    Business Solutions Support Analyst FMD

    Brief description (main purpose of the job)

    To provide systems-related configuration and business support to users of critical domestic business systems within the Financial Markets Department.

    Detailed description (objectives – consider most important)

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, among other things, the following key performance areas:

    • Define and interpret business needs and requirements as well as compile functional specifications for new and existing business solutions for FMD.  
    • Coordinate, guide and oversee the implementation and change management of new solutions, enhancements and upgrades to existing systems, in consultation with stakeholders, to ensure alignment with business needs and requirements (business processes, reports, upgrades, patches and fixes).
    • Maintain the master data on FMD domestic systems to ensure its integrity. 
    • Guide and manage system testing as well as verify testing results against the defined test-case criteria. 
    • Provide ad hoc training as well as guide and oversee externally provided training and support on all functional system changes to internal and external users of the systems, including commercial banks.

    Job requirements

    Senior Engineer - Fire Systems CSD

    Brief description

    The main purpose of this position is to lead and manage the core engineering strategy, processes, scope design and optimisation of fire systems across the entities of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Group, as well as enhance engineering value through appropriate technology selection, application and prudent maintenance techniques.

    Detailed description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Conceptualise and plan the technical scope of critical (built environment) projects and manage quality output (from design to testing/commissioning) according to agreed user requirement specifications or the SARB’s engineering or real estate strategy. 
    • Draft a maintenance strategy, work/engineering instructions and standard operating procedures for technical equipment to ensure proper maintenance and the optimal use of assets through the asset life cycle management model. 
    • Ensure the optimal performance of the engineering plant by applying technical and safety standards, and act as the legal authority with respect to plant engineering. 
    • Conduct preliminary research or feasibility studies for the purpose of recommending or approving designs (or modifications) to improve efficiency to building systems or engineering machinery.
    • Draw and manage contracting models that inform service level standards/objectives or service level agreements for the performance of specialist service providers.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Electrotechnics);

    Data Engineer - BSTD

    Brief description 

    The main purpose of this position is to build, maintain and optimise business intelligence (BI) data pipelines that feed from various data systems across the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and enable the support of Data as a Service (DaaS) to the SARB. 

    Detailed description 

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas: 

    •  Implement data service standards and frameworks across the SARB to ensure optimised solutions and adherence to best practice, that is, data operations, development and operations as well as machine learning and operations. 
    •  Take responsibility for BI data pipelines and flows for domain specific analytic implementations across the SARB. 
    •  Ensure understanding of client’s data requirements in order to drive continuous development of data services and address evolving business needs.

    Information and Reporting Specialist - BSTD

    The main purpose of this position is to develop and execute an information-sharing strategy within the Business Solutions and Technology Department (BSTD) of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), and to coordinate the communication of information and reporting for the provision of a holistic and comprehensive view of BSTD’s strategy and programme performance.

    Maintenance Planner - DBN Cash Centre

    Brief description

    The main purpose of this position is to perform day-to-day planning, scheduling and coordination (issue and follow through on work orders) within the Engineering and Facilities Services divisions of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

    Detailed description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Plan daily capacity to optimise resources cost (labour, material and equipment) across the Engineering and Facilities Services divisions. 
    • Identify, plan and schedule different types of maintenance activities (i.e. breakdown maintenance, condition-based maintenance, and scheduled and operational (ad hoc) maintenance). 
    • Draw, issue and follow up on backlog work orders to ensure the timely dissemination of information to relevant team leaders. 
    • Perform daily and weekly planning (seven-day cycle), including sourcing materials (to reduce lead times) as per the work package, and gather information for the monthly report. 
    • Identify, purchase, update and manage the spares inventory for work orders and file the proper documentation. 
    • Manage the vehicle maintenance and procurement system as required for qualifying management staff, issue daily work orders and produce reports needed by the Financial Services Department. 
    • Develop cost and time estimates for planned and corrective (ad hoc) maintenance work. 
    • Manage and advise role players (mainly technicians and contractors) on the effective and standardised prioritisation of work (as per service level standards). 
    • Keep records of key documentation for maintenance activities and assist in configuration management activities as required for planning.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To be considered for this position, candidates must have: 

    • an N6 Technical Diploma in Engineering, or a National Diploma in Engineering or Industrial Engineering. 
    • a valid driver’s license. 
    • three to five years’ general work experience with one to three years’ experience as a technician or              technical planner. 
    • previous experience in working with multidisciplinary technical teams at various levels; and 
    • computer literate and able to work on Microsoft Office (MS Word and Excel).

    The main purpose of this position is to safeguard the assets of the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) Durban Cash Centre and facilitate cash transactions to ensure an adequate supply of acceptable-quality banknotes to the industry to meet public demand.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Develop detailed technical domain-specific BI technology and solution standards in adherence to, and in line with, enterprise architecture (EA) standards, strategy and product roadmaps. 
    • Translate business requirements into detailed solution designs and technical specifications, and guide the development of end-to-end BI solutions, ensuring that the implementation adheres to the specifications.
    • Guide product owners and application technical specialists on infrastructure, application configuration and software licensing requirements for implementation of the BI solutions.

    • As a subject matter expert, lead BI proofs of concept and prototypes when introducing new BI technologies into the SARB.
    • Continually review BI solution architectures and designs, and provide recommendations for improvement to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

    Job requirements

    To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:

    • a Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Management/Technology or an equivalent qualification;
    • at least five years’ experience in solutioning, designing and implementing complete BI solutions at an enterprise level; and
    • at least five years’ working experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). 

    The following would be an added advantage:

    • TOGAF and ITILv3 certifications;

    Detailed description
