    Cost Controller - Tshwane

    Introduction to the role

    You will be required to assist the Lead Cost Engineer and Project Controls Manager (if applicable) in planning, monitoring and reporting the status of project manhours, indirect costs, capital costs and owner’s costs (if applicable) by applying relevant cost management methodology, procedures and systems. The supporting and managing multiple major projects and / or provide cost control support to a number of smaller projects and studies to compile and co-ordinate the smooth running of the company projects and studies’ cost reports, in support of the relevant project / study managers.

    Role responsibilities

    • Assist the lead cost engineer and project controls manager in developing cost control procedures and practices for inclusion in the project management plan. Comply with and carry out regular reviews of the procedures and update as required.
    • Assist with the compilation of the baseline budget to the agreed WBS from the control budget estimate (CBE) that was agreed to by the client for:
    • Liaise with contract administrators and procurement officers to allocate budget amounts for packages.
    • Provide expert cost engineering services to the project.
    • Establish and maintain histograms, S-curves, KPI’s, graphs / curves for recording and monthly status reporting of project costs and forecasting.
    • Facilitate the assessment of forecast to complete (FTC) and forecast at completion (FAC) costs with the relevant project personnel and update the applied project cost control system accordingly.
    • Prepare cost reports showing the original budget, current budget, commitments, FAC, incurred and expended values and variances.
    • Assist in the compilation of project close out reports by preparation and submission of cost control data.

    Minimum requirements

    • A relevant degree in Commerce, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or alternatively a project controls related qualification/certification – CCT / CCP.
    • Minimum of 5 or more years experience gained in site and/or office environment in design and construct projects delivery in the areas of cost control or alternatively in a cost and management accountant role in the mining, construction or manufacturing industries.
    • Advanced skills in the cost control process of multi-discipline EPCM and EPC projects or alternatively in cost and management accounting processes in the mining, construction, or manufacturing industries.
    • Exposure to the use of commercial cost management software.
    • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office software.
    • Data skills and ability to deal with large data sets to provide meaningful reports.
    • Knowledge of applied company and project cost control systems.

    BIM Co-Ordinator / Lead - (Tshwane, Cape Town)

    The role names of BIM Coordinator and BIM Lead are often used synonymously in industry. In Zutari we acknowledge regional preferences, whereby some geographies commonly use the term ‘BIM Coordinator’ while in other geographies the term ‘BIM Lead’ is preferred. We allow both terms to be used, provided that the term used for your project is clearly indicated in the BEP.

    A BIM (Building Information Modeling) Coordinator/Lead is a professional who specializes in the coordination and management of BIM processes and workflows within the construction industry. Their primary role is to ensure effective collaboration among project stakeholders by utilizing BIM technology to create, manage, and exchange accurate and consistent digital information throughout the project lifecycle. In this role you will be expected to develop and maintain the BIM Execution Plan, and other documentation such as Digital Risk Assessment, Capability & Capacity Assessments, Mobilization Plan, Responsibility Matrices.

    Role and Responsibilities:

    • BIM Project Planning and Implementation: The BIM Coordinator/Lead is responsible for the develop and implement a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) that outlines the project-specific BIM requirements, standards, and protocols. The BIM Coordinator/Lead will have to coordinate the integration of BIM workflows into the project's overall plan.
    • BIM Standards and Quality Assurance: The BIM Coordinator/Lead is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the BIM standards and best practices, to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality in the creation and management of BIM models. The BIM Coordinator/Lead is required to conduct regular quality checks to identify and rectify any issues or discrepancies in the models.
    • BIM Model Coordination: The BIM Coordinator/Lead oversees the coordination and integration of different discipline-specific BIM models (such as civil, utilities, structural, and other infrastructure related disciplines) to create a federated model. This is to ensure that the models are clash-free and properly coordinated, minimizing conflicts and coordination issues among various disciplines.
    • Clash Detection and Resolution: Using specialized BIM software, the BIM Coordinator/Lead will perform the clash detection analysis to identify clashes and conflicts between different elements or systems in the BIM models. This role collaborates with project team members to resolve clashes and ensure the compatibility and coordination of various design and construction components.
    • Collaboration and Communication: The BIM Coordinator/Lead acts as a bridge between different project stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and collaboration. They coordinate BIM-related information exchange among architects, engineers, contractors, and other team members, ensuring seamless collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
    • BIM Model Maintenance and Federation: The BIM Coordinator/Lead is responsible for managing and updating the BIM and Federated models. The BIM Coordinator/Lead will ensure that the models reflect the latest design changes, construction progress, and as-built information, providing an accurate representation of the project's status.
    • BIM Training and Support: The BIM Coordinator/Lead provides training and technical support to project team members regarding BIM sofware, workflows, and processes. This role help team members develop the necessary skills and competencies to effectively use BIM tools and contribute to the project's BIM objectives.
    • BIM Innovation and Continuous Improvement: The BIM Coordinator/Lead stays updated with the latest BIM technologies, industry trends, and advancements. The BIM Coordinator/Lead will be required to explore innovative ways to enhance BIM processes, improve project outcomes, and drive continuous improvement within the organization.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • Education: N.Dip/B.Tech or better qualification in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications in BIM (such as Autodesk Certified Professional) are advantageous.
    • Experience: An engineering background is preferable (i.e. civils/utilities/transport), with a minimum of 5 years' BIM related experience. Experience working on large scale infrastructure projects will be advantageous.
    • BIM Software Proficiency: In-depth knowledge and proficiency in BIM software tools like Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, or other industry-standard BIM platforms. This proficiency could also be in the Bentley suit of software.
    • Collaboration Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse project team members, both internal and external.
    • Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to identify and resolve clashes and conflicts within the BIM models.
    • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in BIM models and documentation.
    • Time Management: Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet project deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with construction industry practices, standards, and regulations, as well as an understanding of architectural, structural, and MEP systems. Awareness of the requirements of information management standards such as the ISO19650, is essential
    • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving BIM technologies, industry trends, and project requirements.

    Senior Civil Design Engineer

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide civil work expertise’s in complex, Mining, Industrial, petrochemical and/or Energy Infrastructure projects
    • Lead and manage Civil Engineers and designs on integrated  projects

    Wet Utilities Engineer ( Cape Town, Tshwane)

    • Design gravity and pressure networks for masterplan, transportation and highway projects

    Qualifications and Experience: 

    • BEng / BSc (Hon) in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline with minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience.
    • Although not essential, a MEng / MSc degree would be advantageous.
    • Candidate member of an associated Professional body
    • Experience and proven ability to assist in delivering projects and coordinate with multiple disciplines.
    • Experience of MS Office Suite of Programmes, SharePoint, ProjectWise, etc.
    • Experience in technical design and associated discipline software.

    Electrical Engineer

    Responsibilities:

    • Substation Primary Plant design (Develop SLD, GA, Sections, EarthGrid, Trenches and Conduit layout)
    • Earthing design in CDEGS
    • Underground cable design in CYMCAP
