    Learning Technology Specialist (post level 9): Centre for Teaching and Learning (Blended Learning Innovation and Support)

    Duties and responsibilities:

        Research 

    •    Benchmark international and national with other higher education institutions in the use of various learning technologies.
    •    Scan of the learning technology service provider environment to find possible solutions to address teaching and learning needs within faculties and/or the institution.
    •    Write project proposals and evaluation reports, as well as prepare documentation for relevant committees towards the use of emerging learning technology at the UFS.

        Project Management 

    •    Overall project administration of ETLS applications and process flow.
    •    Develop project plans for the evaluation, testing and implementation of various learning technologies.
    •    Coordinate with various project role players on evaluation / implementation of various learning technology projects.
    •    Monitor project progress and adherence to project timelines.
    •    Implement various learning technology project activities as required per project plans or where need.
    •    Provide the necessary support (including training) to internal stake holders in the implementation of learning technology projects.
    •    Organise, administer, attend and participate in project meetings.

        Client Relations 

    •    Collaborate with faculties in understanding learning technology needs, as well as the design, implementation and evaluation of various learning technologies.
    •    Collaborate with various support services in the design, implementation and evaluation of various learning technologies.
    •    Collaborate with various external educational technology service providers and other higher education institutions in the evaluation of various learning technologies.

        Administration 

    •    Prepare project documentation for relevant committees and reports.
    •    Provide general administrative and logistical support for various learning technologies projects.
    •    Perform daily administrative tasks such as emails, written correspondence and telephone queries.

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    •     Relevant Bachelor’s degree or an Advanced Diploma / B.Tech degree / Postgraduate Certificate on NQF level 7.
    •     Two (2) years’ relevant working experience in the use of Learning Technologies (Learning Management System (LMS) and/or other learning technology)  
    •     Two (2) years’ relevant working experience in project management and project administration.
    •     Two (2) years’ relevant working experience in the higher education environment.

    Recommendations:

    •    Honours degree /Postgraduate Diploma/Professional Bachelor’s degree on NQF level 8.
    •     Certification in project management.

    Lecturer: Psychology

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    •     Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Psychology.
    •     Provide study guidance and supervision to final year and postgraduate students.
    •     Provide clinical supervision to students in the Applied Master’s Programme.
    •     Initiate and conduct high-level research and sustain quality research outputs.
    •     Contribute towards creating a strong academic identity for the Department.
    •     Contribute to programme development and curriculum review within the department and Faculty.
    •     Participate in community engagement initiatives where possible.
    •     Recruit senior students for postgraduate study.
    •     Perform organisational and administrative duties.

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    •     A PhD in Psychology on NQF level 10 (for a permanent appointment)

    or

    •     Master’s degree in Psychology on NQF level 9 (contract appointment: 5 years during which a PhD in Psychology on NQF level 10 MUST be obtained to be converted into a permanent position). 
    •     Three (3) years registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist.
    •     Proven experience in the research supervision of postgraduate students
    •     Proven experience in the delivery of presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
    •     Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
    •     Expertise within child, adolescent and adult assessments and psychotherapeutic interventions.

    Recommendations:

    •     Lecturing experience in Psychology at a tertiary institution.
    •     A good scholarly record.
    •     The ability to work with and learn more about digitalized academic platforms.
    •     Experience in statistical packages (SPSS/MPLus).

    Associate Professor: Department of Psychology

    •     Proven experience in the presentation of research papers/posters at national scholarly conferences, where there is evidence of peer review of papers.
    •     Act as an editorial board member of high-quality national scholarly journals.
    •     Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research leadership in a specific scientific area of scholarship.
    •     Serve as a member of a national scholarly society OR a national committee or agency concerned with research at higher education levels, OR show evidence of service as an active member of an international equivalent.

    Customer Care Specialist (post level 13) (Contract appointment: 2 years)(2 positions)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide excellent customer care to all stakeholders.
    • Review customer complaints and take appropriate action.
    • Serve as a Liaison between management and customer support team.
    • Ensure effective relationship building between schools, principals and University.

    Sales Consultant (post level 13) (Contract appointment: 1 year)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Perform various front-desk duties in the merchandise shop: answer phones and address customer queries in a professional manner.
    • Process customer payments using the POS (point of sales) system on the Pastel Point of Sale program.
    • Unpack and count new stock delivered by suppliers.
    • Label merchandise and display items on shop shelves.
    • Assist clients to find specific merchandise in the shop.
