    Applications Manager

    Objectives of Role

    • Establish ITIL systems and processes to support our shared services model.
    • Design and implement policies, principles, procedures, governance, and risk management frameworks for efficient IT operations.

    Application Management and Support

    • Implement and maintain shared service application solutions, including Service Desk, HR systems, and Finance systems that facilitate the digitalisation of shared services processes and provide relevant, timely reports to our internal teams and customers.
    • Manage vendor relationships with third-party service providers.
    • Oversee the design, enablement, and delivery of core shared services applications
    • Ensure seamless integration of interfaces between different systems.
    • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders on procurement, innovation, evolution, change management, and maintenance of Information Systems architecture.
    • Provide user administration support.
    • Perform system configuration and maintenance tasks.
    • Generate relevant reports.
    • Manage software licenses.

    Information System Projects

    • Lead and contribute to strategic IS projects.
    • Govern the software development life cycle.

    Governance and Security

    • Implement data governance principles.
    • Manage security, compliance, cybersecurity, incident management, and GITC audit compliance.

    System Optimization and Training

    • Optimize application performance and ensure applications are used to their full capabilities.
    • Provide training and communication to end-users.
    • Understand hosting environments for applications.

    Customer Excellence

    • Work closely with stakeholders to set clear expectations.
    • Strive to exceed agreed-upon service standards.

    Experience and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. (Essential)
    • Proven experience in application management, preferably within a shared services environment.
    • ITIL Certification (Essential)
    • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

    Education Programme Manager

    Objectives of Role

    Programme Design and Management:

    • Lead the design, coordination, and testing of pilot programmes across various project cycles.
    • Develop and manage project plans, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful implementation and institutionalisation of programmes.
    • Conduct and synthesise research to inform programme development and execution.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders including the Department of Basic Education (DBE), provincial education departments, funders, NGOs and international partners.
    • Facilitate cross-sector collaboration to drive educational innovations and solutions.

    Partner Support:

    • Work hand in hand with partners as required to support successful programme implementation including strategy, team and delivery support.

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track programme progress and impact.
    • Collect, analyse, and consolidate data to inform programme improvements and reporting.

    Reporting and Communication:

    • Prepare and present concept notes, project plans, project and funder reports.
    • Communicate program outcomes and insights effectively to diverse audiences.

    Experience and Qualifications

    Education:

    • Honours degree or equivalent in Education, Economics, Public Policy, International Development, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in education program management, with a focus on design, implementation, and evaluation.
    • Strong understanding of the education landscape in South Africa, including key stakeholders, policies, and challenges.
    • Experience working with government officials, civil society organisations, and funders
    • Track record of being able to think and plan creatively in designing initiatives to have impact at scale and/ or drive systemic change
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively in writing and orally.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

    Grants and Project Manager

    Objectives of Role

    Grand and Project Management (Primary)

    • Lead and manage the entire grant life cycle for funds awarded to third parties, from request for proposal to grant closure, including drafting grant, consultancy and service level agreements, preparing payments, tracking milestones, analyzing grantee reporting, and developing and maintaining grantee/ service provider relationships.
    • Conduct thorough due diligence including critical analysis of proposals, budgets, work-plans, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, organizational strengths and weaknesses, risk factors, and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop, consolidate and analyse project budgets as required.
    • Monitor programmatic effectiveness and grantee’s financial management of grant funds through review of periodic reports and grantee site visits.
    • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Report and escalate issues to management as needed
    • Prepare and submit high quality donor reports on behalf of BCL
    • Develop strong, professional relationships and partnerships with key external and internal stakeholders including grantees and other funding entities
    • Contribute towards developing systems, processes, and frameworks for seamless grant management of the BCL portfolio (funds received and funds disbursed)
    • Provide input and data to contribute to the preparation of reports, organizational learning, and other communication materials.

    Event Coordination (Secondary):

    • Assist with planning, organizing, and executing events, conferences, seminars, workshops, and other company gatherings.
    • Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, audiovisual equipment setup, catering, transportation, and accommodation for attendees and speakers.
    • Develop event timelines and work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure all aspects of events run smoothly.
    • Oversee event registration and handle participant inquiries before and during events.

    Experience and Qualifications

    Qualification:

    • Honours degree or equivalent in Project Management, Business Administration, Public Policy, Education, or a related field.

    Experience:

    • At least four years of experience in philanthropic grant-making, preferably in the education and employment sectors.
    • Experience developing and managing high-value multi-stakeholder grant investments focusing on systemic change.
    • Strong project management skills with a track record of managing projects from inception to completion.
    • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytical ability with excellent attention to detail.
    • Proficient in project management and office software (MS Office).
    • Experience using grant management systems.
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.
    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
    • A passion for improving education outcomes for all South Africa’s children is a distinct advantage
