    MFC Production Supervisor (Shift) (Middelburg)

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    To supervise the safe and cost-effective execution of all production related activities. Ensuring the achievement of production and quality targets. Ensuring and maintaining high quality work standards on shift.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

    • Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
    • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
    • Ensure SHEQ compliance within the Team through effective use of the Toolbox
    • Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status

    • Analyse and Interpret Production Process Data on MES
    • Make suitable changes to ensure process stability in terms of furnace metallurgy control
    • Utilise FLOW to manage staff related issues in the team e.g. monitor trends and patterns of performance, absenteeism and overtime. Take corrective action in accordance with policies and procedures
    • Provide inputs for compiling the operations and maintenance budgets and adhering to budget constraints
    • Provide technical support to subordinates during fault finding and improvement work
    • Understand and use of IMS, LMS, MES, COUPA, KPI Fire, EBMS and FLOW
    • Control production costs
    • Assist in developing Process training materials
    • Supervise the production process
    • Implement and maintain 5S in the plant
    • Basic understanding of safety KPI’s
    • Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence
    • Management of production processes on a shift basis
    • Work overtime as and when required

    Requirements

    Minimum qualifications: 

    • Relevant N6 Certificate for external candidates

    Tax Manager (JHB North)

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

    To lead the Tax team in providing a totally integrated direction and functional support to the group.     • Ensure compliance for all Samancor Group Companies’ Taxes:
    • Income Tax returns and general compliance
    • Provisional Tax returns and payments
    • Mineral Royalty Tax returns and payments
    • VAT and diesel returns and compliance
    • Carbon Tax returns and payments
    • PAYE compliance
    • Withholding Tax returns and compliance
    • Other indirect Taxes (e.g. SDL, UIF) 
    • Assist in preparing and signoff on all tax disclosures made in the annual financial statements
    • Liaise with external auditors and assist with information and queries
    • Reduce Audit findings for both External and Internal Audits.
    • Liaise with SARS in order to respond to all revenue queries, obtain favourable tax rulings and clarify tax clauses (where necessary)
    • File objections with SARS for incorrect assessments
    • Supply tax information to relevant stakeholders to facilitate financial and management reporting and planning

    Tax advice:

    • Provide pragmatic tax advice to Samancor Chrome on all areas of Tax
    • Ensure the structuring of all Group transactions in a Tax effective manner and minimize the incidence of Tax exposure to the Group
    • Provide Tax planning advise for local and international transactions and to identify and rectify any Tax exposures

    Tax Developments:

    • Analyse existing and proposed Tax legislation in order to determine the Tax implications
    • Monitor accounting changes (release of new accounting standards) in order to determine the Tax implications
    • Make all stakeholders aware of the latest Tax developments in order to minimize the Tax exposure or maximize Tax opportunities

    Production Operator Post Taphole/Auxilliary (Limpopo)

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    To safely operate the Furnaces auxiliaries to produce FeCr alloy

    • Ensure good housekeeping is maintained at the ETP
    • Ensure thickener underflows are discharged as per SOP to tailex
    • Ensure water level at the thickeners is maintained such that there is no bund wall overflow

    Batching Plant:

    • Conduct physical inspection on raw material feeders. i.e., check for material contaminations, material size (fines/oversize), run throughs during batches.
    • Maintain good housekeeping at the batching plant.
    • Take shiftily samples to laboratory
    • Analyse moisture and capture on MES

    Electrode management:

    • Operate service hoist
    • Operate gooseneck hoist
    • Operate preheater hoist
    • Load paste as per paste loading guideline

    Other:

    • Assist with cleaning the gooseneck
