    Senior Lecturer / Lecturer (One Post): Department of New Testament and Related Literature

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the subject field of New Testament Studies;
    • Conducting scholarly research in the field of New Testament (and related literature);
    • Supervising master’s and doctoral students (if the successful candidate has a relevant doctoral degree);
    • Mentoring students at the undergraduate level;
    • Performing academic administration and management;
    • Performing other duties as delegated by the Head of the Department.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Lecturer:

    • A relevant Masters degree or proof of submission thereof;
    • At least 1 publication in an accredited journal;
    • Relevant academic administration experience.

    Senior Lecturer:

    • A relevant doctoral degree or proof of submission thereof;
    • At least 3 years’ tertiary experience or related teaching experience;
    • At least 3 accredited quality journals publications;
    • Evidence of conference papers delivered and community engagement;
    • Experience in academic administration and knowledge of departmental committees.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

    • Good communication skills;
    • Competent writing skills;
    • Willingness to learn (i.e., Learning Management System and the use of technology enhancing learning);
    • Be able to work in a team;
    • Competency in Greek at least at 3rd year level.

    ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

    • Familiar with the African context;
    • Competency in more than one language;
    • Be part of an established international academic network;
    • Membership of at least one scholarly society related to New Testament Studies;
    • Community involvement.
