    Development Chemist

    • As the successful incumbent you will be responsible for the innovation, creation, formulation and development of products for Indigo Brands as required.

     Line Manager: R&D Manager

    Job Specification:
    Key Performance Areas:

     New Product Development:

    • Proactively creates and develops innovative and differentiated new cosmetic product solutions
    • Creates and develops new products as per requirements of the different brand strategies and agendas
    • Identifies product and process performance improvements and cost reduction

     Product Testing:

    • Conduct studies on product safety testing

     Final Product Specification:

    • Compiling of mass/bulk/base specifications
    • Provides mass/bulk/base specifications and standards for product realization and commercialization

     Administration and reporting:

    • Participates and represents the Formulation Development Laboratory by providing, interpreting and communicating technical formulation information and development status
    • Maintaining and updating the product safety records

    Minimum Requirements:
    Experience:                                                                   

    • 3 years’ experience in product and formulation development environment within a similar industry
    • GMP & GLP experience
    • Colour differentiation and sensitivity
    • Relevant and up to date products and formulation compliance knowledge

     Qualifications:

    • Matric
    • Analytical Chemistry / Biology Diploma or similar
    • BSC Degree in Science (Chemistry; Microbiology; Biology; Chemical engineer)
    • Coschem Diploma advantageous

     Additional Requirements:

    • Knowledge of the Cosmetic Industry
    • FMCG exposure will be advantageous
    • The ability to utilize technical and scientific knowledge to formulate safe quality cosmetic product
    • Analytical competence to interpret product testing and experimental designs, results and analysis
    • Keep abreast of the latest regulations and research pertaining to cosmetic products and raw materials
    • Teamwork and interpersonal skills to develop products that meet consumer needs
    • Written and oral communication
    • Computer literacy skills, MS Office Suite
    • Working in fast-paced environment, managing multiple, changing priorities simultaneously

    DTP and In-House Designer

    • The purpose of this role is to produce brand visual communications for multiple brands within the Indigo Brands portfolio. This will be required for both internal and external communication mediums and then translated or adapted for the relevant advertising platform. Key brand concepts will be provided from the lead creative agency and will require your ability to translate and adapt these for multiple marketing channels, including retailer point of sale, digital assets, print ads, banners, website and social media content. 

    The position interfaces largely with the Brand and Trade Marketing, as well as external agencies who provide the lead creative assets. 

    Line Manager: Marketing Manager

    Job Specification:

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Trade Marketing Artwork
    • Brand Marketing artwork for catalogues, brochures, print advertising, websites and advertising assets for various campaigns
    • Social media content creation

    Experience:                                                                   

    • 2-3 years’ experience within experience in Adobe Design Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
    • 2-3 years’ working knowledge and experience in DTP layouts and concepts
    • 2-3 years’ experience in Adobe After Effects/ Video editing and adaptions
    • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and adapting artwork for digital spaces

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 / NQF4
    • Relevant qualification in Graphic Design or Applied Design

    Certifications

    • Basic DTP output skills, Intermediate Design Suite, Mac OSX skills essential
    • Experience in Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server and/or Windows SharePoint Services an advantage.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Understand the category and brands in order to translate brand creative concepts and adapt these appropriately for multiple marketing platforms.
    • This role requires working with the relevant Brand Manager to gain an understanding of what the brand needs to implement and use this brief to translate and deliver final artwork to either suppliers or internal stakeholders.
    • Work with Marketing and Trade Marketing to align the brief from the very beginning, according to the Brand Guide.
    • Manage and be accountable for the timely delivery of artwork required.
