    Artisan Mechanical

    Job Summary:

    The purpose of this role is to ensure maximum availability of plant and equipment with minimum downtime by effectively performing preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance.

    Main Responsibilities (not limited to):

    • To test equipment and components thereof in order to identify faults.
    • To repair equipment or components thereof to the required standards (SHE and good workmanship) to reinstate its normal operating condition.
    • To respond immediately to work requests in order to reduce the impact of equipment downtime.
    • To execute preventive maintenance tasks in order to retain its reliability.
    • To ensure relevant resources, tools, and equipment are available to perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance effectively.
    • To participate in root cause analysis processes, providing relevant information and recommendations and execute corrective measures.
    • To ensure safety regulations, procedures, and standards are adhered to by identifying hazards associated with assigned tasks and escalating hazards that cannot be mitigated.
    • To report any incidents, injuries, and near misses.
    • To supervise and train Artisan Assistants and Apprentices on assigned tasks.

    The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:

    • Grade 12
    • N6 Mechanical Engineering Diploma
    • Mechanical Trade Test Certificate
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Artisan

    Stores Person

    Job Summary:

    The purpose of this role is to administer tools, equipment, and consumables of the Plant and Equipment Maintenance (PEM) store and receive goods from the central warehouse.

    Main Responsibilities (not limited to):

    • To maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and consumables, to support the PEM function.
    • To report missing and damaged tools and equipment to the workshop supervisor as part of stock maintenance.
    • To conduct stock taking as and when required, in order to ensure the correct levels of inventory.
    • To record incoming and outgoing tools, equipment, and consumables, in order to track usage and consumption thereof.
    • To mark/tag tools and equipment for storage and asset administration.
    • To assist Artisans and Technicians with executing maintenance activities to the required standard.
    • Perform Housekeeping duties for the workshop and other working areas.
    • Comply with SHEQ legislation, internal policies, and procedures.
    • Actively identify and report potential hazards in order to mitigate risks.

    The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:

    • Grade 12; or
    • N3 Engineering
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an engineering workshop environment or equivalent

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Engineering tools and equipment.
    • Basic administration.
    • Numerical Skills.
    • Verbal Communication.
    • Computer Literacy.

    Operator Logistics

    Purpose:

    To safely pack and stack product, substrate, stock items, and final product, and to operate forklift, guillotines, shredders, and compactors.

    Key Responsibilities (not limited to):

    • To ensure the preparation of product involving substrate and stock items.
    • To ensure safe operations of forklift equipment.
    • To ensure safe operation of guillotine.
    • To ensure safe operation of Vaculex.
    • To ensure that the product and stock items are marked clearly for identification.
    • To unpack final product for dispatch on receipt from the Finishing Department.
    • To ensure effective and safe shredder operations.
    • To ensure all working areas are clean and tidy at all times.
    • To comply with all safety, health, and environmental and risk requirements as communicated by the section head in handling all products.
    • Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations are adhered to in line with the legal requirements for both.
    • Identify hazards associated with assigned tasks and escalate hazards that cannot be mitigated.
    • To perform other tasks as assigned within your ability.

    The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:

    • Grade 12
    • Forklift Driver’s License (Essential)
    • Guillotine Operators Certificate (Desirable)
    • Compactor Operators (Desirable)
    • 1 - 2 years’ experience within a warehousing environment and forklift driving will be added advantage

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Packing and Stacking
    • Shredder Compactor Operation
    • Forklift operation
