    •  Purchase and order office supplies, groceries, including office stationery and equipments. 
    • Assist student governance formations with their day-to-day administrative duties.

    Senior Secretary: Office of the Registrar

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Matric plus 3 years post-matric qualification at NQF Level 7 (or equivalent)
    • 5 years Administration/Secretarial experience in Higher Education or similar setting
    • Evidence of training/working knowledge of ITS systems
    • Knowledge of University processes, policies, and systems

    Advantages:

    • Ability to demonstrate initiative, excellent organizational and public relations skills, as well as capacity to function independently, meet deadlines, communicate well (written and verbally)
    • Good interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team
    • Responsibilities include:
    • Management of the office and diary of the Registrar
    • Provide an effective interface between the Registrar’ office and all levels of the University community.
    • Meetings, event coordination and management including administration of the relevant meetings in the Department (agenda compilation, minutes and reports)
    • Office Administration including Secretarial (Personal Assistant)
    • Drafts routine and standard notices, circulars etc for the Registrar’s signature and arranges for dissemination of the same.
    • Plans and organizes the Registrar’s time, calling for information and subsequent initiation and preparation of occasions set in the diary. 
    • Prepares the Registrar’s diary annually according to the University Calendar, and in accordance with the Registrar’s specific requirements and internal planning
    • Maintains a pending system for follow-up of previous correspondence and passes items to the Registrar, the Executive Operations Manager or the Deputy Registrar’s, as the case may be for follow-up action
    • Liaises with all persons reporting to the Registrar’s office for whatever reason (visitors, staff and students) on a wide variety of matters
    • Ensures all Council, Management and Senate Committees are always fully constituted
    • Managing travel and accommodation logistics for the Registrar.
    • Administrative follow up on financial and HR matters of the Department

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   

    • Doctorate (LLD) in Law.
    • At least five (5) years teaching experience in higher education.
    • A track record of DHET accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of senior lecturer.
    • Post-graduate supervision experience at least at Master’s level.

    • Registration with professional / scientific bodies.
    • Post admission experience either as an Advocate or an Attorney.

    KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

    • Teaching and learning within the department.

    • Ability to work independently.
    • Strict observance to ethical principles and academic integrity.
    • Suitable ability to mentor junior staff or colleagues.
    • Supervise post-graduate research.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES :

    • CA (SA); and
    • Registered for a Masters degree in Accounting or related field.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
