    Middle School Principal (Grades 6 to 8)

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • A Master's degree in Education or Leadership
    • Valid licensure and/or certification
    • Significant experience in middle school education
    • Prior leadership experience, preferably as a building principal
    • Experience in both large and small school environments
    • Familiarity with international school settings
    • Deep understanding of concept-based curricula, inquiry learning, and associated pedagogies
    • A proven commitment to being a student-centered and inclusive professional
    • Experience in delivering U.S.-based curriculum and standards.

    • Articulate and implement a clear vision for our middle school

    • Support faculty growth through professional development initiatives
    • Engage with the wider school community, including families and caregivers, to ensure a positive school culture.
    •  Address challenges such as enrollment fluctuations and staff retention with creativity and resilience
    • Manage student discipline, attendance, and overall engagement, fostering a safe and productive learning environment.
    • Oversee scheduling, staffing, and budget management for the efficient operation of the middle school.
    • Advocate for and implement innovative practices and improvements in educational programs and operations.
    • Ensure relevant regulations, policies, and safety standards are adhered to.

    Elementary Learning Support (Maternity Cover)

    Qualifications and Experience 

    • Degree in Special Education (master’s degree preferred)
    • Bachelor of Education
    •  K – 12 or K – 5 license or certification

    Preferred Skills and Experience

    • Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers to meet the needs of all students within their class
    • Recent professional development in various areas of special education
    • Experience with using various co-teaching models
    • Experience as a classroom teacher
    •  A solid understanding of the characteristics of a socially and emotionally literate school
    • Proven ability to work in a diverse school environment
    • Experience in working with emotional and behavioral disabilities
    • Ability to interpret educational psychological assessments and academic assessments
    •  Knowledge of learning disabilities and learning disorders
    • Knowledge of the language learning process
    • Experience and training in the delivery of a highly structured tier three reading program.

    General Teaching Responsibilities

    In addition to the specialist level expectations, teachers at AISJ are welcomed into a collegial and collaborative working environment. In support of this, teachers are expected to:

    • Communicate and liaise on a regular basis with fellow team department/grade members with regards to planning, assessment, parent and community contact, subject organization and classroom issues such including discipline, expectations and routines
    • Communicate and liaise with other school colleagues in an effort to promote and social and emotional awareness
    • Take an active role in behavioral management
    • Attend and constructively contribute to staff meetings
    • Assist in supervision of student breaks 
    • Coordinate class activities as deemed necessary
    • Maintain up-to-date records of assessment, attendance, planning, reports, conferences, and communication with families
    • Establish links with the parent community to ensure that parents are kept well informed about student progress
    • Participate in and assist with school events as required

    Middle School Librarian Teacher Partner (Maternity Cover)

    Qualifications:

    • Previous experience working with young adults
    • An excellent level of spoken and written English
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Enthusiastic, creative and committed to working with patrons
    • Flexibility and a desire to create and inspire
    • An interest in young adult literature and an active reader
    • Ability to present academic oriented material in a classroom environment
    • School library experience preferred

    Preferred skills and experience

    Preferred Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

    • A degree/diploma in library science, or work toward such a degree
    • Experience in working in schools and educational environments
    • An interest in and ability   to utilize technology

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Manages cataloging of print and non-print material across the four school libraries
    • Assists with the general preparation and organization of supplies and materials
    • Assists students and teachers in location of print and non-print resources
    • Serves as main point of circulation of material for all patrons
    • Conducts annual inventory of material
    • Maintains the collection: shelving, shelf reading, and organization
    • Works with students to support their needs on an individual and/or small group basis in the library setting
    • Supervises students as per school policy (conduct, dress code, etc.)
    • Participates in curriculum and staff development opportunities as required
    • Maintains a high level of professional competence through in-service education and professional growth activities.
    • Helps promote the library and reading as part of the AISJ library team
    • Other tasks as determined by the librarian or principal
    • Help foster a place of creativity and inspiration
