    Social Performance Specialist: Contractor Management

    Job Description

    The purpose of the role is to act as the interface between Venetia’s Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact team and the Supply Chain function in order to:

    • Play a critical role in the sourcing and tendering process, representing Social Performance in cross function evaluation teams
    • Evaluate scopes of work that will go out to market for social risks and impacts. Contributing these insights in the development of tender documentation
    • Ensure that social performance requirements are incorporated into the site’s procurement processes and procedures in accordance with the Social Way 3.0 section on Contractor Social Management
    • Identify socially material contracts and social and human rights impacts and risks associated with contractors’ scopes of work.
    • Ensure the tender and contracting process gives due consideration to social performance requirements by evaluating scopes of work that will go out to market for social risks and impacts. Contributing these insights in the development of tender documentation
    • Evaluate contractors’ social management planning and implementation and provide support and training as required to prevent or minimize social and human rights impacts and risks and contribute to socio-economic development of communities in Venetia’s area of influence.
    • Ensure that stakeholder engagement, grievance and incident management, and commitments related to contractor management is conducted in and integrated and holistic manner.
    • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of social performance by contractors in order to ensure compliance by individual contractors and continuous improvement overall.
    • Lead the Contractor Social Performance Steering Committees, engaging internal and contractor stakeholders to ensure that the committee drives the intended outcomes as outlined in the Anglo American Social Way 3

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline

    Experience

    • Minimum of 2 – 5 years’ experience in either Social Performance or Supply Chain, mainly Supply Chain
    • Experience of implementing the Anglo American Social Way management system is highly desirable
    • Experience in managing projects/large programmes of work.
    • Experience in managing contractors.
    • Experience in systems implementation and change management.
    • Demonstrated success in multi-disciplinary collaboration.
    • Proven track record of dealing with external stakeholders.
    • Extractive sector experience highly desirable

    Planthand - L2

    Job Description

    • Perform pre-start checks for abnormalities on equipment and assist Process Operator by physically checking whether plant is functioning after starting and stopping of treatment plants
    • Keep Process Operator informed on physical condition of the operational treatment plant, through continuous audio visual inspections of the various pieces of equipment for anomalies.
    • Execute cleaning and maintenance functions in the plant as instructed by either the MPS, Process Controller or the Process Operator.
    • In response to instructions from the Process Controller or Operator, implement appropriate action to the occurrence of critical parameter anomalies in the treatment plant, and provide feedback on the status of the situation.
    • Assist Process Operator in conducting scheduled efficiency tests, as directed by Process Controller, on the various sections of the plant, and record the relevant equipment measurements as required by test procedures.
    • Ensure effective operation of the treatment plant by inspecting, replacing and adding of plant consumables.
    • Assume the duties of the Process Operator as and when reasonably required.
    • Guide and assist new Plant Hands on the correct safe practices, upon their being instructed to assist in the plant, when necessary
    • Ensures that treatment plant and all of its equipment is kept clean, through removing waste where necessary.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 or NQF equivalent
    • Completion of the Plant Training Modules will be an advantage
    • Processing plant exposure and experience will be an advantage

    Section Manager Communication Operations

     

    Job Description

    • Responsible for the management of all operational communication – internal and external, as well as brand compliance – for the Amandelbult Complex.

    Your day-to-day duties will include:

    Safety & Health

    Performance & Delivery

    Operational Planning:

    • Develop and implement operational strategies and an integrated communication plan for the complex aligned to the AAP and AA plc business strategies

    Work Management

    • Implement an Operating Model communication plan (with support from the project communication lead) for the complex and embed OM communications in the operation
    • Support the leadership team and line management in executing their communication responsibilities
    • Partner with Corporate Communications to support Platinum and Group initiatives
    • Gather, prepare, and gain approval of content for our channels such as Engage, newsletters, community newspapers, Eureka, website, etc.
    • Ensuring deadlines are met for our regular employee publications e.g. community newspapers, Pulse newsletter, etc.
    • Review all internal and external publications to ensure consistency of message and quality of output
    • Overall responsibility for Operation’s content on the Engage app, and driving employee take-up and engagement on the app
    • Regular updates on the Engage app to ensure content is up-to-date, relevant and engaging
    • Identify issues impacting the operation and develop communication interventions as required (e.g., safety campaigns)
    • Responsiveness to senior management requests and relevance of advice and approach provided
    • Awareness of company strategy and actions amongst employees (e.g. employee surveys and communicating results)
    • Do environmental scanning and analysis and guide Corporate Communication on operational risks and issues that may require an integrated response
    • Responsiveness to operational requests for support for Social Performance and other teams within the business in their engagement efforts
    • Coordinates crisis communication on site and work closely together with corporate communication to support them in responding to media queries and requests
    • As the custodian of the Anglo-American brand, takes responsibility and ownership to ensure compliance across the Complex
    • Support the HOD team in the delivery of communications to all employees and manage internal and external events as and when required

    This role is in the CA & SI department at a band 6 level reporting to the Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact Manager, with a dotted reporting line to the Head of Communications

    Qualifications

    Qualifications and experience:

    • Degree / Diploma in Communications, Journalism
    • Postgraduate qualification (advantage)
    • 3 years’ experience in leading and supporting the delivery of effective communications strategies
    • Experience in the development and implementation of integrated communication plans in a complex environment
    • Mining industry experience (advantage)
    • Proven experience of interfacing with and influencing colleagues and senior management
    • Experience of newspaper/newsletter publishing
    • Experience in managing digital channels and drive audience engagement
