    Financial Planner Constantia

    What will you do?

    • The purpose of the role is to provide new and existing clients with professional and relevant financial advice, planning and products (sales) that are suited to their needs and requirements. Undertake the procurement of sustainable business of a high quality, in accordance with the business targets set. Maintain and service these clients as part of a long- term relationship which builds loyalty to the brand and generates ongoing advice and sales.

    Client Service

    Job Purpose

    • To be responsible for giving support to the Regional Manager offering excellent client service support and to maintain and grow relationships.

    Key Outcomes

    The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the International Business Consultant:

    Business Consultant: Client Services

    What will you do?

    • Glacier has an internal consultancy business, Business Change, within the Business Solutions team. This function is responsible for assisting the business in translating their strategic intent into strategic initiatives, conceptual designs, target operating models and business cases. These in turn lead to projects that establish the required business models or solutions to realise the conceptual designs.
    • The business consultant role drives the conceptual phases of the process, sets up the necessary initiatives and ensures that these initiatives deliver on the business cases. The successful candidate will be dedicated to the Client Services division within Glacier. 

    Key outcomes

    The following will be expected from the Business Consultant:

    • Analyse the Glacier business growth strategy and identify suitable initiatives and solutions to align and realise the strategic intent
    • Drive innovation initiatives and investigations to find suitable alternatives to business challenges
    • Develop conceptual solutions and alternatives for solving key business problems. This typically covers areas such as:
    • Understanding key business drivers and KPI’s
    • Strategies to realise desired outcomes
    • Target operating model and capability requirements
    • Staff and budget impacts 
    • Alignment with Sanlam & Glacier’s strategy and business architecture
    • Assist in developing Business Cases and Benefit Realisation Plans where required

    Functional Division Executive

    What will you do?

    • The MD of Glacier International is a member of the Glacier Executive Committee and will be responsible for managing the Glacier International business as a whole, the Bermuda Branch of Sanlam Life Ltd, as well as any other structures that form part of the Glacier International investment offering (for example, the Glacier International component of the Jersey business of Sanlam). In conjunction with this, as part of the executive team, the role is expected to contribute significantly to the growing and driving of the broader Glacier’s business development, portfolio growth and organizational growth strategies. 
    • As it is currently established, the international business shares capabilities with other parts of Glacier Holdings and also has directly managed areas, on a different IT system and with various services outsourced to third party administrators.
    • The role is expected to manage direct teams, focused on business development, operations and client services, outsourced third party administration relationships, and to source, manage and influence services provided by other parts of Glacier and the wider Sanlam Group. These functions include identifying growth opportunities, whether these be on a stand-alone basis or in collaboration with other Glacier departments, and to strategically drive and position Glacier’s international proposition for future relevance. 
    • Ultimately, the current purpose of the role is to ensure that Glacier has a relevant and profitable international business that contributes to the broader Glacier businesses strategy in a manner that is in keeping with the values and culture of the company.

    KEY OUTCOMES 


    The following outcomes will be expected from the Executive: 

    • Formulate and communicate Glacier International’s vision and strategy. 
    • Responsible for business planning, budgeting and resourcing the GI client servicing, business solutions, investment administration and product sales teams. Also responsible for sourcing and managing services that can be provided more effectively by the wider business. 
    • Responsible for the development and management of outsourced third-party administration services and providers, as well as distribution partnerships.

    Head: Business Intelligence and Analytics

    What will you do?

    • Continue to support a data-informed organization by delivering business information and insights through the application of reporting and advanced analytics solutions that ultimately enrich business decisions at all levels within the organization.
    • Responsible for transforming the BI target operating model, architecture, and platform in accordance with the Glacier and Sanlam vision to ensure a sustainable competitive advantage. Ensuring that the data products and services continuously support the Glacier business and other Sanlam Life and Savings businesses.
    • Additionally, this role represents the organization on various committees related to strategic projects, data, analytics and governance, driving initiatives that support overall business objectives and growth.

    Strategic contribution 

    • Understand, implement, and support the Glacier business strategy.

    Glacier BI Operating Model and Platform.

    • Lead the establishment of a modern Glacier BI platform leveraging existing and emerging Group capabilities.
    • The Glacier BI operating model and architecture needs to support both traditional reporting requirements as well as advanced analytics requirements to enhance business decisions, both operationally and strategically.
    • Evolve the Glacier BI platform and team to continue to meet the changing needs of the business as it transforms itself to remain competitive in its chosen markets.

    Glacier BI Project and Delivery Management

    • Translate strategic focus areas into a business demand pipeline of BI workloads and experiments. 
    • Oversee and steer the delivery of BI workloads and experiments, using an agile delivery methodology, in accordance with time and budgetary commitments.
    • Responsible for implementing best practices, standards and guidelines ensuring that best solutions and designs are implemented in alignment with Glacier and the Sanlam Group’s business intelligence principals for effective consumption and use of all enterprise data assets.

    BI Operations 

    • Manage and oversee the service model and relevant service level agreements with Sanlam Group Technology Data Platform team.
    • Manage the engagements with the Sanlam Group Technology teams to deliver its contracted services in line with the relevant service level agreements.
    • Manage and oversee an appropriate budgeting and cost recovery model with Sanlam Group Technology and Sanlam Business Intelligence. 
    • Manage and oversee financial commitment, appropriate budgeting and cost recovery model from businesses making use of the Glacier BI assets and services (like SanlamConnect). 
    • Drive the continuous improvement of the BI platform and operational capability to facilitate optimal long-term total cost of ownership.
    • Ensure that data management practices are in line with Statutory, Regulatory, Audit and Risk expectations.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred in a Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, Engineering or related field.
    • 5 to 7 years relevant operational or project related experience in data, analysis and/or reporting. 
    • 5 to 7 years in positions requiring executive level influence and personally operating at senior management level would be advantageous. History of presenting to Executives, Senior Managers and Heads from other clusters and business units as well as regulatory bodies and end clients would required.
    • Experience of applying BI in a Wealth Management or Investment business context would be advantageous.
    • Hands-on experience with leading teams in Business Analytics, data engineering, data modelling and data governance. 
    • Sound knowledge of data modelling (Kimball Preferred) and statistics. Familiarity with analytics, statistical & visualization tools.
    • Solid ability to examine large quantities of data, derive useful patterns, and turn that 
    • observation into practical insights. 
    • Able to work using a multitude of disparate data sources and tools; working out of a data warehouse or from smaller imperfect datasets. Comfortable working with at least one data querying language (SQL, SPARK, etc).
    • Exposure to the following would be highly advantageous: SAP Hana, SAP Business Objects, Cloudera, Power BI, Snowflake, Python, SQL, Microsoft Excel and AWS.
