    Ops Specialist: Database Administrator - Centurion

    Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

    • Compile and maintain the integrity of a Configuration Management Data Base in alignment with BCX’s standards and using the BCX prescribed systems.
    • Utilise the BCX Remedy system for request, incident and problem handling, rectifying and implementing preventative actions as and when required.
    • Continuously monitor performance, analyse trends and tune database for optimum performance and record and build a known error database (KEDB) for Problem Handling (R&D).
    • Build and maintain a network of support structures e.g. vendors, employees, user groups etc. for consultation purposes.
    • Continuously stay abreast with the latest release versions and ensure approval of new versions through a user’s acceptance testing (UAT) and quality assurance (QA) process; design and execute a release implementation plan; maintain the Definitive Software Library (DSL); and install, maintain and report license issues as and when they occur. 
    • Continuously monitor and report on space utilisation, execute trend analysis, alerts and escalation; monitor memory utilisation and Central Processing Unit (CPU) at all times.
    • Devise monitoring methodology and processes, utilise the appropriate toolsets and report on the availability or uptime.
    • Identify, propose and implement appropriate toolsets for an effective back-up strategy to ensure continuity of services and monitor the back-up strategy on a continuous basis. Validate a DR Plan for the data base(s) under the data centre management, consider the replication, snapshots or remote copy as applicable.

    Core Functional Skills & Knowledge

    • Best Practice in Database Administration; ITIL & Quality Management Principles; Microsoft Office Suite; Remedy System Operation. Oracle Database product licensing knowledge desirable.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • NQF 6: 3 year Degree/ Diploma/ National Diploma
    • OR NQF 4: Grade 12
    • Additional Qualification preferred or advantage

    Experience

    • 3 years’ experience in the administration of databases.
    • Alternatively, 5+ years’ experience in administration of databases.
    • Oracle, AWS or Azure cloud experience/certification, 1+ years, advantageous

    Tech Officer: Jnr Facilities Controller - Stellenbosch

    Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

    • Ensure the control, distribution and filing of quality standards.
    • Create procedures and standards, in alignment with documented procedures.
    • Identify changes required to quality standards or current practices as a result of an audit and take responsibility for ensuring that they are made, either directly or indirectly
    • Document and verify all computer room access requests within the Data Centre.
    • Ensure daily health checks are performed and documented. This will include facilities health checks and data centre environmental health checks.
    • Repair and or remediate ICT Power related equipment.
    • Ensure Data Centre security protocols are adhered to and enforced.
    • Execute all related tasks within the facilities/ computer room areas with the focus on SLA management and delivery against these.
    • Ensure that fire safety regulations are adhered to.

    • Manage and track quotes of actual client orders
    • Upload and maintain the accuracy of contract information
    • Manage and track Won Not Billed opportunities and orders
    • Monitor order tracking through Sales co-ordination

    Tech Officer: Quoting (Centurion)

    Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

    • Support the qualification process to ensure effort is only applied to valid and viable opportunities. 
    • Follow all agreements and commitments from contributing parties in the formulation of the quoting process. 
    • Consolidate inputs received (costing, technical designs, T&Cs, service descriptions, etc) to formulate quality and compliant quote responses according to BCX governance. 
    • Ensure final quote production (formatting, grammar checks and printing) are completed within agreed timelines. 
    • Hands-on operational management of the quoting phases.  
    • Pro-actively devise improvements and recommend changes to systems, products or services. 
    • Effectively and timeously provide and report on information, required for managerial decision making and for other stakeholders. 
    • Skilful price negotiation with Distributor and/or OEM. 
    • Obtain basic understanding of products being sold to ensure correct product offerings.   
    • Executing of queries including offering alternative in stock items. 
    • Ensure minimum margin requirements are met and process of approving margin deviation from guidelines are followed.  
    • Maintain and Manage Renewal contract for existing and new customers.

    Spec: Service Delivery - Alberton
