    Lecturer (Education)

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Lecturing

    • Lecture on programmes (must lecture on an IIE qualification) across various modes of delivery where relevant
    • Marking of assessments and feedback to students in subjects lectured. May be required to internally moderate assessments scripts that fall within their subject fields, where necessary across IIE sites of delivery

    Lecturer Development and Support

    • Assist in lecturer development and support processes and procedures. This may include conducting peer reviews, facilitating workshops and one-on-one consultations

    Academic Lead : Online (Faculty of Management) - Remote Work

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Online Lecturing : 

    • Online Lecturing on programmes (must lecture on an IIE qualification) in the distance mode of delivery. Delivering a minimum of 1 module per semester.
    • Lecture preparation, delivery and all related teaching and assessment activities.
    • Marking of assessments and feedback to students in subjects lectured.
    • May be required to internally moderate assessments scripts that fall within the respective subject fields, where necessary across IIE sites of delivery.

    Online Lecturing Development and Support:

    • Support function to T&L in the distance mode and to The IIE in the discipline
    • Work with Lecturers on their programme/s to build knowledge of industry trends and graduate placement.
    • Conducting peer reviews in programme of speciality.
    • Brand resource SME to The IIE on modules and programme of expertise.
    • Support the adoption of teaching and learning strategies and approaches in the distance mode.
    • Assisting in any required research related to T&L.
    • Involvement in lecturer orientation / briefing / forum.

    Learning and Teaching Resource Development:

    • Keeping up to date on current national and international best practice for online T&L: including the development of support resources, online engagment and delivery strategies
    • Working in collaboration with the Teaching & Learning Specialist and/or EdTech and/or Instructional Designer to develop synchronous and asynchronous support resources specific to the programme / faculty to which they are affiliated
    • Working in collaboration with the Teaching & Learning Specialist to develop and promote effective real time (synchronous) delivery practices suitable for, and specific to, an online learning envronment
    • Working with individual lecturers, new and tenured, to ensure selected resources are best suited to their particluar discipline / module.

    Results Tracking + Intervention Planning :

    • Assessment point tracking using relevant platforms. Working in collaboration with relevant roleplayers to identify at risk modules, devise, rollout, and track suitable interventions.

    Student Development and Support:

    • Championing/leading and managing academic development and support for a specific programme and its students.
    • Track individual student academic performance across the programme.
    • Track student enrolment and success rates and work with The Teaching & Learning Specialist and Faculty Heads to put in place the necessary interventions in place to reduce drop out rates and increase success and completion rates.
    • Assist where required with the experiential learning of students in their programme.
    • Conduct student support interventions where required.
    • Appropriate academic administration as required (related to student development and support).
    • Implement: academic guidance initiatives or programmes, organise workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance academic expectations.
    • A blend of asynchronous/synchronous support for relevant faculty

    Research and Scholarship:

    • All designated academic employees are required to promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline and campus/team and are also required to contribute towards The IIE’s Varsity College achieving its annual research output targets. Individual research output unit/s will be set in consultation with your line manager on an annual basis (Informed by The IIE 018 Academic Conditions of Service Policy).

    Receptionist

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Campus reception and Switchboard duties

    • Create an organised front office environment system (orderly systems, clean, professional and neat).
    • Receives and welcomes prospective and current students, parents and guests by greeting and directing them appropriately. 
    • Builds relationships with students and parents through professional interaction.
    • Operates the switchboard by receiving and directing calls promptly , professionally and efficiently and gathers the relevant information(i.e. reason for the call) from the caller to ensure that calls are directed to the appropriate staff member.
    • Takes detailed messages when staff members are not available and delivers these messages timeously to the appropriate individuals.
    • Deals with queries from students and directs them to the correct departments.
    • Assists with intercom instructions.
    • Organises the flyers and fact sheets at Reception in a neat and orderly manner and support the Marketing Assistant/s in ensuring that the waiting area and interview rooms are neat and tidy.

    • Provides administrative support to various departments as and when required.
    • Responsible for preparing, tracking and receiving of campus courier parcels, post and deliveries and notifying the relevant staff member/s promptly regarding collection or delivery updates.

    Admissions Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Student Application & Admission Administration

    • Collaborates with the campus Student Recruitment team to generate student admissions related queries
    • Follows up with the Student Recruitment team for missing student information in order to finalise all student admissions related queries.
    • Evaluates student admissions against the set admission criteria and communicates the appropriate outcomes.
    • Liaises with the campus Student Recruitment team during the admission evaluation process and assessment.
    • Escalates admission queries to the Admissions Manager.
    • Liaises with the campus Student Recruitment team on the management of admission waitlists.
    • Liaises with the campus Student Recruitment team on the management of declined admissions and expired offers and the issuing of new offers of study.
    • Documents management and issuance of appropriate admission letters.
    • Determines conditions associated with student admission and follows up on them thereafter.
    • Determines the eligibility of the admittees onto academic programmes.
    • Tracks student admissions through to registration.
    • Reports on admission progress to the Head: Student Recruitment & Sales Operations Manager (Distance & Admissions).
    • Adheres to established service level agreements of the admissions process set by the organisation.
    • Works with the Finance department on finance related issues of admission.
    • Works with the Admissions Manager & Sales Operations Manager (Distance & Admissions) to ensure admission compliance for the campus.
    • Works with the Admissions Manager on national admission projects.

    Student Registration Administration

    • Applies necessary holds on student accounts based on outstanding documentation or conditional admissions
    • Verifies registrations against the admission criteria.
    • Responsible for completing all School of Education counselling documentation prior to admission approval to ensure students are registered for the correct FAL/diadactic modules. All counselling documents must be uploaded to the applicant profile before admission is approved
    • Manages the new student transfer process in conjunction with Head: Student Recruitment, Marketing Assistants and other relevant stakeholder, and thereafter sends to the finance department for processing (from admission to registration).
    • Processes new student SLP & NQP registrations as required by Head: Student Recruitment
    • Takes ownertship of the external credit application process for new students once application has been submitted - supports student with application to the Hub and responsible for follow up until outcome is received by student
    • Checks the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exception reports on a weekly basis.
    • Follows up on all outstanding documentation and uploads once received.
    • Ensures compliance of international students from a document perspective.
    • Adheres to the International Student Policy/Procedure and updates reports regularly.
    • Re-audits all registration files in line with the stipulated deadline for the Data Verification Report.
    • Re-audits all registration files by the audit date stipulated by the Registrar, this would include the following; the South African Qualifications Authority SAQA / Universities South Africa (USAF) qualifications, study visas and all conditional acceptance - including remarks, international Students and all outstanding documentation.
    • Tracks and monitors conditional admissions throughout the year such as Universities South Africa (USAF) / South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) / combined National Senior Certificate (NSC ) / study visas and all other ad hoc conditional admissions.
    • Adheres to the established service level agreements of the registration process set by the organisation.

    Reports and Other

    • Responsible for training all new student recruitment staff and continuous upskilling of sales team as changes to admission criteria/processes occurs
    • Facilitates continuous communication with the Assistant Registrar in relation to resolving the Registrar related queries.
    • Complies with The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) legislation relevant to new student admissions.
    • Performs other ad hoc administrative and/or reporting duties as and when required.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Lecture Room Support

    • First line support for computer and lecture venues
    • Ensure operational state of computer and lecture venues
    • Ensure neatness of computer and lecture venues
    • Daily checks of copiers, printers, motorised screens and projectors

    Hardware Support
