    Manager SHE - Pretoria

    Purpose

    • To lead, co-ordinate and implement the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) management system compliant with OHSAS 18001 (ISO 45001) and ISO 14001 and relevant SHE legislation, to ensure compliance, prevention of incidents and continuous improvement to the SHE management system. The incumbent will work through management to embed a proactive safety culture in pursuance of zero harm.

    Key Responsibilities (not limited to):

    • Develop and implement the SABN’s SHE strategy, policies, procedures and processes to achieve an embedded SHE culture of Zero Harm.
    • To develop and implement a comprehensive integrated SHE management system and continuously monitor and improve the effectiveness thereof.
    • Ensure that all work activities within SABN are compliant with applicable SHE legislative requirements, policies and procedures.
    • Develop, implement effective SHE risk management, mitigation processes and procedures to minimize risk of SHE incidents.
    • To develop and implement SHE emergency preparedness, response plans, SHE awareness and skills development programmes.
    • Participate in the planning and execution of internal SHEQ audits.
    • Ensure the SABN maintains its OSHAS 18001:2007 / ISO 45001 and ISO 14001:2015 certification at all times.
    • Manage, monitor and report on the company’s SHE performance.
    • People management and development.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • BSc Degree in Environmental Health / Safety Management
    • SAMTRAC/NEBOSH/SHEMTRAC or equivalent safety qualification
    • ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 (ISO 45001) management systems implementation certification
    • Internal Auditor Certification for ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 (ISO 45001)
    • 5 years’ experience in the implementation of integrated SHE management systems in a manufacturing environment coupled with 3 Years line management experience.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Comprehensive knowledge of SHE Legislation.
    • Behavioural-Based Safety (BBS).
    • Hazard Identification Risk Assessments (HIRA).
    • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
    • Ability to interact with people at all levels including external stakeholders.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Problem solving.

    Area Engineer: Maintenance - Pretoria

    Purpose

    • This is a Managerial Role, a Section Head to provide high level technical support and leadership of a Section within the PEM Department, implement the maintenance strategy. The Area Engineer is required to serve the role of General Machinery Regulations 2(1).

    Main Responsibilities (not limited to):

    • Translate strategy into an action plan for the section, in line with organisational strategy.
    • Conduct reliability centred maintenance (RCM) on equipment to derive or enhance equipment maintenance strategies.
    • Develop Maintenance Strategies
    • Lead and manage the technical team including resources allocation for repairs, planned maintenance, modifications, and lead root cause analysis activities.
    • Ensure continuous improvement and optimisation of the plant and equipment by systematically resolving technical problems by applying root cause analysis techniques and providing solutions thereto.
    • Manage team performance and sustain high performance standards, set and achieve objectives and goals in accordance with the departmental strategy.
    • Lead the development of standard operating procedures, work instructions, training manuals and related documentation to sustain team capability and effectively manage engineered assets in area of responsibility.
    • Minimise equipment downtime by ensuring adherence to the planned maintenance schedule and ensure safe execution of maintenance activities.
    • Define accurate specifications, initiate projects and take ownership thereof on behalf of the PEM department to ensure success of project work.
    • To supervise and ensure safe equipment installations and commissioning to ensure that equipment operates according to requirements after installation or repair.
    • Manage overall compliance to relevant legislation, by-laws and regulations by developing risk management plans, identifying potential threats or risks, and proactively mitigate them.
    • Monitors cost for the Technical Section.

    The Preferred candidate is likely to have:

    • BSc/B.Eng in Mechatronics or Eletro-mechanical or Electrical or Mechanical, Engineering
    • Government Certificate of Competency (GCC)
    • The ideal candidates will likely have 9-12 years’ experience in Engineering Maintenance
    • The ideal candidate is likely to have 3 years’ experience as a GMR2(1) Appointee
    • The ideal candidate is likely to have 3 years’ experience as a Manager.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Knowledge of Engineering Principles and Standards
    • Knowledge of ERP Systems
    • Leadership Skills  
    • ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
    • Report-writing
    • Written and verbal communication skills
