    Civil Engineer

    The successful candidates are required to assist in determining whether clients ensured that infrastructure projects were undertaken in an efficient, effective, and economical manner through the employ of good practices and proper project management principles by evaluating the following:

    • Time (compare actual progress against project plans, review extension of time (EoT) claims, determining the root causes for delays, review whether remedial action was taken against contractors)
    • Cost (review needs assessments, feasibility studies, cost estimates, bill of quantities and actual costs, compare payments made with actual progress, review variation orders/contract instructions)
    • Quality (conduct site visits to inspect the quality of infrastructure delivered, review the quality management processes that were used, review the processes around snag lists, practical completions certificates and final completion certificates)
    • Commissioning and utilisation (for completed infrastructure, assess during the site visit whether the infrastructure is being used as planned)

    Skills and experience required:

    • Engineering degree (B Eng or BSC Eng or BTech )
    • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant industry experience
    • A minimum of three (3) years Professionally registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist, (Pr Eng Tech)
    • Exposure to at least three (3) similar government infrastructure projects
    • Planning and organising, people management, conflict management and negotiations
    • Experience in programme and project management
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure
    • Good report-writing skills
    • Good communication skills

    Senior Civil Engineer

    The main responsibilities of the Civil Engineer would be to:

    • Provide effective leadership and management to the design department, production of engineering drawings, and preparation of tender documents.
    • Manage the delivery of projects from planning to completion.
    • Provide monthly reporting and cost control.
    • Train technical staff.

    Desired Skills and Expertise:

    • Pr Eng
    • Min 5 years’ post-graduate experience in Transportation Infrastructure (particularly planning, pavement engineering, geometric design, stormwater drainage design, contract administration, and stormwater drainage design, contract administration and supervision of roads contracts.)
    • Experience in road rehabilitation design.
    • Proven track record in the management of a design office.
    • Able to work independently and interact with relevant stakeholders at management level.

    Sales:

    • Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, Sales results and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans.
    • Compute Selling Price Factors
    • Computing pricing models on projects and one-on-one sales when required
    • Management:
    • Management, assisting and guidance of 2 employees.
    • General meetings with co-managers and employees regarding any operational subjects that needs attention
    • Monthly Executive Business Review:
    • Compile any additional information requested before meetings
    • Attend meeting

    Annual/ Bi-Annual Functions:

    • EMP Tax: Approve submission to SARS (bi-annually) and distribute EMP's to employees (annually)
    • Company Tax: Approve provisional Tax computations payments (bi-annually)
    • Assist in preparation of Audit File for Auditors
    • Complete Fraud and Error Questionnaire

    Year- End Review:

    • Compile reports necessary for the year-end review meeting
    • Compile annual budget

    Financial Management of Subsidiary Company:

    • Check TB and do reclassification journals (if needed)
    • Do Exchange rate update journal
    • Compile Financial Statements
