    Process Manufacturing Engineer

    THE PURPOSE OF THE PROCESS MANUFACTURING ENGINEER ROLE IS TO:

    • Defines the manufacturing process and associated equipment for a new product, taking into account the industrial policy, existing standards and constraints of the project.  Perform industrial documentation for the project.  Estimate the manufacturing workload for the part corresponding to his domain.

    THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE:

    • During specification and preliminary design phases:
    • Gather Industrial requirements Engineering has to comply with, during product specification and design. Explain them to Engineering.
    • Participate actively to the product design in co-engineering mode, using appropriate methodologies.
    • Design the macro-process, based on standard SMP (Standard Manufacturing Process).
    • Prepare introduction of new technologies if need be, with associated process validation plan.
    • Identify needs of specific manufacturing equipment.
    • Estimate Method Time and perform a preliminary line balancing.
    • Identify critical process steps where to perform detailed Process FMEA and full FAR (Final Assembly Inspection) / FAI (First Article Review).
    • During detailed design phase and before Serial Go:

    Complete industrial documentation: industrial data sheets, IMFU (Industrial Maturity Follow-Up)

    • Participate to validation of prototypes if any.
    • Develop specifications of industrial means for serial production.
    • Define workstation layouts, taking into account ergonomic and EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) rules and optimizing movements.
    • Perform a complete and detailed line balancing.
    • Validate product design and industrialization through FAR and FAI.

    After serial Go:

    • Industrialize retrofit after engineering changes: documentation, workstation definition / update.
    • Support Production to achieve manufacturing QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) targets.

    Other activities:

    • Coordinate all Supply Chain activities to secure the end of production (Missing Parts) while minimizing costs and obsolete inventories

    THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:  

    • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Degree 
    • Industrial or technical background with 2 to 5 years’ experiences in an manufacturing environment
    • Railway industry knowledge will be an advantage
    • Working experience in an international organization will be an advantage
    • Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings
    • Technical experience of Methods Engineering, writing, and improving manufacturing work instructions, line balancing and control plans
    • Experience in working with an ERP (such as SAP) for Bill of Materials, Routings, Configuration follow-up
    • Working knowledge of Quality and Health & Safety standards and systems
    • Sound MS Office skills
    • Fluent in English Verbal and Written

    Logistics Operator - Motors

    Job Purpose

    • The successful candidates will responsible for the execution of material handling and processing activities. This includes, related documentation and safe storage, receiving and delivery of goods to the appropriate storage location/plant and general housekeeping of all logistics operational areas.

    Artisan Welder 1 1 1

    THE PURPOSE OF THE ARTISAN WELDER ROLE IS TO:

    • Fabricate and repair steel components, sub-assemblies and carbody shells as per specified work procedure, work instruction and Engineering drawings to meet the defined production schedules and quality levels. Require to use various welding techniques.

    THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE:

    • Ensure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies and procedures
    • To conduct quality self-inspection of own work before shipping to next station.
    • Maintain 5S condition of the working zone / Housekeeping.
    • Welding locomotive components as per welding procedure
    • Operating hand and power tools
    • Preparing and setting-up of necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs.
    • Identify welding defects and repair
    • Gouging
    • Exercise skills and knowledge of welding trade qualification
    • Correctly instruct, and transfer skills to any apprentice and semi-skilled worked assigned to you to ensure safety and quality of work

    Fitter and Turner (Motors)

    Job Purpose

    • The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly and machining of all parts in accordance with the technical documentation (work instructions, drawings, task sequencing) and self-checking at the various stages of assembly.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Using CNC Lathe to machine the rotor bars.
    • Lamination stacking and hot product shrinking.
    • Preparation (alignment / cleaning) and quenching.
    • Machine brazing.
    • Machine Balancing after rotor assembly.
    • Repairing non-conformities (geometry, visual aspect in relation with the criteria) by following the prescribed repair specification.
    • Perform self-assessment quality checks.
    • Adhering to continuous improvement processes and teamwork.
    • Adhere to and promote strict compliance with EHS rules, PPE, local regulation and AZDP.
    • Ensure that the workstation is tidy with regular monitoring and cleaning of the equipment (5S).

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 and or minimum N3 Certificate.
    • Qualified Red Seal - Trade Tested Fitter and Turner is a must with 3 years’ experience in the relevant field.
    • Proven experience working as a Turner (CNC lathe machining would be an advantage).
    • Knowledge of fitting techniques, tools, principles and equipment selection.
    • Conduct assembly operations according to detailed work instructions
    • Ability to use the crane for assembly operations and move the product with pallet trucks.
    • Ability to operate hand power tools, slings, drilling machines, grinders and other hand tools related to the job requirement.

    Methods Engineer LCC

    Job Purpose

    • Industrialise the maintenance & repairability of products for depots & repair centres, taking into account existing standards & project constraints.
    • Supervise Life Cycle Cost for preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and repairs activities.
    • Lead industrialization of Providor, Make or Buy, Service Exchange, business cases, Obsolescence, ERP and database (ILS-PDM) in line with engineering breakdown structure and production activity to ensure life cycle cost improvements year by year.
    • Obtain (FROM OEM) and update the industrial documentation necessary for all production & maintenance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Implement the project Make or Buy strategy in all deliverables WITH OEM AND LCC TOOL
    • Create all tasks in LCC TOOL in line with Make or Buy strategy
    • Collect LCC from suppliers in line with L4 repair and overhaul activity
    • Manage LCC IT tool in line with repair activity
    • Receive latest Providor and prepare the necessary deliverables
    • Compile Part Breakdown Structure.
    • Contribute to business Make or Buy profitable strategies by developing sound business cases
    • Calculate Service Exchange and share with key stakeholders
    • Calculate budget inputs for preventative and corrective maintenance volumes.
    • Generate regular meaningful report on LCC calculation
    • Contribute to obsolescence decision makings
    • Liaise WITH OEM on the industrialisation of technical documentation, respecting the standard manufacturing process & standard manufacturing line guidelines (orientate & validate the conception while taking into account the industrial constraints of the manufacturing and maintenance sites, in Concurrent Engineering with the design teams

    • Propose new or improved ways of working that will enable the industrial teams to improve their efficiency of the safety of work to perform

    Minimum Requirements

    • Degree/BSc/BTech in industrial engineering.

    • Industrial background with  5 years’ experience preferably in the railway industry or
    • Technical background with 5 years’ experience preferably in the railway industry (Repairs environment), ideally in an international organization

    Maintenance Technician TSSSA Cape Town

    Job Purpose

    • It is to provide technical support to the customer during commercial service, during preventive and corrective maintenance before and after warranty.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support/Interface with Engineering Department for the analysis of all data coming from the field for the purposes of resolution of technical problem on the on trains.
    • Report on all the anomalies found in commercial service.
    • Interface with the customer and the technical fleet management to deal with all emergencies possible arising during the commercial service.
    • Support the customer in corrective and preventive maintenance by:
    • Coaching and training the customer on executing maintenance tasks, following procedures delivered by Gibela Engineering team upon request.
    • Respond to all requests addressed by the customer – by call or directly at technical support desk.
    • Train preparation, all levels of diagnostic on trains/CFM or use of on-board computerized equipment/working manuals, troubleshooting guide and train system knowledge.
    • Troubleshoot and repair the GIBELA Rolling Stock, in line with specified Quality procedures. This will require manual work and sometimes working on powered up trains in a safe and controlled manner.
    • Carry out such work in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as laid down by legislation and the Company Health & Safety policies.
    • Carry out train preparation, all levels of diagnostic and work arising involving the use of onboard computerized equipment/working manuals, troubleshooting guides and train system knowledge.
    • Undertake other duties as specified by the Team Leader and Depot Manager.
    • Adhere to Company procedures especially in relation to Quality and Health & Safety.
    • Train new members of the team.
    • Support the Reliability team and the Field Engineer to understand the root cause of complex failures.

    Minimum Requirements

    • National Diploma (S4) qualification in either Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
    • Industrial or Technical background with 2 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a rail related environment.
    • MS Office literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    Junior Project Controller

    Job Purpose

    This is a mega project, subdivided into Work packages (Departments), each with its own unique Scope. The purpose is to:

    • Ensure accuracy of actual costs recorded and guarantee the analysis of the Estimate To Complete of a given Work Package’s (Departmental) scope.
    • To ensure that Work Package Quality/Cost/Delay commitment is properly backed-up/documented and monitored on a monthly basis.
    • Supports the Work Package Owner (Department Head) in the controlling/financial management of his/ her Work Package and help in identifying risks in advance.

    Key Responsibilities

    You will be required:

    • Calculate the Work Package (department) costs since inception.
    • Prepare and review Work Package Report: Actuals & cost at completion, ensure individual risks are properly assessed and mitigation plans in place.
    • Forecast Work Package (Department) costs to complete.
    • Prepare variance analysis of high quality.
    • Ensure Reporting is accurate and on time.
    • Support the Work Package Owner in the monthly and bi-annual Work Package Reviews with the project/Platform.
    • Build Constructive relationship with Work Package owners (departmental heads).
    • Review and analyse Work Package working capital (inventories in particular).
    • Provide all Work Package finance reporting (Work Package Reporting in particular).
    • Be the interface with the Project Controller for all Work Package financial issues.
    • Respect GIBELA rules & processes.
    • Ensure accuracy and quality of Costs data.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting degree, or
    • Project Control Certification, or
    • CIMA (in progress or completed; advantageous).
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar industry (construction/project based).
