    Tyre Serviceman/Operator - Lephalale

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Job Title Tyre Serviceman (Qualified)

    •  The Person The person must be able to work under supervision, appreciate their role in delivering customer service, possess common sense and initiative, demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop their tyre fitting skills and knowledge. 

    Qualifications & Experience Essential: 

    • A valid and appropriate light vehicle driver’s licence (South African Code 08). 
    • Grade 12 National Certificate Preferred: 
    • A valid and appropriate heavy vehicle drivers licence (South African Code 10). 
    • Grade 12 National certificate with maths and science. 
    • Reports to Line manager

    Duties 

    • The following is a general list of tasks that a Tyre Serviceman is required to perform. The Company may add to or vary these duties from time to time provided the variation is reasonable having regard to the Employee’s skills, competence and training. 
    • Comply with Otraco Southern Africa’s policies procedures and instructions, 
    • Comply with client policies, procedures and instructions.
    • Accurately record tyre change or other information and file or forward the information as required, 
    • Perform equipment checks and calibrations according to procedures, 
    • Fit and remove wheels from any type of vehicle according to procedures, 
    • Mount and strip any type of tyre and rim assembly according to procedures, 
    • Perform repairs to tyres and tubes according to procedures, 
    • Operate forklifts and tyre handlers according to procedures. 
    • Clean, paint and crack test rim components, 
    • Perform Inspections and determine the suitability of wheel components to remain in service, Maintain tyre operating pressures in accordance with site specifications, 
    • Maintain a high quality of service to the client, 
    • Present himself in a condition fit to perform his duties,
    • Complete any other duties allocated. Safety 
    • Work safely and follow Occupational Health and Safety Procedures, 
    • Comply with site “lock out” / “tag out” procedures, 
    • Report hazards, unsafe work conditions and equipment, 
    • Immediately report incidents and injuries to the supervisor, 
    • Comply with applicable instructions as per on-site Safety Plan,
    • Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment according to procedures, Perform vehicle Pre-start checks according to procedures. 
    • Operate and maintain tools and equipment according to procedures, 
    • Contribute to meetings and inspections in order to improve safety in the workplace, 
    • Perform Risk Assessments and take control actions to reduce the risk of Injury or damage to equipment, 
    • Perform Planned Task Observations and report deviations. Ensure corrective action

    Tyre Serviceman - Emalahleni

    Site Supervisor - Kathu

    Main responsibilities

    Tyre Maintenance     

    • All vehicles to leave yard as per SLA agreement. (If not possible customer to sign release form)
    • All wheel positions are pressure maintained.
    • Actual pressures are taken and captured on survey sheet.
    • Tread depth readings are taken over three sections of the tread area.
    • Wheel positions are correctly fitted with valve caps and where necessary valve extensions.
    • All tyre movements are captured on a Tyre Change Slip.
    • All tyres below agreed removal mm must be removed.
    • Correct matching must take place by size, tread and status.
    • All tyres with Kpa readings under 15% of the recommended pressure must be removed and checked for irregularities.
    • All tyres are correctly branded as per agreement.
    • All wheel positions are torqued at least once a month.
    • Undertake all reasonable requests and instructions, given verbally or in writing that falls within the parameters of own line of duty.

    Health & Safety

    • Responsible for Health and Safety at the Site
    • All employees are provided and dressed in clean PPE.
    • Yard and work area are neat and clean at all times.
    • Adhere to safety standards at all times.
    • All tools and equipment are kept certified and calibrated and recorded on the tool register.
    • Communicate any risk, injury, loss of life or damage to company assets to management in line with prescribed company procedures.
    • All work to be carried out in accordance to SOP

    Stock

    • Opening and closing stock are done on a daily basis.
    • Stock is taken in a Bridgestone Commercial Stock Book on a daily basis.
    • Stock must be taken by size and brand number.
    • Stock must be reported to management on a daily basis by using a stock & expense report.
    • All stock must be balanced to the Maximizer and filed on a daily basis.
    • All tyres in stock must have a brand number for identification.
    • Make use of a Tyre Deactivation Register.
    • All problem tyres must be reported to the customer and signed off.
    • Ensure that customers breakdown tyres are returned

    Customer Liaison     

    • Fill out tyre action reports for all vehicles visiting the service centre (communicate all defects to customer).
    • Identify all Maintenance Related Problems and report to the Customer.
    • Maintain a good working relationship with the Customer

          Breakdowns    

    • Organize breakdown and standby rosters
    • Ensure all breakdowns are attended to
    • Breakdowns cannot be declined
    • Breakdowns are captured in a Breakdown Log Book

    Asset Management    

    • All on site tools are captured on a tool register and signed off on a monthly basis.
    • All company owned vehicles are serviced when necessary.
    • All company owned vehicles are kept neat and clean.
    • All company owned vehicles are operated with a Log Book.

    Required capabilities

    • Customer satisfaction through optimum service delivery
    • Skilled and motivated workforce
    • Detailed knowledge of OHSA
    • Prioritising work schedules and delivery

    Education:

    • Grade 12
    • MS Word & Excel (Intermediate level)
    • Drivers License code 08

    Experience:

    • Up to 2 years supervisory experience
    • Proficiency in English
    • SAP system experience will be an advantage

    Shift Supervisor - Emalahleni

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    • The following is a general list of tasks that a Shift Supervisor is required to perform. The Company may add to or vary these duties from time to time provided the variation is reasonable having regard to the employee’s skills, competence and training.
    • Ensure that tyre fitters comply with Otraco Management System (OMS) policies, procedures and instructions
    • Lead tyre fitters to perform tyre fitting and workshop maintenance tasks in the most efficient, safe and cost effective manner
    • Perform corrective action requests from auditors
    • Check that data critical to Otracom is provided accurately and on time
    • Lead the tyre fitters in performing equipment calibration procedures according to the OMS
    • Perform inspections and determine if components should be scrapped, repaired or remain in service
    • Mount and strip any type of tyre and wheel/rim assembly according to procedures
    • Repair tyres and tubes according to procedures
    • Operate forklifts and tyre handlers according to procedures
    • Lead tyre fitters in maintaining tyre operating pressures in accordance with site specifications
    • Lead tyre fitters in maintaining a high quality of service to the client
    • Present himself in a condition fit to perform his duties,
    • Perform assessment of subordinates to analyse competence / gaps in training (i.e. Planned Task Observation)
