    Team Leader

    Job Description

    • In this role you will be responsible to manage of designated team, plant, and materials in a culture of performance monitoring, review and action, open communication, employee involvement, employee relations, continuous improvement in support of achieving organization mission and objectives.
    • To ensure employee safety, product quality and performance while delivering on time the shift production plan.

    A day in the life of a Team Leader:

    • Ensure the timely deployment of People development plan and assure the competencies of his/her team as per the agreed plan with PM (proper training inc. equipment, safety procedures, hygiene) Enforce strict compliance to standard operating procedures (SOPs) by all personnel within the shift. 
    • Coach employees to fulfil and exceed the requirements of the job through NCE approach.
    • Ensure that the working areas are kept clean and are maintained in working order including all installations in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
    • Check and enforce personnel hygiene & safety e.g., protective clothing (uniform), shoe change & hand wash.
    • Ensure continuous line Controls and immediate corrective action to assure prescribed quality and to ensure compliance with manufacturing instructions.
    • Ensure ongoing smooth operations of factory through effective employee and industrial relations management.
    • Ensure that there is an adequate distribution of skills to enable production plan to be achieved effectively.
    • Ensure timely launch of new products to the Market as per agreed with the business unit.
    • Ensure adequate maintenance of the installations in coordination with quality, engineering & administration.

    What will make you successful?

    • Degree/Diploma in Food sciences, Chemistry or Chemical/Mechanical engineering.
    • 3 years or more experience in similar role.
    • Experience in FMCG will add as an advantage.
    • Demonstration of leadership ability by leading a project within a factory environment.
    • Demonstration of Leadership skills in positively confronting inappropriate behavior and using everyday coaching to ensure involvement of the workforce.

    Automation Engineer

    Job Description

    • In this role you will be responsible to Identify in one sentence the highest-level contribution to the business.

    A day in the life of an Automation Engineer:

     Management Responsibilities

    • Propose and implement work processes, procedures and technical resources in accordance with the Engineering Policy, Key Principles and the Electricity & Automation – Manufacturing Execution System (E&A-MES) Activity as outlined in the Nestlé Engineering Excellence (NEE) master document.
    • Coordinate personnel (e.g., technicians, instrument fitters, contractors etc.) to ensure the Automation and MES objectives are satisfied.
    • Propose and control the Automation and MES component of the site M&I budget and any capital projects.
    • Propose and monitor the Automation and MES in accordance with the key performance indicators.
    • Demonstrate and promote the company's values and integrate them within Automation and MES.

     Functional Responsibilities

    • The functional responsibilities for an Automation Engineer are outlined within the NEE master document.
    • The main responsibilities being to:
    • Ensure that there exists within the Automation and MES team an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations. That all team members are encouraged never to implement any change, whether directly instructed to, or under his/her own initiative, without first questioning its impact in relation to product safety/quality, people safety and the environment. No compromises should be tolerated.
    • Ensure that all Automation and MES personnel are correctly trained and certified in accordance with the local laws.
    • Always ensure the technical integrity and performance of the Automation and MES equipment.
    • Always ensure safe installations and operations through proper design, protection systems, procedures and training.
    • Liaise with the site Safety Officer on matters relating to safety, control and energy conservation.

    Responsibilities relating to the Maintenance and Improvement of Automation and MES assets:

    • Coordinate with Production, Quality Management and Engineering to resolve Automation and MES issues.
    • Supervise, coordinate and perform Automation and MES maintenance and project work together with technicians and contractors.
    • Ensure proper management of Automation and MES documents (manuals, diagrams, instrument data sheet, software packages/licenses) through efficient filing and archiving procedures.
    • Initiate and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) in Automation and MES with the aim of achieving optimized plant performance.

    Adopt the Maintenance Excellence vision by striving for the M&I "Proactive Domain".

    • Monitor plant and equipment to ensure optimal operation and reduction of planned and unplanned downtime. Responsibilities relating to the installation of new Automation and MES assets:
    • Ensure that the justification, request for approval and reporting are in line with the Guidelines for Capital Investment.
    • Ensure that new installations are designed with a high degree of flexibility to better enable the operations to adjust to a changing environment keeping in mind the issue of product and people safety.
    • Facilitate the introduction and implementation of new technologies in coordination with local, market, central technical and PTC engineering.

    Develop and implement maintenance and inspection plans to ensure reliability, sustainability and security of the Automation and MES infrastructure.

    • Ensure proper backup procedures are in place for all automation and industrial IT systems supporting production.
    •  Execute the maintenance of the Automation and MES in accordance with the Nestlé Maintenance Strategy using Consequence Driven Maintenance (CDM) as the multi-disciplined approach to proactively maintain/improve the fixed assets and Asset and Maintenance Management (AMM) as the process to manage the asset lifecycle.

    What will make you successful?

    • Degree/Diploma in engineering, preferably electrical engineering.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the field of electricity and automation in a manufacturing facility.

    Factory Maintenance Engineer

    Job Description

    • In this role you will be responsible to support and participate in the implementation and execution of the factory asset maintenance programme aimed to eliminate unplanned stops and optimize maintenance cost and as a result increase asset intensity.                                                          

    A day in the life of a Factory Maintenance Engineer

    Manage existing assets - Planned maintenance

    • Actively participate in maintenance routines to ensure that maintenance activities are scheduled and executed in time with high quality.
    • Support and participate in the implementation maintenance methodologies (PM pillar, foundations), usually member of PM pillar.
    • Master and coach breakdown analysis.
    • Responsible to ensure effective utilization of AMM system.

    Manage existing assets - Budget management

    • Provide input for annual maintenance budget. Assist with the reporting and tracking of the maintenance budget.
    • Analyze over/under spending in the area of responsibility and propose corrective actions.

    Build Engineering Capability

    • Support and participate in the competence building plan (CBP) for the maintenance team.
    • Build up maintenance methoggologies competencies within Engineering, on the topics from Roles and Responsibilities matrix
    • Assist with the technical training program for all factory maintenance staff.
    • Build up AMM competencies within Engineering.

    Manage existing assets - Production support:

    • Support the implementation AM pillar methodologies.
    • Support production to eliminate quality defects, safety risks and chronic technical issues.

    Safety

    • Establish plans for handling breakdowns and other emergencies such as fire, power failure, etc.
    • Ensure all Safety are carried out in terms of the schedule and legal requirements
    • Ensure that Engineering staff adheres to Health and Safety Regulations.                    

    Installation

    • Ensure sufficient spares and minor materials are available to staff to enable prompt and efficient repairs to plant and equipment.
    • Assist Factory Engineer in the co-ordination of approved plant or equipment installations.
    • Ensuring that the plant Instrumentation and Automation operates as per designed specifications and recommendations, the MOS Act and recommendations as per NOSA.

    Define and adhere to standards

    • Support and participate in implementation of applicable standards.
    • Ensure adherence to applicable standards in the area of responsibility.

    Management of Human Resource

    • Assist in training of various technical staff when required to do so, such as apprentices, vocational students, staff from other factories and Head Office.
    • Manage direct reports in terms of employee development and performance management. 
    • Understanding of Labour Relation Act.

    What will make you successful?

    • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
    • Experience in engineering management (maintenance, industrial, services, E&A), preferably in FMCG related manufacturing environment (min 3 years).
    • Experience working in multifunctional team (i.e. capital projects, DMAIC) preferred.

    Procurement Specialist

    Job Description

    • The Procurement Specialist is responsible for understanding, communicating, and helping to implement commodity sourcing strategies on a local level (at the market).
    • The Procurement Specialist will gather business requirements in the local market and drive alignment with Category market teams as input into the strategy.
    • The Procurement Specialist will gather commodity data, business requirements, and local requirements to transmit them to Local Business Partners and Above Market Category teams for setting actions/strategies accordingly.  He/she will work to liaise with the management stakeholders for assigned scope focused on functions and plant, production and Co-Man sites in the Market concerned.

    A day in the life of a Procurement Specialist:

    • Provide the Local Business Partner with information and requirements gathered through the daily business and report to him/her on a regular basis.
    • Proactively understand the business needs and requirements within commodity environment from a functional and plant level requirements in the business.
    • Carry out as directed any data retrieval, analysis and representation required, mapping how ordering (S2P) and channels work within the locations serviced, and identify improvements to be targeted.
    • Interface with local suppliers as required to help with any supplier development, or supplier switch out activities as directed by category and sourcing teams.
    • Work with HOP and Business partners to integrate sourcing plans and outcomes in local budgets and price planning processes as required.
    • On a monthly basis ensuring accuracy and integrity of the commodity price outlook, with strong collaboration with category teams, Procurement Controller, and Business partners.
    • As directed by category and sourcing teams, act to integrate innovation, renovation, and post award cost improvement elements from suppliers into all in scope functional or site/production processes, ensuring that all supplies to that site adhere to Nestlé's Suppliers Code and all actions from audit events are acted upon.
    • Drive risk mitigation strategies to help ensure supply of commodity materials for all factories (e.g.  Risk analysis, alternative supplier approvals, and business continuity plans).

    What will make you successful?

    • B Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification.
    • 5 years in Procurement, with commodity experience and strong financial acumen would be beneficial
    • Demonstrated success in delivering competitive advantage to the business through development and implementation of sourcing strategies for the spend category in charge over a sustained period (2-3 years).
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead projects.
    • Demonstrated successful use of risk management, analyses, responsible sourcing, and supplier relation management.
    • Negotiate successfully in cross-functional and cross-market teams
    • Strong communication and influencing skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and delivering to tight deadlines
