    Compliance Officer | Compliance | Assurance

    Role responsibilities

    • Drafting, maintaining, and enhancing Compliance Monitoring Plans (“CMPs”) 
    • Determining the amount, frequency and type of monitoring needed to satisfy the CMPs.
    • Monitoring of relevant legislation/ internal rules and/ or policies impacting the business, including wider legislative, regulatory, company and industry standards, and pro-actively assists the business in implementing new and/or amended regulatory requirements.
    • Draft and submit status, committee and/ or board reports.
    • Track instances of non-compliance and liaise with responsible person(s) to ensure agreed action plans are implemented.
    • Where necessary, interacting with regulators, industry bodies and internal/ external stakeholders.
    • Review the training register to check whether comprehensive training programs have been implemented, and whether all the relevant personnel have been trained.
    • Active participation in consultative and lobbying structures regarding legislative and regulatory developments.
    • Responsible for the completion and/or maintenance of Regulatory Universe.
    • Cultivates constructive relationships which results in the Business proactively seeking Compliance involvement.
    • Developing and training Junior Compliance Officers.

    Education and experience

    • Legal and/or Commercial Degree,
    • A minimum of 3-4 years Financial Services experience, specifically Investment Management.
    • Relevant experience within the financial services industry, specifically relating to the operations of Category I, II and III FSPs, a CIS Manager, Long-Term Insurer and Pension Funds.
    • Proficiency in the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, Collective Investment Schemes Control Act, relevant insurance legislation and relevant anti-money laundering legislation, and working knowledge of the Pension Funds Act and relevant data protection legislation.
    • Passed the applicable FSCA Regulatory Exams advantageous. 
    • FAIS approved Compliance Officer with the FSCA advantageous.
    • Compliance Professional registered with the Compliance Institute of South Africa will be advantageous.

    Risk Analyst | Risk (8227)

    Job Responsibilities

    • Facilitate the risk processes (risk assessment, identification, management, reporting & optimization) across the business including IT risk analysis, to identify and assess the risk to IT and applications.
    • Engage with the business in identifying practical solutions to mitigate key risks and address control and process weaknesses identified.
    • Remain close to business, engaging regularly and deeply understanding the risks and issues facing the business and the state of the control environment.
    • Make pragmatic recommendations for control improvements on the systems and procedures being reviewed and reporting on these findings, open exposures, and recommendations after discussing with management.
    • Investigate risk incidents which include root cause analysis, rectification assessment, propose and test the design adequacy of control improvements. 
    • Perform risk assessments as part of various business projects and initiatives.
    • Provides expert advice and consultancy with respect to risk management practices and concerns.
    • Assist in the education of staff/promoting risk awareness throughout the Group.
    • Researches and stays abreast of worldwide best practice and regulations.
    • Work closely with the Internal Audit and Compliance Functions to provide a combined assurance assessment of the risk management within the firm.

    Accountant | Group Finance | Institutional - SA (8261)

    Responsibilities

    • The accounting function for AG Life comprises 
    • Preparation and recording of payments.
    • Cash book entries recording receipt of fee income.
    • Monthly journal entries. 
    • Institutional policyholder accounting High level review and consolidation of policyholder transactions maintained by Retail Finance.

    Reporting is required as follows

    • Management information (for company and used for group consolidated reporting).
    • Monthly preparation of AFS, management accounts.
    • Monthly analysis of fee income. 
    • Monthly capital adequacy monitoring for reporting to MD.
    • Regulatory reporting
    • Monthly Liquidity return reporting to the Prudential Authority.
    • Quarterly reporting to SARB.
    • Quarterly and Annual SAM return reporting to the Prudential Authority. 
    • Quarterly reporting to ASISA and Stats-SA.
    • Tax reporting
    • DWT, VAT, income tax (IT14L in terms of the 5 funds approach required by S29A).
    • Executives
    • Preparation of financial reports for the bi-annual directors meeting.

    Other:

    • Accounting for Offshore Endowment and Guernsey branch.
    • Liaison with Retail Finance on the Life products that form part of AG Life.
    • Liaison with external auditors during annual audit, ensuring audit is completed within tight deadlines.
    • The candidate should expect other responsibilities to assist both the Institutional team and the overall Group Finance team, as may be required. 

    Qualification and Experience

    • CA(SA)
    • Financial services experience preferred, preferably 2-3 years post qualification.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
    • Ability to pay attention to detail, work accurately and to quickly detect errors.
    • Aptitude for numbers and routine work.
    • Capable of working unassisted and seeing tasks through to successful completion within tight deadlines.
    • An inherent inclination to closely follow rules and procedures.
    • Fit easily into a young, energetic, hardworking, demanding and team orientated environment.
    • Good communication.
