    Pre Sales Engineer SA

    Description

    Responsible for the scoping, development, implementation and pricing of technical solutions in terms of Electrical, Mechanical capacity and the White Space layout for customer requests that are deemed complex or require customisation to meet the customer’s need.

     The scoping responsibility entails engaging with the relevant sales representatives and, at times directly with our customers, to develop a sound understanding of their current business and technical challenges as well as the strategies that are currently employed – these are all encapsulated in a problem statement.

     The overall objective of the role is to assist the sales team in larger and more complex opportunities from a technical and commercial perspective: understanding the customer requirement, selecting data centres, halls, and allocating white space whilst checking capacity and resources required and managing ADC’s suppliers from a technical and commercial perspective.

     Further capabilities of the role pertain to how relevant aspects of customized solutions can be used to enhance existing products/services or develop new ones, thereby 

    Key Performance Area

    • Solution Design Architecture
    • Act as a member of an interdepartmental, highly skilled technical team responsible for all aspects of Complex Solutions designs from concept to development, implementation/integration, launch and on-going product management requirements. Directly project manage the responses to complex RFXs.

    Provide technical leadership and personnel management for the development and support of Complex Solutions that will support all Sales segments

    Operations

    • Establish a framework for Complex Solutions proposals and monitor their success and opportunities for enhancements from a technical, commercial perspective
    • Improve the quality and success rate for complex and customer-specific solutions and solution responses within defined timeframes.

    Fulfilment

    In conjunction with Operations, Product and Projects ensure fulfilment of all aspects of complex solution design process with focus on the following:

    • Feasibility and accuracy of the fulfilment of customer technical requirements by managing the technical relationship with all partners.
    • Part of for the Go/No-Go decisions for complex bids.
    • Creation and management of a short business case and feasibility process to address short turnaround time for complex Bids/RFPs/RFIs.

    Cross Functional Engagements

    • Researches and understands industry specific technology/digital trends including disruptive technologies and industry best practice
    • Consult and provide input to the development team on new design projects and remedial work based on customer feedback and customer implementation project experience.

    Requirements

    Formal Qualifications Required

    • 3 or 4-year BSc Engineering, BEng or in a related discipline or equivalent i.e. B-Tech, N6, NFQ 7 equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering.

    Job Related Experience Required

    • Minimum 4 years' experience in technical field of which to be operating in the capacity of a specialist: Electrical, Mechanical engineering, Data Centre management, IT, Solution Architecture, Pre-Sales engineering etc
    • Minimum 3 years solutions technical experience (UPS, Generators, Cooling, Racking, Data Centres, Containment, Modular Data Centres, etc.)
    • Minimum 3 years solution design and architecture experience.

    Job Related Knowledge Required

    • Knowledge and experience in designing,supporting and optimisation of cooling technologies including air flow management, chilled water and DX systems
    • Knowledge of power systems including UPS,Switchgear, transfer switches, power distribution,efficiency, wiring, ect.
    • Understanding diverse customer business requirements over all segments of business sectors and the ability to translate these requirements to define and architect specified solutions across technologies and products and services.
    • Knowledge of complex and customer specific solutions architecture, design and development for e.g. fixed mobile convergence, triple or quad play services, unified communications and Telephony, cloud services, Data centre services, SDWAN, NFV, Connectivity, Networking, Security etc

    Specialist: Project Manager - Midrand

    Role Purpose

    The Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing, controlling, coordinating and ultimately delivering all the activities related to the implementation of internal cross functional projects across the organization, to ensure that projects are completed in compliance with the necessary standards and specifications. The Project Manager must have a full overview of the project requirements ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget and of high-quality standards.

    Role Description

    • Consult with internal Customers to develop a scope, project plan and a stakeholder list.
    • Nurture business relationships with staff and Management to ensure cross functional collaboration.
    • Draft a Project Charter / Project Initiation document / Scope of Work Statement with the Project Sponsor.
    • Ensure that planning and implementations of plans gets carried out at the most optimal way possible by continuous engagement with resources.
    • Customize dashboards and management strategies (Risk, Communication, Quality & Configuration) to enable visibility for all involved stakeholders throughout the project.
    • Ensure project sponsor is well informed of any Risk, Issues and Dependencies by regular feedback. Provide timeous feedback on queries and project related issues.
    • Track and manage project requirements during the project lifecycle and incorporate changes to requirements through an established change management process.
    • Contribute to intellectual property by documenting and logging all project information in the appropriate knowledge base – lesson learnt
    • Implementing the governance framework for all projects which include post implementation review .
    • Ensure all projects are managed and executed as per the Liquid Intelligent Technologies South Africa Project Management Methodology.Utilise relevant templates for Project Management documentation and artefacts
    • Track basic project costs to ensure that the project remains within set perimeters. 
    • Deliver projects as per the scope, schedule, cost and agreed criteria by continuous engagement with the project team.
    • Support the execution of required testing namely process and / or user acceptance testing.
    • Accurately identify, manage and/or escalate project risks and issues to the project sponsor
    • Ensure that the delivery of task is in line with the project plan by continuous monitoring.
    • Work closely with the business and in some cases external service providers to deliver against project outputs.
    • Lead the project team in and act as the liaison between various departments by ensuring all outputs from projects are of an excellent quality.
    • Lead and facilitate project board and team meetings.
    • Provide regular updates on the progress of the project and provide necessary support to all project stakeholders.
    • Successfully hand over project output for incorporation as business as usual.
    • Comply and adhere with the change, risk and issue management processes and ensure records maintained.
    • Comply and adhere with existing governance processes and ensure all artefacts and project documents are signed-off and stored for audit purposes.
    • Continuously improve on project governance processes and ascertain buy-in from Business and PMO Manager by recommending improvements.

    • Provide status updates as agreed at planning stage, report on risks and issues as required based on impact on the project. Upload all Project Governance Artefacts to the Central Repository

    Requirements

    • Relevant industry certification (e.g. PMP, Prince2, PMBOK): Essential
    • Related University degree advantageous (e.g. B degree in Commerce or IT or appropriate NQF level qualification): Desirable
    • Business Analysis qualification: Desirable
    • 3-5 years demonstrated experience in leading project teams: Essential
    • 3-5 years telecommunication or ICT experience in managing projects: Essential
    • 3-5 years' experience at successfully managing challenging projects: Essential
    • 3-5 years has proven, relationship, communication and presentation skills: Essential
    • 3-5 years Influence and manage all project stakeholders to get to the end goal: Essential
