    Professor/ Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer (M609, M621 & 375)

    Minimum requirements

    • PhD or equivalent NQF level 10 qualification in engineering, with an undergraduate qualification in Mechanical or mechatronic engineering.
    • At least 10 years of teaching/professional experience.
    • Evidence of a sustained scholarly track record in the form of international peer-reviewed publications, with at least 10 DHET-accredited research outputs in the past 3 years.
    • Evidence of sustained successful postgraduate supervision at Masters and Doctorate level, with at least 3 Doctoral and 5 Masters students supervised to completion.
    • Involvement in industry-based research, community engagement, and the ability to attract external funding.
    • Evidence of sustained external funding.

    Strategic Intelligence Officer

    Minimum Requirements:                                   

    • A 4-year relevant qualification in the natural/mathematical sciences
    • 5-8 years relevant experience in information management/data science/Data engineering/Computer Science of which 3-4 years ideally within the strategic planning function.
    • Data mining and predictive data modelling.
    • Advanced excel proficiency.
    • Data warehousing and business intelligence platforms.

     Summary of Duties:

    • Develop modelling eg forecasting models to discover trends, opportunities and threats based on the available university data to shape strategic intelligence for decision making.

    • Work with IPME IR, Planning and MEL team to identify opportunities for leveraging institutional data to drive business solutions.
    • Monitor institutional performance against strategic goals as presented in the strategic plan and Annual Performance Plan (APP) and Extended Annual Performance Plan (EAPP).
    • Provide strategic data support to all relevant committees and data analytics for any ad hoc request.
    • Responsible for the running of data integrity tests and reports on sources of data in order to determine any limitations in terms of reliability or usability.
    • Capture and organize data to track strategy implementation progress across all levels of DUT.
    • Formats and restructures data for reports and designs and presents management information reports (data and narrative; data visualizations; dashboards; presentations, etc) on DUT’s operational and strategic performance for internal and external stakeholders, where such reports maybe investigative, ad-hoc and compliance reports to assist in enhancing learning for decision-making.
    • Deliver reports and presentations of findings to the university community and external stakeholders in a way that can be easily understood by diverse background people.
