    Charge Hand

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Maintenance

    • Operate a computerized maintenance system as well as report frequently on maintenance breakdowns, preventative maintenance adherence and condition of assets
    • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good working order according to supplier’s maintenance requirements 

    Planning

    • Plan, request and control spares needed for work
    • Prioritize and schedule daily work and manage time to ensure that maximum productivity is met
    • Complete job cards to ensure that the job card reports, job details of the work done and time taken to complete the job are recorded
    • Co-ordinate with the Planner all maintenance activities on site, routine work, and breakdown work and emergency work to minimize downtime and delays

    Operations

    • Anticipate labour requirements and arrange accordingly
    • Work in all weather and in dusty wet conditions, indoors,   walking, climbing, holding, bending and lifting

    Administration

    • Ensure that all documentation is completed and filed timeously

    Communication

    • Hold daily maintenance tool box talks and safety meetings with the Maintenance personnel and set out daily priorities

    Leading 

    • Supervise Artisans, Contractors and Learners within the company guidelines

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATION 

    • Grade 12
    • Trade Test Fitter 

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum of 3 years in the Fitting Trade
    • Supervisory experience.
    • Good understanding of plant and maintenance operations

    Lab Technician

    Description

    Give guidance on aspect of material specification testing methods, handling, utilization, procurement and production of construction material

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Operations

    • Attending site meetings or contract meetings related to raw material testing methods
    • Assisting the Quality Control Manager with QC testing and product development
    • Co-ordinating quality specification testing requirements on the field (site) to ensure compliancy to the product

    Safety

    • Ensuring safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times
    • Ensuring Laboratory methods statements base mini risk assessment and base mini risk assessment in place and used accordingly

    Maintenance

    •  Attending to laboratory housekeeping
    •  Maintaining laboratory equipment 

    Reporting

    • Recording data and results with accuracy and responsibility
    • Filing and submitting Recorded data to client representative, site management & line management

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATION

    • Grade 12
    • National Diploma in civil engineering or Equivalent qualifications will be advantageous

    REQUIREMENTS

    •  3-5 years working experience in laboratory and /or Construction environment

    • Soil Testing using various methods as per TMH and SANS standards

    Site Engineer

    Description

    The Site Engineer Planning drafts the overall project programme and plan for a specific project in conjunction with the planner, in line with tender and contract requirements, and ensures appropriate systems are put in place to monitor and report on progress against plan. They provide administrative support in setting up, managing and maintaining the management operating system

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Business / Functional Management

    • Execute project responsibilities in line with organisational strategy, in order to achieve set goals
    • Report to Project Manager and Planner on project programme and plan execution and trends

    Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management

    • Give inputs to draft programme for tender requirements on ad hoc basis
    • Give inputs to translating the tender and contracts requirements into a workable project programme and plan for the project, considering scope, timing, costs, resources and legislative requirements, in conjunction with the Planner

    Risk Management & Compliance, incl. ESG responsibility

    • Identify and highlight operational and project risks through effective reporting and data analysis, with recommendations for remedial actions

    Stakeholder Management (internal / external)

    • Maintain working relationship with project management team across all levels, to ensure accurate and effective data is provided timeously

    Operations & Project Management

    • Monitor and analyse project effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative tools

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATION

    • Degree/B tech in  Civil Engineering
    • Training and competency on relevant systems and software Analytical qualification or training preferred

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 2-3 years experience in working as a Technician across various areas of construction projects
    • At least 1-2 years experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a construction environment, at Section Engineer level

    • Expert knowledge and skills in construction management
    • Strong persuasion skills

    Superintendent

    Description

    The superintendent manages the implementation and delivery of a small / lower complexity project or section of a large project against safety, time, quality and cost standards and has a definite emphasis on the practical, technical and commercial management of a project. Fulfills the link between the project manager and operational team. The superintendent is responsible for all on-site activities, including organising work and making sure all key materials are delivered on time

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Business / Functional Management

    • Execute project responsibilities in line with organisational strategy, in order to achieve set goals
    • Report to Project Manager on operational and project performance

    Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management

    • Provide inputs to estimating department on tender response structuring, site visits. May be involved with finalisationon an ad hoc basis 

    Risk Management & Compliance, incl. ESG responsibility

    • Be fully aware of the content and impact of new contracts i.e. general conditions of contract, special conditions, specifications, drawings; be aware of relevant legislation relating to the contract - as related to site operational execution and governance

    Stakeholder Management (internal / external)

    • Maintain working relationship with head office structures with regards to support and professional services (HR, Safety, Quality, Plant, Survey, Commercial, Finance, IT, QS), in support of site delivery

    Operations & Project Management

    • Responsible for project execution on a specific site - within budget, scope, timelines, productivity and SHEQ standards

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATION

    • Degree in Civil Engineering
    • Project Management qualification would be advantageous
    • Management qualification will be advantageous
    • Concrete, Drains and Earthworks Technical Courses

    REQUIREMENTS

    • At least 3 years relevant experience in respect of managing sections of a construction project as section engineer / site engineer
    • Must have practical and hands-on experience in the management of foremen, labour and plant resources
    • Experience in planning and setting up construction projects, preferably at section engineer
    • Managerial: At least 2 years experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a construction environment, at chargehand / supervisory level

    Senior Superintendent

    PURPOSE

    Senior Superintendent role exists to execute multiple large- and small-scale projects against  established project management standards which include time, cost & scope. The role  oversees safety, risks, technical and commercial management of projects and ensures  successful and profitable execution. Overall system, process, people management &  development responsibility. The role interacts vertically with operations teams, clients and  senior operations and accounts management and horizontally with broad business operations  in the division. The role assists to plan for successful execution on all projects within its scope  of responsibility and influence

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Business/Functional Management

    • Execute project responsibilities in line with organisational strategy, in order to achieve set  goals. Execute efficient production processes & ensure profitable project outcomes.
    • Lead various teams of leaders to deliver business objectives

    Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management

    • Manage contract commercial terms including terminations, dispute resolution, force  majeure, and escalations.
    • Manage costs and production within project budget, cost and time targets, providing inputs to Cost and Site Accountant on cash flow charts and systems, monitoring  compliance in their area.

    Risk Management & Compliance, incl. ESG responsibility

    • Ensure the company's policy on social responsibility is adhered to. Be fully aware of the  content and impact of new contracts i.e. General Conditions of Contract, Special  Conditions, Specifications, and Drawings; be aware of relevant legislation relating to the  contract - as related to project operational execution and governance.

    Stakeholder Management (Internal/External)

    • Promote ongoing open communication with Client Resident Engineer, Mining Manager  and other client managers to foster good relations between FAT and the Client, through  appropriate forums and interfaces.
    • Manage interface with other client contractors and operations on site.

    Operations & Project Management

    • Undertake the implementation of company procedures and projects objectives on a  specific project(s) in their area of responsibility. Responsible for project execution and risk  management on one or multiple sites - within budget, scope, timelines, productivity and  SHEQ standards.

    SHEQ Management

    • Oversee the implementation of the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality plans and compliance, Role responsible for executing Zero Harm mandate.

    Culture & Climate

    • Build a culture of continuous improvement for the duration of the project. 
    • Align with client  culture requirements as agreed with Project Management team, to enhance the client  relationship. Drive division’s employee value proposition and decent work principles.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • BSc Degree / B Tech / qualification (mining / metallurgy / industrial / civil or similar)
    • Project Management & a general management qualification would be advantageous

    EXPERIENCE

    • At least five years relevant experience in respect of managing Tailings and/or Remining  sites
    • Proven production management exposure as Mine Overseer / Snr Superintendent
    • General Mining Production experience would be an advantage
    • Proven practical and hands-on experience in the management of leaders, labour and  plant resources.
    • Experience in planning and commissioning projects, preferably on Tailings operation or
    • Re-mining. At least 5 years’ experience in a management role, preferably in a Tailings /  mining environment.

    SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Solid knowledge of Mining, Production and Tailings Industries with specific emphasis on  Tailings business.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the national legislation, standards and bylaws applicable to the Tailings business. 
    • Excellent knowledge and understanding of technical and  operational aspects core to the tailings and mining industry. 
    • Excellent Commercial  astuteness
