    Risk Specialist

    About the role

    • The purpose of the Risk Specialist role is to develop and coordinate risk management programs and frameworks. This involves providing subject matter expertise to ensure effective risk management outcomes. The role focuses on identifying, analyzing, and measuring risks, and making precise risk mitigation recommendations to safeguard the organization against potential losses.

    What you will bring

    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in risk management for an insurer
    • Analysing complex issues
    • Ability to apply risk expertise in commercial environment
    • Exposure to Corporate Governance Frameworks

    You should have

    • Knowledge about the Prudential Standards – Governance and Operational Standards for Insurers (GOIs) and Financial Soundness Standards for Insurers (FSIs)
    • Awareness of the requirements in insurance related regulations e.g. Insurance Act, Long Term Insurance Act (LTIA), Short Term Insurance Act (STIA), Policyholder Protection Rules (PPRs) and other relevant regulations

    Ideally you should have

    • 5+ years’ experience in risk management for an insurer
    • Contributing to ORSA exercises
    • Regulatory interactions, including the Prudential Authority and Financial Sector Conduct Authority
    • Knowledge of RDARR requirements
    • In-depth knowledge of the Prudential Standards (GOIs and FSIs) and various insurance related regulations
    • Risk metrics and approaches used in the risk management of insurance companies
    • In-depth knowledge of the South African Insurance Industry
    • Knowledge about IFRS 17 will be desirable

    Manager: Finance Business Partner

    About the role

    • Your key focus areas will be to ensure that Capitec Bank’s strategic objectives i.e., profit, efficiency, processes and procedures are managed and that your team are able to drive these objectives within their portfolios. You will build relationships with a variety of business stakeholders and identify innovative and proactive implementable solutions with your expertise and knowledge within retail credit, compliance legislation, operational finance, and financial assets.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Leading a team of costing analysts and finance business partners with a primary focus on the retail credit business. The role will also look after a component of fee income (non-credit related income) but the primary focus will be credit.
    • A solid understanding of IFRS9 will be advantageous in this role
    • Working closely with the provisioning and credit teams to understand the drivers of the retail credit book performance and unpacking thereof
    • Reporting measures like return on equity for the credit business and enhancing the understanding thereof 
    • Reviewing and understanding the credit-related forecasts and budgets of the retail bank
