    Local Content Compliance Advisor

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Establish and Contribute to Regional Local Content Compliance Program and strategy.
    • Ensuring that the company operates within the legal requirements set forth by local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Manage regulatory reporting processes in each country. 
    • Maintaining and filing corporate records as it relates to Local Content.
    • Stay abreast of new and evolving local content laws and regulations in the African Oil & Gas industry.
    • Develop policies, processes, and work instructions to support the strategy and ensure adherence thereof.
    • Define Local Content requirements in scopes of work.
    • Carry out Local Content tender evaluations.
    • Support contract holders in post award contract management activities
    • Facilitate an efficient escalation process for urgent compliance risks, including industry-specific concerns like environmental regulations, local workforce engagement, and ethical sourcing.
    • Provide detailed, regular updates to the General Manager and leadership team, highlighting compliance risks, industry trends, and proactive initiatives for regulatory changes.
    • Work closely with and support other departments, specifically HR, Tax, and Finance, and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Relevant Bachelor’s degree (Essential)
    • Legal degree or equivalent (Desirable)
    • At least 4 years relevant experience (Essential)

    • High level of Confidence
    • Excellent Planning and Organising skills;
    • Quality Orientation;
    • A high level of Technical / Professional Knowledge;
    • Excellent Verbal / Written Communication;

    HS Classification Specialist

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintain a consistent classification regime to ensure standards meet the global Customs requirements for accuracy.   
    • Competent in reading and interpreting drawings/schematics/mill certificates and analysing the US and Global Tariff Schedules to proficiently ascertain the correct HS codes for materials as related to the Carbon Emissions Project.
    • Ensure that all necessary documentation is maintained and filed as related to any Binding Tariff Information issued by Customs authorities, so as to provide proper justifications of selected classifications.
    • Comfortable interacting with Forwarders/Brokers/Engineering/Purchasing, if required, to provide classification instructions and any requested assistance from the NOV Brokerage Teams to ensure product moves in a timely manner.
    • In coordination with NOV Compliance management, proactively participate and conduct possible self-audits of our classifications to ensure and accuracy and compliance with government regulatory programs.
    • Monitor trade legislation and regulations impacting the global Tariff Schedules and provide assistance to changes within these developments.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

    • 5 + years HS coding experience 
    • Knowledgeable about relevant regulations related to HS classification
    • Experience with import/export procedures, international freight
    • Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements and International experience are a plus
    • Excellent interpersonal skills 
    • Extremely organized and able to handle multiple tasks at the same time 
    • Work well under pressure and daily deadlines 
    • Highly motivated
    • PC skills required (including MS Office) 
    • Must be fluent in English
