    Route Compliance Clerk - Durban

    Job Description

    RCL Foods is recruiting for a driven, highly energized, analytical Route Compliance Clerk within the baking business unit. The suitable candidate will be required to manage GPSTS vehicle units, Garmins, and GPST logins daily and ensure route viability loaves per km, cpk’s, and cpl. This role will be based in Durban and reporting to the Transport Manager.

    Minimum Requirements

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Administration:

    • Administer and monitor the uploaded system route allocations on a daily basis.
    • Liaise with drivers and customers throughout the day and note all comments and problems on a daily report that is sent to management after shift end.
    • Monitor real-time fuel consumption, speeding, braking, and other driving and vehicle performance exceptions.
    • Track down the driver and send the vehicle back to the depot when necessary.
    • Follow up with stationary drivers at the back door for more than 15 minutes.
    • Manage GPSTS vehicle units, Garmins, and GPST logins daily.
    • Report on actual kilometers vs GPS kilometers vs daily averages of the previous month.
    • Report on any km route deviations on daily info transport and sales files.
    • Monitor and report on transport logistics issues including speeding, harsh braking, route deviations, and route plotting, pre-trip inspections.
    • Perform route analysis and optimization; split routes monthly to reduce km where possible.

    Crate Controlling:

    • Investigate all crate transactions and report variances to Manager.
    • Compare crate pool to JDE PI and crate report.
    • Compare crate slips to JDE transactions.
    • Obtain crate sheet variance report from Dispatch and compare to actual crate slips.
    • Ensure Dispatch KPI report matches the physical crate count.
    • Ensure every route has a baseline per customer per route reconciled monthly.

    • Ensure crates that do not belong to Sunshine Bakery are segregated from Sunshine crates.

    Crate Administration:

    • Ensure crate sheets are filled in correctly daily during driver debrief.
    • Check previous day crate sheets and call drivers daily to follow up on shortages and record variances.
    • Ensure drivers complete a crate sheet for the next day with correct balances.
    • Add and update new customers on crate sheets and report on lost customers to Sales.
    • Reconcile a KPI report for damaged crates monthly.
    • Report monthly losses and gains.
    • Email all weekly and monthly reports timeously.
    • Maintain daily verbal communication with drivers, van assistants, and route controllers.
    • Communicate daily with Dispatch and the Sales team.

    Stock Management:

    • Verify stock handovers.

    • Identify and monitor maintenance KPIs to track performance and flag any issues.  
    • Plan, structure and lead the execution of site improvement projects using appropriate processes and tools.  
    • Identify, generate the business case, motivate, plan and manage implementation of capital projects.  
    • Leverage onsite support from process and engineering optimisation teams to deliver on the project mandate.
    • Coordinate input and develop 5 year manufacturing capital plans, including equipment selection and review.
    • Coordinate development of scope of work, request for quotations, tender evaluations and adjudications of projects.
    • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects, and ensure that all contractors meet SLAs.
    • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
    • Monitor procurement and escalate roadblocks to management to prevent project delays
    • Measure and report on project performance and expenditure against project budgets using appropriate tools and techniques.  
    • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
    • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared and communicated to management
    • Ensure resource availability and allocation
    • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
    • Evaluate the work standards and sign off all projects to the original BOQ and agreed project standards as per the contract
    • Ensure all projects are fully integrated into operations and maintenance systems through effective handover
    • Carry out standbys  as per packaging production and technical support requirements
    • Promote and adhere to RCL Food’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

    The incumbent will be responsible for managing the Electrical Department by ensuring that the maintenance of the plant and equipment is carried out safely, effectively, and efficiently, at the lowest possible cost and contribute to the optimum operation of the mill.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • B-Tech/BSc or Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or equivalent qualifications.
    • 3 – 5 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer/Manager.
    • Sugar industry engineering experience and 10-week SMRI certificate will be a distinct advantage,
    • Computer literacy is essential,
    • Government Certificate of Competency for Factories
    • (GCC) will be an added advantage.
    • Knowledge of maintenance schedules and inspection, SHE procedures and budget and cost control
    • Working knowledge of the OHS Act and other relevant engineering legislations.
    • Registration as a Professional in terms of the Engineering Professionals of South Africa Act, 114 of 1990 will be an added advantage.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Implement and maintain strategies that will provide assurance of electrical plant availability, integrity and reliability.
    • Constantly investigate and drive electrical change management practices, in line with Engineering standards and requirements.
    • Development, setting and upholding of sound engineering and maintenance management practices and procedures,
    • Ensure that the quality of work performed by the electrical team conforms to mill specifications and established Engineering standards.
    • Compile and control expenditure on maintenance, materials, employment, and capital budgets.
    • Develop maintenance plan for the season, off crop as well as short and long stops, to minimize LTA and maximising Overall Time Efficiency (OTE).
    • List of critical spares and identify Electrical risks in order to ensure minimum downtime and to eliminate unnecessary stores stock holding.
    • Conceptualise, develop, and deliver capital improvement plan, and delivery of all planned and unplanned electrical projects.
    • Provide technical input and support for setting up and optimisation of the plant.
    • Performance management, including coaching and development of employees.
    • Report and investigate accidents, incidents and implement preventative measures.

    Management Accountant - Durban

    Job Description    

    • RCL FOODS is seeking a versatile Management Accountant to join the team! RCL FOODS needs a strong decision maker with innovative thinking to join our forces.

    The main purpose of the role is to:

    • Provide Commercial Front End support to the customer team to enable strategic decision-making regarding profitability, product feasibility and innovation.
    • To deliver enhanced customer and product profitability information designed to unlock margin opportunities and assist in focused strategic decision-making.
    • This role will also provide direct support to the Commercial Manager by working on tactical and strategic projects.

    The position will be based at RCL FOODS offices in Durban or Johannesburg

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Preferably a CIMA or CA(SA)
    • Preferably 3 to 5 years management accounting experience, incorporating commercial costing and some exposure to processing or manufacturing environments

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Profitability Analysis & Reporting

    • Design dashboards which deliver consolidated insight into performance of customer profitability and which focus to the delivery of the Strategic yearly agenda as set out for the Function
    • Drive enhanced customer and product profitability information designed to unlock margin opportunities and recommend ways to optimise customer and product profitability.
    • Support the customer and marketing teams in the use of system tools regarding costing and profitability
    • Monthly feedback and analysis on the financial performance of the Product and Customers performance
    • Identify opportunities for value added reporting to improve the quality and content of reporting and message management.
    • Business partner with the OU commercial team to understand cost allocations on profitability reporting tool

    Budgeting and Forecasting

    • Assist and review results of the budgeting and S&OP forecasting process.
    • Provide input on forecasted profitability enabling mix optimisation for the S&OP process.

    Customer Pricing Support

    • Calculate and provide prompt and accurate pricing information for price reviews.
    • Compile robust cost support and presentations to assist the customer team to having a meaningful engagement with customers
    • Where required, attend the pricing reviews to settle pricing with customers
    • Assist in the compilation of individual customer price lists to be used by customer team as tools in pricing discussions and to process deals.
    • Provide continuous pricing support regarding profitability to ensure that products are sold at targeted margins.
    • Ensure product and channel profitability objectives are achieved

    Product Costing

    • Provide indicative “what-if” costings and impact on profitability for:
      • New product development
      • Specification changes
      • Other proposed R&D approved amendments.
    • Work closely with Business Unit commercial teams to facilitate an understanding of and ensure that the most current costs (both production and distribution) are used when reporting on profitability.
    • Conduct product reviews and report to the Business Units on:
      • Product performance and history
      • Market positioning
      • Growth strategy and opportunity margin improvement opportunities.

    New Product Development

    • Attend NPD / MDT meetings on new products and provide commercial insight and capacity to the marketing function.
    • Ensure products are costed accurately and profitability remains the high priority.

    Net Revenue Management and Commercial Insight/Technical Expertise

    • Provide calculations, detailed analysis and associated recommendations emanating from all queries that arise because of changes in business operations, the economic climate or potentially might offer more profitable solutions.
    • Provide expertise in management team meetings to internal clients and colleagues and recommend solutions based on insights and findings.
    • Perform quadrant analysis to review product performance, and propose optimized promotion mix and SKU rationalization.
    • Work with customer team to perform ROI on promotional activities to unlock key insights.
