    Academic Facilitator (25 hours per week) (Academic year) (contract appointment: 3 years)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    •     Facilitate Legal Skills and Introduction to Law classes.
    •     Plan contact sessions and educational materials in consultation with the module coordinator/s.
    •     Maintain sensitivity towards students who experience problems.
    •     Maintain appropriate discipline in classroom sessions to facilitate teaching and learning.
    •     Keep student records in terms of marks and attendance.

    Teaching and Learning Coordinator: Obstetrics and Gynaecology

    Duties and responsibilities:

    •     Provide and/or co-ordinate Clinical training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
    •     Provide support and training if required in all sites in the Free State including but not limited to Trompsburg, secondary level hospitals, primary care facilities, etc.

    Chief Officer: Integrated Student Recruitment Marketing (post level 8)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Work with the office the Director, Student Recruitment Services (SRS).
    • Develop and implement strategies to market and promote the UFS product offerings to current and potential target markets as part of the Student Recruitment Services’ (SRS) team.
    • Develop institutional student recruitment strategies and measure the impact on the implementation thereof as part of the Student Recruitment Services’ team.
    • Research innovation and technology integration and develop new value proposition tactics to attract prospective students.
    • Market research on marketing trends, conduct competitor analysis and propose, execute and measure impact of intervention strategies, working with the SRS team.

    •     Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Sociology.
    •     Provide study guidance and supervision to final year and postgraduate students.
    •     Initiate and conduct high-level research and sustain quality research outputs.
    •     Active participation and involvement in applicable UFS management structures.
    •     Contribute in building an effective team of scholars.
    •     Contribute to programme development and curriculum review within the Department and the Faculty of Humanities.
    •     Participate in engaged scholarship initiatives.
    •     Recruit senior students for postgraduate studies.
    •     Perform organisational and administrative duties.
    •     Introduce and teach in a specific Sociology specialisation that can contribute to the Faculty's academic streams.

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    •     A PhD in Sociology or cognate discipline on NQF level10(for a permanent position) Or 
    •     A Master’s degree in Sociology or cognate discipline on NQF level 9 (contract appointment: 5 years during which a PhD on NQF level 10 MUST be obtained to be converted into a permanent position) .
    •     A minimum of five (3) years’ lecturing experience in Sociology at an institution of higher learning.
    •     A minimum of five (3) years’ lecturing experience in Sociology at an institution of higher learning.
    •     Experience in teaching, Introduction to Sociology, social theory, sociology of development, research methods and other variations of sociology.
    •     Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences.

    Recommendations:

    •     A PhD in Sociology or cognate discipline on NQF level 10 will be advantageous.
