    Specialist Environmental Management

    Key Responsibilities:

    • TSAM 5-Year Environmental Action Plan: Lead the direction, approval, and implementation of our comprehensive environmental action plan, ensuring timely roll-out and success.
    • Environmental Reviews & Genchi Genbutsu: Coordinate and present at SAEC (full wording) meetings, manage environmental reviews, and conduct top management Genchi Genbutsu (Go Gemba) (activities.
    • Plant Environmental Kaizen Activity: Drive continuous environmental improvement through Kaizen initiatives, including planning, implementation, verification, and sharing of best practices.
    • Environmental Risk Reduction: Proactively manage environmental risks by inspecting high-risk areas, monitoring compliance, and implementing new standards for safety and environmental health assessments.
    • Environmental Performance: Oversee key projects aimed at reducing environmental impact, including water and waste reduction efforts.
    • Business Partner Environmental Programs & Activities: Collaborate with suppliers and logistics partners to track CO2 data, verify Kaizen activities, and support ISO 14001 certification efforts.
    • Consolidated Environmental Management: Support environmental management programs in selected plants, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Relevant NQF 7 qualifications (BSc/BTech – Chemistry / Natural Sciences / Environmental Science / Chemical/Environmental Engineering)
    • Reasons for Essential Qualification: Legal statutory compliance, Job output requirement.
    • 8 -10 Years’ experience in Environmental Engineering/Management.
    • Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) experience will be advantageous.
    • Experience in automotive manufacturing will be advantageous.
    • Understanding suppliers and logistics in manufacturing will be advantageous.
    • Water and Waste Management experience is required.
    • Sound understanding of Environmental legal requirements, developments and standards such as EPR, ISO14001, GHG reporting protocol, SBTI, CBAM.
    • Thorough understanding and hands on implementation and auditing experience on Environmental Management Systems in a corporate environment.
    • Experience in Project Management.

    • Appropriate judgment & problem solving.
    • Decision making, prioritization and allocation of resources, evaluation, and feedback.
    • Establishing frameworks and systems for effective operation and management.
    • Ability to work independently and a highly motivated individual.
