    Snr Manager Partnerships

    Short Description / Purpose of Job

    The new Green Hydrogen Capital Mega- projects will require the creation of an eco-system of partners to help bridge key capability gaps across the project value chain and drive a win-win partnership approach that adequately shares risk and reward amongst the partners involved. This role will lead the development and implementation of partnership strategies for the Green Hydrogen capital mega-project, applying the understanding of current and future opportunities and project progress.

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

    • Develop a clear view of target risk-reward levels for Sasol at each stage of the project value chain, attempting to achieve those risk-reward levels through strategic partnerships.
    • Frame key trade-offs when making decisions around what’s best for the Project vs. what’s best for Sasol and enable Partnership decision-making at project leaderships level.
    • Build and maintain relationships with partners to maximise commercial value helping the Project close key capability gaps by leveraging strategic partnerships.
    • Work with Low Carbon Energy Solutions, the Project team and the VP Business and Commercial to define requirements, identify and screen potential partners and onboard strategic partners into fit-for-purpose commercial constructs (working with Finance and Legal Teams) and ensure that all commercial levers are explored when delivering project opportunities (with the objective of maximizing value for Sasol).
    • Support negotiations for new strategic partnerships (at the Project level) and on-board these partners via fit-for-purpose commercial framework agreements – e.g. co-operation agreements, partners agreement, etc.
    • Work alongside Project Management and Engineering Team to ensure alignment between the Partnership Strategies and the Project Execution and Capital Procurement.
    • You will work closely with functions such as Low Carbon Energy Solutions (aligning on portfolio level partnership strategies and off-take partnerships) and Mergers & Acquisitions.
    • Work with the Hydrogen Programme Management team to set up and track Project specific partnership KPIs and review partnership performance (including realisation of synergies), exiting partners where performance is not up to standard.

    Formal Education

    • University Bachelor’s Degree,

    Postgraduate degree or MBA advantageous

    Min Experience

    12+ relevant years

    Wish:

    • Experience in establishing strategic partnerships in large integrated projects such as Hydrogen, LNG, gas and power projects
    • Experience of working on projects at the various stages of development, including feasibility and concept selection
    • Understanding of steps required for development of projects from concept into operations

    Principal Specialist Supply Chain

     Description / Purpose of Job

    Oversee and execute Supply Chain design solutions for the Green Hydrogen capital mega-project, with the support of business resources and/or external service providers (consultants) from (pre) feasibility up to start-up. 

    Engage with the various streams in the project as well as centres of excellence in Sasol to stay abreast of changes and best practices in the supply chain field that can impact the initiative (i.e. product stewardship, commercial, ESD).

    Identify cross-business supply chain integration opportunities that will drive the optimum green hydrogen supply chain delivery and identify localisation opportunities in the green hydrogen supply chains. 

    Provide specific, end-to-end supply chain design knowledge / expertise across various green hydrogen and derivative market development opportunities.

    Apply targeted, fit-for-purpose analysis and modelling of supply chain scenarios for various green hydrogen market development opportunities.

    Leverage the functional capabilities in the organisation (e.g. Energy Operations Procurement, Supply Chain Base Chemicals) to craft and deliver the Supply Chain solution.

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

    • Define the required deliverables for the specific initiative against the Sasol Project and Business development and implementation framework
    • Determine the optimum approach to achieve the required outputs
    • Develop and deliver on the end-to-end supply chain solution
    • Manage internal supply chain work group (and consultants where relevant)
    • Utilise existing supply chain structures and delivery models in the execution of green hydrogen initiatives
    • Determine and quantify supply chain risks to the project at the given project stage
    • Provide management and project feedback on deliverables and progress
    • Engage with the various streams in the project as well as centres of excellence in Sasol to stay abreast of changes and best practices in the supply chain field that can impact the initiative (i.e. product stewardship, commercial, ESD).
    • Establish a network of stakeholders to support green hydrogen supply chain initiatives
    • Understand project execution structures and the integration requirements between supply chain and the various other teams in the project

    Identify cross-business supply chain integration opportunities that will drive the optimum green hydrogen supply chain delivery and identify localisation opportunities in the green hydrogen supply chains. 

    • Interact with key stakeholders in the Supply Chain environment to ensure strategic and tactical alignment. This includes, but is not limited to Category Management, Marine Logistics, Energy Mobility.
    • Identify opportunities where the supply chain strategies from different business units can be complimented through an integrative approach.
    • Where applicable, identify suitable opportunities to drive localisation in the project execution and after beneficial operation.

    Provide specific, end-to-end supply chain design knowledge / expertise across various green hydrogen and derivative market development opportunities.

    • Stay abreast of the developments in the green hydrogen supply chains.
    • Understand the impact of new developments and research on plant maintenance and operations, product handling, storage and transportation.
    • Provide advice and insight on supply chain applications in the green hydrogen value chains.

    Apply targeted, fit-for-purpose analysis and modelling of supply chain scenarios for various green hydrogen market development opportunities.

    • Develop re-usable models to determine channel cost, inventory levels, storage capacity etc.

    Drive capability and capacity building in the Sasol Supply Chain environments to enable green hydrogen supply chains. 

    • Provide input into the Sasol Supply Chain organisations regarding the capacity and capability required to execute green hydrogen initiatives.
    • Drive initiatives to ensure capacity creation and capability improvement.

    Formal Education

    Relevant University Bachelor’s Degree,

    Postgraduate degree or MBA advantageous

    Min Experience

    • 12+ relevant years’ experience in Supply Chain
    • 5 years relevant experience in capital projects
