    Starke Ayres: Supervisor (Operations)

    Description

    Starke Ayres is the foremost African specialist and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower and lawn seed varieties – both for commercial and home garden planting. The following position has become available for a Operations Supervisor, based in Cape Town. The purpose of this role is to maximize the sales of the Company’s nursery range of products through effective displays maintenance of sales areas and assistance to customers in a helpful and friendly manner, offering advise as and when required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides excellent, professional customer service at all times and fostering a positive working environment on the nursery floor, ensuring a positive shopping experience
    • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all sales areas of the Nursery and to ensure that it is in a clean and tidy condition at all times
    • Maintenance of all nursery sales areas
    • Ensure that sales staff provides excellent, professional customer service at all times, ensuring positive shopping experience
    • Delegating tasks to the Assistant Nursery Supervisor or Sales Assistants as per Management instruction
    • Ensure that all company procedures are executed in the correct manner by sales staff.
    • Monitor stock levels daily and reports shortages/requirements to Line Manager.
    • Provide workers with assistance in performing duties as necessary to meet deadlines.
    • Monitor sales activities to ensure that customers receive satisfactory service and quality goods.
    • Identify difficult and complicated sales scenarios and intervenes swiftly.
    • Execute advertising campaigns and sales promotions, and prepare displays.
    • Assist in building, lay out, of marketing concepts, oversee the repackaging of promotional material
    • Co-ordination between buyers both GC's Promos / Activities / Non-Profits on site / Setting up in store
    • Co-ordinates with Buyers and suppliers seasonal training every Friday 60 minutes for all branch staff chemicals, fertilisers, tools, plants and related items on sale.
    • Issuing of C3 for City Council

    Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Education:

    • A National Senior Certificate (NQF level 4) (essential)
    • Horticulture Diploma/Degree (advantageous)

    Experience:

    • Nursery Assistant experience for at least 1 Year
    • Nursery Supervisor experience 3 years

    • Garden Centre Plant and Product knowledge
    • Computer literate
    • Friendly and approachable appearance

    Starke Ayres: Merchandiser - Potchefstroom

    Description

    The following position of a Merchandiser has become available in the Potchefstroom area. The purpose of this position is to stimulate and promote sales of Starke Ayres’ approved range of products at store level by ensuring that the products are displayed in a neat, highly visible and attractive manner, within the framework of Company policy as determined from time to time.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist in unpacking and price marking of Company products at specific retailers where required.
    • Ensure that products on display are neatly and attractively arranged and not shop-soiled.
    • Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained.
    • Identifies problems and weaknesses that may be the cause of an inadequate stock turnover and/or poor sales.
    • Assist in the erection of promotional displays as and when required.
    • Undertake stock counts at specific retailers as required timeously, prior to replacement orders being taken.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12

    • 6 months experience as a store clerk, picker packer, or learner merchandiser.

    Mascor: Shop Supervisor - Komatipoort

    Description

    The position for a Shop supervisor at the Caltex Fuel branch of Mascor has become available. This position will ensure the profitability of the shop as well as maintaining the stock and customer service levels.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    SUPERVISORY

    • Assist the manager with scheduling, training and supervising shop employees.
    • Assist manager with recruitment.
    • Schedule daily job assignments for shop employees.
    • Assist manager to ensure daily operating procedures are adhered to.
    • Enforce compliance of franchise & Company policies and QPRO in store operations.
    • Ensure that all promotions are posted timeously.
    • Capture all relevant information onto the relevant systems daily.
    • Complete all relevant administrative entries as required.

    STOCK

    • Ensure all stock is displayed according to franchise planogram standards.
    • Ensure stock rotation to prevent expired stock.
    • Order stock weekly.
    • Clear negative stock on hand.
    • Transfer stock from the shop to the kitchen.
    • Control shrinkage & wastages of stock within industry benchmarks.
    • Supervise the weekly stock take.
    • Optimal display and availability of stock on all shelves.
    • Housekeeping – ensure stock storerooms are neat and tidy.

    KITCHEN

    • Adjust recipies as needed.
    • Ensure correct pricing to achieve GP percentages.
    • Limit waste to industry benchmarks.

    HEALTH AND SAFETY

    • Health and safety regulations should be more than 90% according to franchise standards.
    • Ensure all areas are clean and safe.
    • Address customer and franchise enquiries timeously.
    • Ensure that all employees are dressed in the correct uniform.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Qualifications:

    • MinGrade 12
    • Ideal: Certificate in business management

    Experience:

    • Proven work experience as a shop supervisor in the fuel retailing industry.

    Legal Requirements:

    • Valid drivers license
