    Senior Controller

    Job Purpose
    Bidvest International Logistics is recruiting x2 Senior Controllers within the International Logistics Product.

    The incumbent will control procedures to process the flow of cargo from the time that the order is placed on an overseas supplier until the goods are delivered.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Matric
    •  Relevant tertiary qualification essential
    •  5 - 7 years industry related experience - 5 - 10 years marine experience
    •  Sound knowledge of Imports and Exports (Airfreight and Sea Freight) (Cross-functional)
    •  Knowledge of NPA Tartiff rates (related charges) and Customs requirements; spefically RIT/WH/WE/EAS/XES

    Key Responsibilities

    • Forwarding of import cargo in accordance with Client requirements
    •  Track Client consignments from time of receipt or shipping instruction to arrival at destination in accordance with Incoterm
    •  Forwarding and clearing of import cargo in accordance with Client requirements
    •  Co-ordinate movement of cargo with the transport operators
    •  Report on shipment status to Clients and other stakeholders
    •  Process and distribute documentation in accordance with Client requirements
    •  Obtain master/house transport document information from carriers/consolidators
    •  Expediate cargo with carriers, terminals, depots and other transport operators
    •  Keep system updated with all communication and applicable documentation received
    •  Forward invoice to Invoicing Quality Controller to confirm correct rates
    •  Hand file over to Invoicing Clerk to generate pro-forma invoice

    Skills & Competencies

    • Developed computer literacy skills (MS Office)
    •  Knowledge of Power BI
    •  Inter-personal skills coupled with expert written and verbal communication
    •  Systematic, logic and analytical approach
    •  CargoWise1 (CW) expert
    •  Proven working knowledge of International Forwarding
    •  Understanding of estimates
    •  Developed Geographic knowledge
    •  Knowledge of Customs requirements
    •  Financial knowledge regarding file profitability and losses

    Imports Supervisor (Sea freight)

    Job Purpose

    Bidvest International Logistics is looking to recruit an Import Supervisor within the Sea freight Imports division, to be based at our Facility in Bonaero Park (Kempton Park) The successful candidate will coordinate and supervise all import activities within safe, smooth and efficient procedures and to further ensure that paperwork and monetary transactions are completed accurately, in a timely manner, and according to trade laws. The successful candidate should have the skills to guide a team, to ensure client satisfaction and timeous delivery of client cargo.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • Relevant tertiary qualification will be viewed highly favorable
    • At least 5 years experience within the discipline of Import/Export/Seafreight/Airfreight
    • Experience at a supervisory level / managing a team is essential
    • Excellent computer literacy (Outlook and Excel)
    • Dealing with reefer shipments, inspections and delivery would be viewed favorably

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maximise customer satisfaction through multiple disciplines, ie, Forwarding, invoicing, queries, customs etc.    
    • Manage staff performance reports, as well as client's status reports                                
    • Supervising collection of clearnance documents, as well as employees responsible for this function                  
    • Ensuring that further Import related instructions from the BUM are attended to                             
    • Attending Client visits with the BBU Manager / BBU  KAM / Attend Team meetings with clients                          
    • Holding daily meeting with staff to establish if the departments objectives and clients objectives are being met  
    • Manage the Operational Dashboard and reports to ensure the departments KPI's are fuly met                              
    • On the floor management to ensure that staff are on top of their work, problems indentified are resolved and dealt with
    • The abilty to grow and develop staff within the department                                
    • To indentify problems and issues before they develop or expose themselves                                
    • To manage complex shipments with the controllers and when called upon, work after hours and on weekends                                

    Skills & Competencies
    Knowledge:

    • Excellent geographical knowledge
    • Sound working knowledge of Seafreight & Airfreight Imports processes
    • Must be numerate
    • Working experience using CargoWise knowledge would be highly advantageous and candidates with CargoWise knowledge will be prioritised
    • Excellent knowledge of the workings of the various Ports nationally
    • Sound working knowledge of State Vet related documents and the inspection and delivery of these shipments

    Skills:

    • Ability to Manage a team from an Operational perspective as well as development, coaching and mentoring
    • Self starter with a high sense of urgency and responsibility
    • Attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Problem solving skills
    • Have the ability to deal with people of all levels

    Entries Clerk

    Job Purpose

    Bidvest International Logistics is recruiting an Entries Clerk within the International Logistics Product.

    The incumbent will tariff various commodities correctly, frame all types of Bill of Entries, including Ex Bonds in adherence with all relevant legislation, internal  and external policies and procedures.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Matric / Grade 12 essential
    • Completion of Customs Affairs courses or equivalent
    • Forwarding Course or equivalent would be an advantage
    • Computer literacy, i.e: Microsoft office suite and operating systems that generate Customs Bills of Entry
    • 5 years experience in entry framing with experience in framing entries for General Cargo and Automotive Clients

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare draft Bill of Entry on Cargowise 1 for declaration to Customs
    • Receive clearing files/instructions from Business Units/Client 
    • Ensure completeness of file documentation
    • Verify accuracy on clearing documentation
    • Submit for internal quality control to ensure correctness before submission of declaration to Customs
    • Process Voucher for Correction (VOC) if required
    • Batch import files in preparation for EDI upload
    • Monitor release
    • Print release Bill of Entry and submit to Business Unit 
    • Provide regular feedback on quality assurance 

    Skills & Competencies
    Knowledge

    • A working knowledge of Cargowise
    • Have a working knowledge of the "Manual  for the Completion and Presentation of Declaration" would be an advantage
    • Have knowledge of documents required to effect a Clearance to customs

    Skills

    • The ability to tariff classify goods in terms of the GRI 
    • Have an enquiring mind, and inclination to learn new functions
    • The ability to work extended hours as and when required

    Senior Entries Clerk

    Job Purpose

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare draft Bill of Entry on Compu-Clearing (CCL) and Cargowise
    •  Receive clearing files/instructions from Business Units/Client
    •  Verify accuracy on clearing documentation
    •  Batch import files in preparation for EDI upload
    •  Facilitate release of Customs Stop/Detain including other third party release
    •  Liaise with relevant parties to obtain final release

    Skills & Competencies

    • A working knowledge of Compu-Clearing (CCL) and Cargowise
    •  Have a working knowledge of the "Manual for the Completion and Presentation of Declaration" would be an advantage
    •  Insight of documents required to effect a Clearance to customs Skills
    •  Ability to tariff classify goods in terms of the GRI rules of classification
    •  Type, quickly and accurately in an organized fashion
    •  Communicate at all levels - Have an enquiring mind and inclination to learn new functions
    •  Able to work under pressure
