    Specialist: Actuarial Analyst

    Purpose

    • This role presents an exciting opportunity to be a part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering crucial insights into financial performance and product analysis. The position necessitates a blend of technical expertise, experience in actuarial valuation processes, and the ability to collaborate with various business units, including finance, product development, Prophet modelling, and other actuarial valuation teams. The incumbent will have the chance to develop specialist skills, gain valuable experience, and interact with key individuals within the Group, positioning themselves for further career advancement.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Conduct life actuarial valuations, including experience investigations, assumption setting, prudential and IFRS reserving and reporting, scenario testing and forecasting, analyses of surplus, and value-of-new-business calculations.
    • Streamline and enhance various processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Present insights to management and the broader business, actively participating in discussions to facilitate the execution of the business strategy.
    • Collaborate with various stakeholders within Liberty to develop solutions that add significant business value.
    • Assist in improving governance and control within the Actuarial and Risk departments.

    Minimum Experience

    • 1 - 2 years experience in a similar environment

    Additional Minimum Experience

    • Student or near qualified actuary in a Life Insurance Actuarial environment.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas [NQF Level 07] in Mathematical Sciences

    Key Skills

    • Strong knowledge of technical concepts in Actuarial Science, including techniques, calculations, and principles, is essential. The candidate must possess analytical thinking skills and the ability to solve complex problems.
    • Experience in financial analysis and interpretation, along with knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and professional guidance from the Actuarial Society, is highly advantageous.
    • Proficiency in Prophet and SQL is considered a significant asset.
    • The ideal candidate should be a self-starter capable of working independently and maintaining high standards under time constraints.
    • The ability to seamlessly integrate into an existing team is crucial.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.

    Div Exec: Institutional Operations

    Position Overview

    • A senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing all operational aspects of institutional asset management. This role ensures the smooth functioning of daily operations, enhances operational efficiency, and ensures compliance with industry regulations and internal policies. The Divisional Executive: Institutional Operations collaborates closely with other departments, including portfolio management, risk management, compliance, and client services, to support the firm's strategic objectives and deliver exceptional service to institutional clients.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operational Leadership:

    • Lead and manage the institutional operations team, ensuring effective execution of operational processes and procedures.
    • Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks.

    Risk Management and Compliance:

    • Ensure all operations comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Oversee the implementation of controls and best practices to maintain a high standard of operational integrity.

    Process Improvement:

    • Implement technology solutions and automation to streamline operations and reduce manual interventions.
    • Lead initiatives to improve data management, reporting, and analytics capabilities.

    Client Service and Relationship Management:

    • Ensure the delivery of exceptional service to institutional clients, addressing their operational needs and resolving issues promptly.
    • Participate in client meetings and presentations to provide operational insights and support business development efforts.

    Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Act as a key point of contact for external vendors and service providers, managing relationships and service agreements.
    • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes, providing operational insights and recommendations.

    Minimum Experience

    • 8 - 10 years experience in a similar environment, of which 3 - 4 years at senior management level

    • Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas [NQF Level 07] in Generic Management

    Additional Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CAIA) preferred.
    • Extensive experience in institutional operations within the asset management industry.
    • Strong understanding of investment products, trading, settlements, and regulatory requirements.
    • Proven track record of leading and managing operations teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in operational systems, technology platforms, and data management tools

    • Set and manage the budget and expenditure of the IO function, in accordance with requirements, ensuring especially that all contracted services are delivered to according to contract.

    Learning and Growth

    • Integrate and drive human resource strategies across operating units to ensure optimum utilisation of human capability through effective planning and development.
    • Provide leadership to the team, ensuring that new capabilities and ways of working become embedded within Institutional Operations.

    Governance

    • Drive the development and implementation of integrated risk, governance and compliance frameworks, ensuring the consolidation of the risk profile for an area of accountability across the value chain, managing critical risks and providing feedback.
    • Ensure that there is a robust control and risk management framework in place meeting internal governance and compliance requirements.
