    Client Service Risk Manager, EEMA

    WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

    You will be part of the firm’s Client Service Risk (CSR) function whose mission is to enable client impact and innovation in a way which manages risks to our clients, people, and the firm. CSR is a globally integrated team with colleagues from diverse professional backgrounds including communications, consulting, government, and law.

    This role reports to the Director of Client Service Risk in EEMA and will be based in EEMA. 

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    As part of the CSR team, you will deliver expert risk advice and guidance that enables McKinsey’s most cutting-edge work while building and shaping a world-class risk management program.  

    You will provide high-quality, efficient, and streamlined support to senior colleagues and, on higher risk engagements, key decision-making bodies within the firm’s risk governance. Furthermore, you will lead risk advisory for specific groups of consultants, a sector or sub-region in EEMA, and develop expertise in specific content areas.

    You will have a focus on providing strategic, integrative advice to manage the multi-faceted and complex risks that arise by virtue of serving public sector, state-linked, healthcare and social, sector clients across EEMA. In order to do so effectively, you will partner closely with and integrate advice from across firm functions (including Communications, Finance, and Legal) and ‘cells’ (practices, offices, new delivery models) to provide counsel on multi-faceted issues.

    You will have the opportunity to build a reputation as a trusted advisor with senior colleagues across the firm.

    You will support the Director of Client Service Risk and Associate Directors of Client Service Risk on implementing regional strategies within EEMA and may make substantive contributions at the global level via, for example, policy reviews or operational changes.

    You will be expected to radiate knowledge to others, and actively provide and receive feedback, helping to foster an inclusive environment focused on performance and health.

    Lastly, you will contribute to awareness efforts around risk policies and compliance processes to drive engagement across the firm within EEMA. 

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • University degree with a demonstrated intellectual curiosity through professional training, advanced degree, or professional impact
    • 7+ years of consulting, law, risk, compliance, communications, or other professional services experience
    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English language with ability to tailor messaging based on audience
    • Excellent judgment and exceptional integrity, as well as distinctive interpersonal and collaborative skills
    • Entrepreneurial and collaborative attitude, with interest and aptitude for working as part of a diverse global team

    Compliance Coordinator, Shape

    As Compliance Coordinator, you will be based in McKinsey’s Johannesburg office as a member of our growing community of Risk and Compliance colleagues, reporting to the SHaPE Compliance Manager with guidance from firm Risk.

    You will work closely with stakeholders in the firm’s Risk, Compliance, Legal, Communications and Finance functions, and whose mission is to enable McKinsey’s client impact and innovation, while managing risks to the firm, our clients, and our people. Finally, you will interact and work with client-serving Partners and wider colleagues across the firm’s public, social & state-owned sector client work.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    In this role, you will support the implementation of workstreams related to practice's overall efforts in compliance, through a combination of tracking, measuring and reporting activities, process management, and building awareness/serving as key point of contact on compliance issues.  

    Additionally, with oversight from program leads you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and range of stakeholders to proactively identify, pursue, and implement continuous service improvements, leveraging both technology and process optimization strategies.

    You will play an important role in evolving and ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the firm’s compliance processes in a globally consistent way.

    In maintaining an overview of compliance processes within the practice, your work will often involve the development and delivery of contextualized reports, presentations, and communications to practice and firm leadership, practice colleagues and firm functions. 

    Over time, you will be expected to inform decision making through an increasingly nuanced understanding of economic, geographic, and political issues that impact on the practice’s engagements across Europe, and to serve as a valued source of advice on relevant approaches and levels of compliance for specific locations and clients.  

    All in all, you will be central to developing, evolving, and implementing the firm’s approach to assurance and compliance.

    As a Compliance Coordinator, you will manage the reconciliation, reporting, escalation, and corrective action for SHaPE engagements, such as: 

    reconciling processes within the Compliance, Practice, Legal, Finance, People Development, and firm systems; coordinating with practice colleagues to ensure proactive follow-up and/or corrective action for incomplete processes, including contracting, risk review, mandatory trainings and certification; regularly maintain and update a Practice Compliance Tracker, tracking different data metrics, relating to multiple policy and process requirements, cross-functions, and cross-systems.

    Moreover, you will prepare KPIs and insights for a monthly Compliance Dashboard reporting and presentation to practice and firm leadership.

    You will support the management of overall compliance with firm policies, including tracking, reporting, escalating, and serving as a key supporter and contributor to refine compliance or ethics policies, procedures, supplemental guidance, and related documents.

    You will support the SHaPE EEMA practice with completing framework specific reporting requirements and self-audits.

    You will support the development and coordination of training and awareness sessions around compliance or ethics policies. You will also provide supplemental guidance on related and ongoing compliance initiatives.

    You will support and address ad-hoc compliance queries and requests from firm leadership, practice colleagues, and firm functions.

    Additionally, you will coordinate and syndicate compliance processes and reporting with SHaPE Compliance colleagues worldwide, ensuring a universal and consistent firm-wide approach to compliance in the SHaPE practice.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Academic credentials that include an undergraduate degree and demonstrable intellectual curiosity through professional training or impact
    • 3+ years’ professional experience, whether in consulting or professional services, ideally with experience in compliance, contract management, assurance, risk, or legal within the social, healthcare, and/or public sectors
    • Experience in or aptitude for using risk-related data sets and technology solutions for data management, analysis, and reporting; preferably good knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word); experience using the Salesforce Client Management System and Tableau/Power BI would be advantageous
    • Strong English oral communication and listening skills, together with the ability to write clear, carefully worded, concise documents and reports Proficiency in Arabic would be advantageous
    • Strong personal presence and credibility; ability to work across all levels of seniority, cultivating trust-based, peer-counselor relationships; positive, diplomatic, with sound judgment, and good instincts; particularly helpful if experience is across multiple geographies
