    Account Manager - Direct Sales (Manufacturing Sector)

    Job Description

    • Management of: Individual Customer Profitability metrics across all product sold to Manufacturing customers incl. P&L, Financial Responsibility for Product Sales and Balance Sheet in respect of allocated customers (Lubricants and Fuels).
    • The position is directly accountable for every aspect of the Sales and Marketing activity and related profitability for commercial fuels.
    • Responsible for area value chain optimization plans to maximize gross margin.
    • Plans and executes marketing strategies, processes, programs, standards and operations across the various classes of trade for fuels, lubricants and additional profit centers, consistent with the business plan and the AE way
    • Partners with customers to achieve profitable operations, improved profitability and grow sales volume targets (base and new volume) for the Fuels and Lubricants business
    • Monitors monthly performance and agreed action plans to ensure Volume and Margin targets are achieved. Manages associated operating expenses and CAPEX budgeting against given set of customers.
    • Achieve the EBITDA target for the Fuels and Lubricants business
    • Support Management of  Direct Opex to achieve required savings targets
    • In the Direct channel, carefully monitors the market and competitor moves and strategies to identify new business opportunities, volume growth opportunities and solutions for customers related to growing business.
    • Ensures consistent and disciplined execution of processes /procedures /programs and systems towards achieving business plan commitments within the sales area and channel, across class of trade for fuels, lubricants and additional profit centers as appropriate, consistent with the business plan and the AE way
    • Drive Inventory Management by improving Forecast Accuracy %.
    • Drive customer satisfaction and continuous improvement on SLA’s.
    • Complies with the OE/HES Corporate standards and incorporates into daily guidelines. Ensures that the customer is aligned with all AE processes as well as government regulations such as HES, licensing and local ordinances.
    • Collaboration with internal (Terminals Logistics, Supply, Credits etc.) and external (maintenance vendors etc.) stakeholders

    Qualifications and Experience required:-

    • Senior Certificate with relevant commercial tertiary qualification.
    • This position requires 3-5yrs Commercial Sales experience (preferably in a Manufacturing environment) and extensive product knowledge.
    • Must be in possession of a good understanding of the oil industry in RSA, the environment in which the company operates, and the overall Marketing objectives and vision in order to ensure alignment of goals with strategic direction.
    • The incumbent needs to have a clear view of customer profitability and NOI drivers.
    • Incumbent will exhibit a clear understanding of Marketing operations within South Africa and the ability to develop strong relationships with customers.
    • Demonstrates an ability to enforce all terms and conditions of all product agreements.
    • Incumbent must have strong financial, analytical skills, and a solid working knowledge of SAP, PC software applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook & PowerPoint)
    • Needs minimal supervision & at times will operate under tight or stringent deadlines.
    • Strong negotiation and consultancy skills required.
    • Collaboration with other functional groups in order to execute for enterprise value

    • The Operating Management System (OMS) Specialist – SHEQ Assurance will coordinate all Operations Assurance OMS elements on behalf of all Astron Energy BUs with 60% of the time supporting the Refinery and the balance to supporting the rest of the BUs.

    The duties will include the following:

    Accountable for closing SHEQ Assurance OMS gap closure actions, related to:

    • Environment
    • Personal Safety & Human Performance
    • Health
    • SHEQ legal compliance
    • Transportation
    • Product Management
    • Security
    • Develop an overall OMS change management plan.
    • Where required, serve as sub-element owner for Astron Energy.
    • Coordinate SHEQ standard deviation management.
    • Review and rewrite (where necessary) all procedures to align with the SHEQ Assurance OMS elements.
    • Develop and conduct BU SHEQ Assurance OMS training.
    • Conduct BU self-verifications (Tier 1) and support BUs with Tier 2/3 audit preparation including SHEQ barrier assurance.

    In addition, the team will support the following initiatives:

    • Document Management System (CDMS) update project. Approximately 5000+ documents for the Refinery which requires review and alignment with OMS.
    • DRR action close out, 23 actions
    • Operational discipline gameplan

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Similar relevant Degree
    • 5 + years experience in Operations or SHEQ field in the oil and gas industry.

    Work Experience:

    • Experience with refinery operations, maintenance execution, personal safety, and or environmental management.
    • Experience in developing procedures and developing training.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels within the organisation.
    • Familiar with the OHS Act & NEMA regulations.

    Refinery Business Relationship Manager

    Job Description

    • The Refinery BRM is a strategic partner with the refinery leadership team and drives thought-leadership to bring innovation and value to the refinery. They manage the end-to-end IT portfolio of applications and ensure spend is aligned to strategy, follows governance and procurement processes. This role partners closely with key business stakeholders and the strategy group/Value Office to ensure IT demand is captured, prioritised and planned effectively giving visibility to both business and IT. Ensures alignment with the overall IT strategy and roadmap. Ensures that all commitments to business can be achieved and prioritised effectively but also partner with business to proactively offer and support in any technology efficiency / improvements. This role forms part of the IT leadership team.
    • Direct and manage the provisioning of IT services to the Refinery operations of the business.
    • Act as a point of escalation for the IT build and run teams within this business tower and also be a key point of contact for business stakeholders for IT demand.
    • Maintain demand process for new IT proposals with overall responsibility for steering these proposals through the early phases of approval
    • Develop and enhance relationships with key business stakeholders, actively manage their expectations and monitor satisfaction levels
    • Address business demand by capturing high level technology requirements
    • Ensure high level technology impact analysis is provided to business for faster decision making and demand planning
    • Develop training, maintenance, implementation, upgrade, enhancements, safety procedures, protocol, and documentation where required
    • Work with the senior management team to develop business cases, business plans, budgets, IT strategy, and other key targets for the IT team
    • Provide leadership, direction, and coordination for IT activities between refinery business departments
    • Develop expense and capital budgets, gain approval, analyse monthly variances, and lost opportunities and operate the IT department within budget parameters.
    • 24/7 availability in order to resolve critical issues
    • Assure prompt and effective action is taken to resolve technical problems and minimise repetitive discrepancies through continuous improvement efforts
    • Manage and provide oversight for end-to-end service delivery from Refinery IT team (including ecosystem partners and third parties) to business
    • Contract Management - Evaluates a potential service provider’s reputation, resources and expertise
    • Carry-out all required contract negotiations for new and existing contracts with third parties
    • Regular presentations and updates at leadership forums e.g. RLT’s and Exco’s
    • Responsible for driving and ensuring IT compliance and security standards are maintained at all times.

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related field, or equivalent work experience.

    Work Experience: 

    • 10 and more years IT experience in a complex environment 
    • 5+ years management experience, preferably in a business facing / client facing role
    • Proven experience in a Refinery or chemical processing environment

    Account Manager - Direct Sales

    Job Description

    • For new and existing customers, define and regularly review relevant customer relationship behavioral and differentiated service banding and their sales & marketing plan.
    •  Plan customer calls and visit to provide appropriate level of service to existing and new customer with a focus on retaining/expanding existing business relationship. Prepare call and trip plan using the Astron Energy sales way.
    • Review & plan customer business, products, service packages, contracts, prices, credit terms, credit limit and debt.
    • Carry out negotiations with customers, preparing quotations and proposal and agree on all operational requirements (including: price, contract, payment terms and services)
    • Ensure all internal service providers carry out the agreed terms.
    • Ensures that all customers interaction activities are properly logged and updated in the appropriate CRM systems (e.g. Hubspot) 
    • Propose and sell marketing initiatives to new and existing customers against set targets as defined with marketing team.
    • Work with other Astron Energy teams and third parties (e.g. logistics, STO/Supply Chain, credit, legal, STL, NSM) where necessary to provide an efficient and cost effective service to the customer.
    • Accelerate bottom-line improvement through effective profit & loss management.
    • Drive cost reduction initiatives through effective Capex and Opex management
    • Be responsible and proactively in HES issues that affects the individual, the office/field environment and their customers.
    • Be accountable for own development plan to continuously improve competencies.
    • The Account Manager is expected to grow the mining portfolio through hunting of new business within the sector.
    • Maintains a strong sales pipeline and generates strong leads for the business unit
    • Develop new opportunities with prospective customers independently from leads developed through Deal Progression Tabulator
