    Leading Hand Myco Production - Somerset West

    Job Description    

    Mycorrhizae Production Activities

    • Oversee and participate in the execution of the harvest schedule in cooperation with the Team Leaders.
    • Consult with Greenhouse Team Leader daily before start of shift wrt daily tasks and instructions
    • Ensure production targets are met timeously and ensure SOP’s for all production activities are maintained at all times, especially during peak season periods.
    • Ensure plant is operated according to predetermined specs; work within framework of general policies and objectives; ensure cross contamination of products is avoided and safeguard against low levels of production losses (both normal and abnormal).
    • Meet quality standards specified; observe, monitor and communicate possible production bottlenecks and/or quality issues and also institute corrective action immediately in conjunction with Team Leaders.
    • Effectively utilise workforce and monitor newly trained staff
    • Evaluate in conjunction with Team Leaders need to work overtime, set targets and monitor plant performance when overtime is worked.
    • Ensure all plants in the Myco Production Dept are shut down at the end of a shift in a safe manner.

    Stock Control

    • Receive new stock and check against Purchase Order/Delivery Note. Supervise offloading from and onto delivery vehicles ensuring their safety. Ensure proper storage of raw materials and ensure FIFO system used.
    • Carry out stock take on weekly basis.
    • Instruct Transport Operator to move stock according to production needs.

    By-Products

    • Ensure correct processing of by-products from washing plant, ensure correct storage and ensure correct utilisation of by-products and traceability systems are maintained.

    Sieving/Grading Plant

    • Operate sieving/grading machine in absence of Plant Operator and ensure machine is operated according to SOP. Ensure sieved product is processed and stored according to SOP and all traceability protocols are maintained.

    Maintenance

    • Ensure all equipment utilised is kept to a high level of efficiency. Ensure Plant Operators actively take part in plant upkeep and maintenance. Report all non-conformance issues and ensure maintenance is efficiently managed.

    Housekeeping

    • Ensure effective housekeeping is maintained in areas of responsibility, factory floor in Production area remains uncluttered and free from unnecessary items that could be a tripping hazard and ensure demarcated areas for forklift and tractor operations are free from debris or any type of hazard.

    Ad Hoc Tasks

    • Assist Team Leaders or R&D Team in prepping tunnels and or media for trials. Assist/give input to project work associated with areas of responsibility and assist in any job function on site as and when requested to do so by the Production Team Leader.
    • Respond to hazardous conditions and emergencies

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Minimum education Grade 12.
    • Minimum of 2 year’s related experience in a similar or the same environment.
    • Previous plant operation experience in a production environment advantageous.
    • Computer literate MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
    • Possess a sound working knowledge and understanding of plants and crops in terms of seed germination, growth and general plant husbandry.
    • Possess knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

    Transport Operator - Somerset West

    Job Description    

    • Perform daily checks of forklift, pallet jack and tractor, ensure forklift and tractor is kept in good, safe and clean condition and report any faults or damage to the Myco Production Team Leader.

    Conveyor System in Greenhouses

    • Ensure correct PPE is worn when operating the drive motor and conveyor belt and follow SOP’s when attaching drive motor to conveyor belt system. Carefully monitor conveyor system to avoid catastrophic failure to the belt or drive motor.
    • Move crates in/out of greenhouses by operating drive motor and conveyor system, load crates onto trailer using custom scissor carrier according to SOP & H&S  regulations.
    • Ensure drive motor is kept in good, safe and clean condition and report faults or damage.

    Transportation of Crates

    • Transport crates between greenhouses and sowing/harvest plant according to harvest schedule using correct means of transport (tractor + trailer or trolley), depending on greenhouse location; operate drive motor to run conveyor system in (new) tunnels according to SOP’s and H&S regulations.

    Driving

    • Perform collection and/or delivery of raw materials, consumables, samples and products and support other divisions with driving requests.
    • Receiving, Transportation & Storage of Raw Materials Associated With Relevant Plant
    • Check correct raw materials are received as per delivery notes and operate forklift and/or trolley jack to safely pack away raw materials in storage area and to safely transport raw materials from storage area to sowing area according to instructions ensuring FIFO system in storage area is maintained.

    Maintenance

    • Ensuremachinery/equipment are kept in good and safe working condition, identify and maintain stocks of critical spares for plants and ensure maintenance costs on the plants under areas of responsibility are kept to a minimum.
    • Report all equipment breakdowns after submitting maintenance job card to the Maintenance Dept thereby minimising downtime and ensure repairs are carried out timeously, also initiate ordering of spares
    • Supervision of contractors ensuring that maintenance jobs are effectively completed.
    • Coordinate/implement preventative maintenance systems for equipment under incumbent’s control as well as carry out day to day maintenance of plant/equipment under incumbent’s control.

    Housekeeping

    • Ensure effective housekeeping is maintained in and around all greenhouses as well as all plants and processes.

    Sowing

    • Participate in execution of production activities according to instruction from the Team Leader which includes but is not limited to sowing of crates, harvesting of crates and housekeeping in Production area.

    Greenhouses

    • Executionof greenhouse activities under guidance and instruction of Greenhouse Team Leader which includes but is not limited to watering of planted crates, cutting foliage off, rejuvenation of crates, monitoring and cleaning of irrigation nozzles, recordkeeping of planting dates and Mycorrhizae species in greenhouses, scouting for insects and plant diseases, crop protection and nutrition spray, rodent/pest control, weed control and minor maintenance. Monitor climatic environment inside greenhouses and control as far as possible by opening and closing of windows and doors.

    General Responsibilities

    • Required to drive a forklift, tractor + trailer and trolley jack, be medically fit to drive a forklift as well as tractor + trailer and be in possession of a valid driver’s to drive a forklift as well as a valid driver’s license to drive a tractor.

    Ad Hoc Tasks

    • Assist Team Leaders in executing trials in greenhouses, assist/fill in for colleagues during their absence due to annual leave or sick leave and assist/give input into project work associated with areas of responsibility.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    Minimum education Grade 12.

    • Minimum of 2 year’s relevant plant operation experience in a production environment.
    • A Minimum of 1 year’s work experience driving a forklift, tractor + trailer as well as operation of trolley jack.
    • Prior work experience or a good understanding of electrical systems and safety around operation of plant and equipment including work experience of operating a drive motor on the conveyor system.

    Job Description    

    • Ensuring compliance with IFRS by implementing consistent accounting solutions for transactions and collaborating with the Group Financial Reporting team.

    HCSS & IS Payroll Controller - Woodmead

    Job Description    

    • Ensure all payroll input received via the HCSS input channels is evenly distributed across the team and tracked to completion.
    • Plan, monitor and control bulk payroll activities including distribution of work to the team and consolidation of feedback to business.
    • Update the payroll system with special/targeted inputs in the prescribed format within the prescribed timeframe.
    • Design and prepare the monthly payroll variance reports, distribute such to business and manage the resolution of queries in this regard.
    • Review and quality assure changes/variations within the payroll system and review.
    • Review payroll administration data for errors, omissions and inconsistencies for data integrity engagements, terminations and documentation in relation to employee changes on the system.
    • Resolve complex payroll queries and requests for information in accordance with standard operating procedures and service level agreements (SLA’s).
    • Provide insights to required system change requests and test such prior to implementation.
    • Prepare and submit payroll reconciliations to the Payroll Processing Manager for review and approval.
    • Distribute payslips and follow up on the timeous publishing of electronic payslips.
    • Liaise with auditors during audits to respond to queries and provide information.
    • Oversee the international payroll processing:
    • Process 3rd party reconciliations for international countries.
    • Complete all payroll related statutory returns for international countries.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric / Grade 12.
    • Diploma or Higher Certificate in Human Resource Management or Payroll Administration.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Payroll Administration within a corporate environment with multiple function/operating companies.
    • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory capacity within payroll.
    • International payroll administration exposure will be an advantage.
