    SSHE Coordinator

    THE JOB AT A GLANCE:

    Bakeries National SSHER Coordinator has overall responsibility for assisting the entire group security, safety, and environment managers in improving site performance in all these areas health and safety related initiatives in the business. The role is responsible for ensuring implementation the international safety and environmental management systems and ensure the site adherence to all SHE related legislation. The role is also responsible to ensure accurate and on-time reporting of all site info in security, safety, health, and environment by collaborating with all site level Risk coordinators / Risk control officers. This role will provide functional leadership and support for all site level Risk coordinators / Risk control officers.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Responsible for analysing  the reporting key Sustainability KPIs (energy usage, water usage, and manufacturing waste) for the manufacturing footprint. Basis, gaps, work with site team to identify improvement projects and drive these projects for environmental impacts.
    • Responsible for the updating and maintaining of Albany Bakeries ISO 14001 system’s Policies and Procedures’ leading to a uniform standards within all sites; Design and drive implementation through Site Risk Coordinator/ Risk Control officers.
    • Collaborate and align the sustainability plans and objectives with Site Risk Coordinator/ Risk Control officers.
    • Assisting all manufacturing with legal compliance aspects ensuring that sites understand the requirements and how it must be implemented.
    • Monitor site legal compliance & provide advice on national Health and Safety legislation requirements.
    • Where requested, assist Tiger Brands sites with formal and informal investigations of accidents in the workplace.
    • Work with site teams to develop strategic and long term developmental and improvement programs (Business continuity Plan and Emergency response program etc.)
    • Monitor adherence and support the team in attaining their SSHE Pillar scores in accordance with MECP continuous improvement methodology
    • Support site teams in prioritizing and executing their health and safety and Environmental CAPEX plans
    • Manage overall performance of Safety ecosystem within Albany in terms of Costs (PPE, Capex budget, project savings), adherence to KPIs, monitoring and reporting of key issues
    • Work closely with Occupational Health personnel to identify & mitigate risks that may lead to occupational ill health. Advise line managers on all accident / incident investigations plus providing support on investigation on incidents reported to Workman’s Compensation Commissioner.
    • Collate all month-end reporting data from all sites for security, safety, health and environment reporting
    • Sense-check data for accuracy and ensure feedback on anomalies is received
    • Generate reporting slides for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting in the group SSHE team
    • Provide initial data analysis insight to the group SSHE team for any reports generated
    • Provide data analysis input to the group SSHE team
    • Assist in implementation of new reporting systems to improve efficiency of reporting
    • Collate MECP self-assessment scores from sites for central reporting purposes
    • Collate calibrated MECP scores from the group team for central reporting purposes
    • Do an initial assessment of any new suppliers or service providers in the SSHE space to bring to the SSHE team for introduction to sites or use at group level
    • Manage all group SSHE procurement processes – placing orders, registering new vendors, etc.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE:

    • Core knowledge – Safety management, Safety rules and regulations, Food Safety, Government policies on Safety

    Key foundational competencies

    • Academic  National Diploma Environmental Health.
    • Qualification in Legal aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

    Experience

    Site Quality Manager (FMCG-Isando)

    • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders

    • Lead quality loss reduction project
    • Champion quality culture building activities 
    • Participate in business unit and group community of practices 
    • Act as Custodian of quality gate keeping (TIP) process

    QUALIFICATIONS

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Function –•   Minimum of 5 years experience in Manufacturing, 2 years experience in facilitating leadership teams, Experience in managing external audits  and Familiarity with project management approaches
    • Industry – FMCG
    • Academic – Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualifications in natural science/engineering
    • TQM or Quality qualification advantageous (TPM/WCM/Lean)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Sales Management

    • Achieve bread and Tinkie sales targets for depot
    • Identify and develop new markets
    • Conduct route surveys and capture all requirements on route riding App.
    • Work with customers to ensure shelves are not under or over stocked.
    • Ensure on time in full deliveries with a quality product.
    • Coordinate in-store promotions.

    Financial management

    • Expense management
    • Conduct route Viability surveys.
    • Wage and overtime cost management
    • Manage driver balances, daily settlements and POD controls in line with company requirements.
    • Driver cash deposits are done timeously and in full as per company requirements.

    Human Resources Management

    • Performance management of drivers and VA’s.
    • Manage conflict resolution
    • Oversee the consistent application, enforcement and management of discipline at the depot
    • Ensure compliance to relevant employment legislation and company policies

    Health and Safety
