    TuksSport: Judo Head-Coach (Part-Time Fixed Term)

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    The incumbent will be responsible for: 

    • Develop and ensure the optimal functioning and execution of TuksSport coaching philosophy as it relates to TuksJudo. 
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching strategy that is aligned with the club’s, team's and/or individual’s performance plans, periodisation, goals, and objectives. 
    • Create and execute effective training programmes to enhance the athletes’ performance, including but not limited to developing technical and tactical skills. 
    • Design and coordinate the implementation of coaching best practices and protocols as agreed upon with the club manager and other technical personnel within TuksJudo, for the individuals within the high-performance squad, based on their specific needs. 
    • Develop, influence, and maintain relationships with external, provincial, and national coaches and federations to contribute and influence the sport through best practices, shared knowledge, and creating opportunities for athlete development pathways. 

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Judo Coaching 

     OR 

    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Judo Coaching 

    AND 

    • Judo South Africa Level 1 Coaching Certificate 
    • Registered as a coach with a Judo union/association (if applicable) 
    • Valid driver’s license 

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Criminal record certificate; 
    • Sexual offender’s clearance certificate; 
    • Child offender clearance certificate.

    Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Drama ( Interdisciplinary Performance Praxis)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate will be required to:

    • Provide theoretical and practical teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in at least two of the following areas: Writing, Performance, Digital Media, Directing and Theatre-Making, Scenography, and Drama and Film Studies.
    • Undertake academic administration and other duties as determined by the Departmental Chair and/or the Head of the School of the Arts. 
    • Be involved in module and curriculum development.
    • Contribute creative research outputs and scholarly publications.
    • Supervise creative projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    • Supervise postgraduate research at the appropriate level.
    • Participate in the School of the Arts’ and the Department’s strategic initiatives relating to teaching, research, and community engagement.
    • Liaise with relevant stakeholders within and outside the Faculty of Humanities.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    LECTURER

    • A Master’s degree in Drama/Theatre/Performance Studies, or a related field;
    • A portfolio of professional creative work;
    • Accredited research outputs appropriate to the post level
    • The equivalent of two (2) years of tertiary teaching or tutoring experience. This may include block and/or temporary teaching.

    SENIOR LECTURER: 

    • A Doctoral degree in Drama/Theatre/Performance Studies, or a related field;
    • A portfolio of professional creative work;
    • At least five (5) years of tertiary teaching experience;
    • Evidence of successful design and implementation of courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels;  
    • Proven supervision to completion of at least two (2) master’s students;
    • Accredited research outputs (publications, conference papers) appropriate to the post level 

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

    Senior Lecturer -School of Health Systems and Public Health : Faculty of Health Sciences

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

    • Undertaking teaching, learning, and research, encompassing the development, coordination, and presentation of Health Promotion, Public Health Nutrition/ Sexual and Reproductive Health, and Public Health modules; 
    • Participating actively in teaching core modules offered by the school;
    • Providing dedicated supervision for MPH, MSc, and PhD students within the School of Health Systems and Public Health (SHSPH), 
    • Fostering a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and rigorous scholarly inquiry;
    • Strengthening the school’s research portfolio in Health Promotion and Public Health Nutrition/ Sexual and Reproductive Health, 
    • Engaging in collaborative research initiatives within the faculty and across the University, as well as with local and international public health scientists;
    • Securing research grants/funding to support research and postgraduate students;

    Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (Fixed Term Contract) - School of Health Systems and Public Health - Faculty of Health Sciences

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

    • Teaching Epidemiology and Biostatistics modules to postgraduate students’;
    • Updating course content and revising study guides for modules related to epidemiology and biostatistics;

    Associate Professor/Professor and Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning (Term Appointment)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will be responsible, among others, for the following duties:

    • Carrying out academic, managerial, and administrative responsibilities in the Office of the Dean.

    • A minimum of five (5) years of academic management experience in a higher education institution
    • Proven, ongoing track record of excellence in leading teams in academic programme development and implementation
    • Proven leadership experience in inter-faculty undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
    • Proven extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and postgraduate supervision
