    Teaching and Learning Coordinator: Obstetrics and Gynaecology

    Duties and responsibilities:

    •     Provide and/or co-ordinate Clinical training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
    •     Provide support and training if required in all sites in the Free State including but not limited to Trompsburg, secondary level hospitals, primary care facilities, etc.
    •     Teach, evaluate, assess and monitor throughput of undergraduate Obstetrics and Gynaecology discipline modules.
    •     Provide clinical training of UFS undergraduate MBChB students and Cuban trained South African students (Nelson Mandela Fidel Castro Medical Programme [NMFCMP]).
    •     Assist with the management of assessments in Obstetrics and Gynaecology discipline modules for undergraduate students, including coordination, development, implementation, evaluation and administration of assessments.
    •     Provide student support.
    •     Be involved in the general academic programme of the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
    •     Conduct research related to medical education.
    •     Liaise with the head of department and lecturers in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, as well as with the Phase Ill chair, Programme Director and fellow Teaching and Learning coordinators in clinical departments.
    •     Contribute to curriculum development in the relevant MBChB programmes (Obstetrics and Gynaecology disciplines).
    •     Develop teaching and learning material and assessment tools.
    •     Provide quality assurance services in the undergraduate curriculum.

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    •     MBChB and five (5) years' experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or a Specialist qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
    •     Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an independent medical practitioner.
    •     Proven experience in teaching at undergraduate level.
    •     A good academic record.

    Recommendations:

    •     Postgraduate qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
    •     Postgraduate qualification in medical education.
    •     Proven experience in research in medical education.
    •     Valid driver's license.
    •     Willingness to travel to clinical training sites of the School of Clinical Medicine.
