    Lecturer in English Language Teaching

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and engaging in community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and faculties. Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University levels.

    The Requirements

    • A Master’s degree in Education or equivalent, preferably specializing in English Language Teaching.
    • A relevant PhD or significant progress towards a relevant PhD would be an advantage.
    • At least three years’ Senior and FET Phase Teaching or Teacher Education experience.
    • Ability to lecture in English Language Teaching and support in-service English teachers through lesson observations and workshops.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).
    • Ability to lecture on broader educational topics would be an advantage.
    • Ability to speak a South African language in addition to English.

    Readvertising: Multimedia and Web Developer (Grade 12)

    Main Objectives

    • To ensure the effective conceptualization, implementation and management of websites and social media content hosted by the School of JMS, in support of the schools teaching and learning activities as well as its professional engagement with stakeholders and communities of practice. As part of this, to collaborate with academic staff in the design, development, maintenance and enhancement of all JMS websites and oversee the implementation of new websites. Also, to work with academic staff in designing and managing the schools marketing and social media material. To provide necessary support and maintenance on all websites and webservers while ensuring adequate security measures are in place.

    The Requirements

    • 3-year degree/Diploma or equivalent (NQF Level 7) in Computer Science, Web Development, Graphic Design, Programming or IT with approximately 4 years’ experience (does not have to be concurrent and can be made up of in-house training, internship, project work whilst studying etc.), where such experience includes: -
    • Previous experience in website development.
    • Experience in multimedia design, Graphic design and editing (Video and animation).
    • Experience with MySQL server.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PremierPro).
    • Previous experience in working with ICT systems, particularly web servers, security and maintenance.
    • Development of web policy, systems and standards will be considered a distinct advantage.
    • Previous experience managing small to medium-sized projects or having managed parts of large projects.
    • Experience working in a Media Technology industry is an advantage.
    • Experience in social media marketing will be an advantage.

    Readvertising: Senior Manager: Financial Control (Grade 17)

    Main Objectives

    • As part of the management team of the Finance Division, the purpose of this job is to support the Director: Finance in developing and implementing strategies to achieve the division's and the University's strategic objectives. The Senior Manager: Financial Control is responsible for maintaining a sound control environment related to statutory, regulatory, and internal policy requirements. The incumbent leads the Financial Accounting, Treasury, and Accounts Payable functions and manages, amongst others, the general ledger and balance sheet, statutory reporting, cash and investments, insurance, and accounting and auditing processes.

    The Requirements

    • B Com (Accounting) or similar degree at NQF Level 7, with postgraduate studies in Accounting at NQF Level 8 an advantage, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant CA(SA) a further advantage, with approximately nine (9) years relevant experience where such experience includes: -

    Relevant experience shall include:

    • At least five (5) years of management experience working with senior and middle management in an organization
    • Experience acquired in the finance division of a large organization
    • Managing annual audits and the preparation of Annual Financial Statements and supporting information
    • Managing the general ledger and balance sheet, and accounting policies and compliance
    • Treasury functions, including cash-flow planning and management, bank liaison, short-term investment management, and a sound understanding of longer-term investment instruments
    • Administration and submission of VAT returns, engagement with SARS, and managing SARS audits
    • Knowledge of Accounts Payable activities and controls
    • Demonstration of advanced Excel skills for financial reporting and analysis
    • Working with ERP financial systems and report writers

    • Relevant experience within a higher education context
