    Faculty of Education - Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Education Law)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The incumbent will be expected to fulfil the duties of a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in the Department: Education Law, Management and Policy Studies as described in the minimum requirements.

    These duties include:

    • The curriculum development of and lecturing of modules in the programme(s) based in the department;
    • In addition, the incumbent will pursue research activities such as own research, research-based publications and the supervision of post graduate students registered in the department;  
    • Develop, present and co-ordinate undergraduate and post graduate courses for pre-service and in-service teachers and other students for contact and distance presentation;
    • Mentor students for practice teaching/work integrated learning;
    • Use a learning management system to develop and present courses;
    • Present lectures and programmes in an E-learning environment;
    • Provide a significant contribution to research outputs, post graduate teaching and supervision.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Lecturer

    • Master’s degree in Education Law, Management and Policy Studies (with a special focus in Education Law);
    • At least 1 publication in an accredited journal or equivalent units;
    • Evidence of teaching experience in Higher Education, for example, being a demonstrator or tutor or lecturer;

    SENIOR LECTURER

    • PhD in Education Law, Management and Policy Studies (with a special focus in Education Law);
    • Teaching experience (at least 3 years) in Higher Education and Policy Studies at a Higher Education Institution;
    • Evidence of coordination responsibilities and membership of committees;
    • Evidence of involvement in community engagement programmes;
    • Conduct own research, research projects and evidence of at least 5 publications in accredited journals or an average of 1 article per year for the last 3 years in such journals, or equivalent outputs;
    • Evidence of successful Masters and Doctoral supervision.

    Senior Lecturer / Lecturer (One Post): Department of New Testament and Related Literature

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the subject field of New Testament Studies;
    • Conducting scholarly research in the field of New Testament (and related literature);

    Associate Professor in Epidemiology (One Post) - School of Health Systems and Public Health - Faculty of Health Sciences

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Teaching Epidemiology undergraduate and postgraduate modules for the Division of Health Measurement Sciences, SHSPH;
    • Supervision of PhD/MSc/MPH/BSc Honours students in the fields of Epidemiology or Public Health or Health Systems in the SHSPH;
    • Publish in Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) approved journals;

    Physical Infrastructure Administrator - Department of Information Technology Services

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) support and maintenance:
    • Analyse and resolve UPS performance incidents or problems, and report faults to vendors;
    • Liaise with vendors to troubleshoot UPS incidents and problems;
    • Provide explanation of technical UPS related procedures and processes to both technical and non-technical user/client/customers;
    • Investigate and make recommendations with regard to size and standby time of UPS, based on client requirements;
    • Assess the location for the readiness to install, investigate environmental infrastructure and make recommendations;
    • Request quotations from suppliers as per requirement, and initiate the procurement request process;
    • Ensure that new equipment is tagged with asset numbers;
    • Assist with monitoring of UPSs and batteries through the management system;
    • Ensure that maintenance and repairs on UPSs are done in the most cost-effective way;
    • Rebuild battery trays with new batteries and do the necessary voltage measuring for quality assurance;
    • Assist with technical aspects related to network room and UPSs on projects;
    • Ensure installations are done correctly according to acceptable electrical standards, and assist with inspections;
    • Infrastructure support and maintenance of data centres/server/network rooms:
    • Conduct the routine inspections of the data centres/server/network rooms;
    • Assess that the necessary environmental infrastructures are in place;
    • Ensure that the environmental infrastructures are functional, and that the necessary corrective steps are taken regarding failures and/or problems;
    • Ensure cabinets, rooms, etc. are neat, clean, and in working order;
    • Log calls where needed with Facilities Management to fix faulty infrastructure e.g. DB boards, cooling units, etc.;

    Access control:

    • Maintain and ensure that access control system is in place at data centres/server/network rooms;
    • Maintain access list that control access to the rooms together with security services;
    • Ensure that new access control installations to new and old network rooms are done as and when required;

    Projects:

    • Maintain proper involvement with various teams in the planning phases of network rooms, distribution rooms, and data centres;
    • Ensure that advice and guidance are provided for fellow colleagues and users with regards to UPS requirements;
    • Advise and guide to ensure that the necessary quality assurance measures are in place for installations;

    Administration:

    • Maintain involvement in the administration process of tasks;
    • Assist with, and coordinate the UPSs call logging and monitoring system;
    • Advise and give input to create a management report on statistics;
    • Attend relevant seminars and courses;
    • Complete the asset verification process;
    • Provide inspection reports for network rooms as well as UPSs.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Relevant Bachelors/BTech degree; with
    • Three years’ experience in:
    • Technical experience in electronics, etc.;
    • Data centre infrastructure and/or network room requirements;
    • Working in projects teams;

    OR

    • Relevant 3-year National Diploma, OR relevant N6 Technical certification; with
    • Five years’ experience in:
    • Technical experience in electronics, etc.;
    • Data centre infrastructure and/or network room requirements;
    • Working in projects teams.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Performing excellent patient care and handling;
