    Assistant Officer: Junior Online Assessment Specialist (post level 13)

    About the Job

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Create and schedule e-assessments in Questionmark/LMS.
    • Schedule participants in e-assessments on Questionmark.
    • Download grades and reports on Questionmark/LMS.
    • Provide general system administration on Questionmark as required.
    • Follow divisional procedures regarding e-assessments on Questionmark/LMS.
    • Assist in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of training workshops regarding e-assessment.
    • Train students in the use of e-assessment software (Questionmark and LMS).
    • Provide data analysis support for various Curriculum Delivery research projects related to e-assessment.
    • Prepare and develop e-assessments on Questionmark/LMS, including, but not limited to
    • Creation of question banks
    • Migration of question banks
    • Compilation of report on assessment results, including overall class performance.
    • Provide first-line support to academic staff regarding the development of e-assessment activities.
    • Follow divisional procedure regarding the development of e-assessment activities on Questionmark/LMS.
    • Attend to student queries regarding e-assessment activities on Questionmark/LMS.
    • Provide first-line technical support and troubleshooting in the use of Questionmark/LMS.
    • Follow divisional procedure regarding the reporting and follow-up of technical problems and troubleshooting.

    Inherent Job Requirements

    • Grade 12 or National Vocational Certificate on NQF level 4.

    Recommendations

    • Post-school qualification.
    • One year experience in the use of a Learning Management System (LMS) or e-assessment system.
    • One year experience in training and/or research administration.
    • One year experience in a higher education environment.

    Salary:

    • The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is R211 391. 43 – R354 408.50 per annum, depending on the budget available for the position, relevant work experience and qualifications.

    Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (Urban and Regional Planning/ Human Settlements)

    About the Job

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Initiate, sustain, and provide quality research outputs.
    • Provide research leadership and mentorship.
    • Teach and assess postgraduate students.
    • Provide study leadership at postgraduate level.
    • Participate in community engagement initiatives where possible.
    • Recruit and supervise postgraduate students.
    • Attract external funding where possible.
    • Perform general administration duties as applicable at university level.

    Inherent requirements:
    Senior Lecturer

    • A PhD in Urban and Regional Planning/ Human Settlements/ closely related discipline on NQF Level 10.
    • Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences.
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
    • An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
    • Proven experience in supervision of graduated master’s-degree students.
    • A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals.
    • Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels.

    Associate Professor

    • A PhD in Urban and Regional Planning/ Human Settlements/ closely related discipline on NQF Level 10.
    • Experience as external examiner for postgraduate students.
    • Proven experience in the presentation of research papers at national conferences, where there is evidence of peer review of papers.
    • Acted as an editorial board member of high-quality national scholarly journals.
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research leadership in a specific scientific area of scholarship.
    • An NRF rating of C3 or equivalent status.
    • Proven experience in the supervision of graduated master’s-degree students.
    • A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals.
    • Served as a member of a national scholarly society OR a national committee or agency concerned with research at higher education levels, OR showed evidence of service as an active member of an international equivalent.

    Recommendations:

    • Lecturing /teaching experience.
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research leadership in a specific area of scholarship.
