    Specialisation Head – Engineering

    Minimum Qualification:

    • Engineering degree or equivalent. Registration as a Pr.Eng with the Engineering Council of South Africa would be an advantage

    Minimum Year's Experience:

    • 10+ years sugar operations experience at senior manager level with relevant on-site sugar milling cross engineering functional leadership experience

    Minimum Skills:

    • Sugar equipment design and sugar mill Energy and Mass Balance compilation and review experience

    Responsibilities

    • Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of Specialisation Head – Engineering in the Specialisation section of the Manufacturing function, based at the ISA Head Office in Ridgeside, Umhlanga. Reporting to the Manufacturing Head, the successful incumbent will be expected to ensure the highest quality of engineering specialist support services are provided exceeding minimum standards and aligned with internal & external best practices.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    •  Ensures each individual area of Specialisation (Mechanical, Steam and Power Generation, Automation, Electrical, Technical Equipment Supply) has developed a medium- and long-term support approach
    •  Sets minimum standards for the approach to servicing business unit requests, including governance thereof
    •  Coordinates codification of minimum standards and ways of working for the discipline
    •  Establishes specialization-specific SME Communities of Practice to leverage in-country expertise
    •  Ensures specialist engineering services are provided in line with internal & external best practice and that SLA’s enable direct access for in-Country teams
    •  Builds and manages relationships with key stakeholders for outsourced areas of engineering specialisation that support Illovo
    •  Ensures Illovo Group understands the costs, timelines and processes for requesting specialist services from ISA
    •  Manages and leverages a consolidated view of queries to inform decisions to use permanent FTEs or outsourced resources
    •  Coordinates deployment of specialist engineering resourcing in-country (incl. determining whether outsourcing is required)
    •  Ensures internal & external resources are engaged in answering optimization queries to achieve the best results at the lowest cost
    •  Provides Group-wide input into key decisions and reports that require specialist engineering expertise (e.g. capital projects, insurance, interviews for critical roles, training, reward target setting)
    •  Provides design expertise where required for sugar milling equipment and capital projects
    •  Co-Creation of selected strategic capital projects
    •  Validates and enhances Group Technical Risk Engineering audit items and assurance
    •  Actively monitors & improves the quality of specialist engineering support provided using feedback systems
    •  Supports ISA Procurement through technical input into group procurement contracts
    •  Supports ISA Agriculture through provision of electrical engineering expertise

    SPECIFICATIONS:

    •  Working knowledge of Illovo equipment (current and required)
    •  Track record of technical credibility and building effective relationships at sugar sites
    •  Proven ability to lead and manage a group of technical experts, and effectively prioritize support
    •  Proven ability to provide clear direction, achieve alignment and ensure delivery of set objectives
    •  Strong international sugar equipment supply and design networks
    •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to build strong relationships, coach and influence stakeholders at all levels
    •  Strategic thinking & cross functional integration
    •  Willingness to go the extra mile and work beyond normal hours of work, where required, to meet deadlines

    Organisational Effectiveness [OE] Analytics & Governance Specialist

    Minimum Qualification:

    • Degree (Business / Finance / Organisational Psychology or equivalent)

    Minimum Year's Experience:

    • 5 years' experience with minimum 3 years' experience in business analytics

    Minimum Skills:

    • OE / Performance Management / L&D / Workforce Planning

    Responsibilities

    Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of OE Analytics & Governance Specialist in the ABF Sugar People and Performance team based of Durban, South Africa or London and Peterborough, United Kingdom. Reporting to the OE Director, the successful incumbent will be responsible for providing data analytics, trends and insights to inform OE decision-making for the Division.

    Key Performance Areas:

    •  Provides diagnostic and analytic support for the development of business cases for complex organizational redesigns, division-wide L&D programs and large-scale OE or culture shift interventions
    •  Develops OE, OD, L&D and PM dashboards and reports, and generate analytics and insights to inform prioritisation and decision making
    •  Quantifies value impact of possible and potential OE scenarios to aid decision making
    •  Supports with content and visual representation of data and information to aid decision making
    •  Manages people analytics within large-scale OE, OD and L&D projects
    •  Tracks and reports on value delivered vs. plan and return on investment for all OE, OD and L&D initiatives
    •  Coordinates the organizational design governance process and maintain data base of changes, records and related collateral
    •  Ensures cost and savings are reflected in budgets and overall integrated financial model
    •  Establishes and manages interfaces with HR Partners in the ABFS Centre and Business Units regarding organizational design changes, records and related collateral
    •  Provides guidance on minimum standards for Performance Management across the Division, including the cycle of performance management activities and ensure alignment with Talent Management processes
    •  Provides support for ensuring Executive goals align with strategic priorities and are cascaded
    •  Ensures Performance Management outcomes feed into people decisions (Reward, Talent Management, Learning and Development)
    •  Designs and manages the performance data infrastructure (database, KPI tree and performance visualisation, scorecards and trackers)
    •  Provides trends and insights from quantitative & qualitative data to inform high performer growth rate and performance culture
    •  Designs, develops and drive adoption of fit-for-purpose resources to support improvement of Performance Management systems active across the Division

    Specifications:

    •  Impressive, demonstrable track record and skills/experience gained within a similar position(s), at a similar level
    •  Sound business acumen
    •  Demonstrated strong analytical capabilities, with a flair for working with numbers, identifying patterns and trends and possessing the ability to transform data into meaningful insights
    •  Excellent attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to provide quality assurance of data

    Responsibilities

Reporting to the OE Director, the successful incumbent will be responsible for identifying and enabling the operating model and capability shifts that are needed to execute the divisional strategy.

    Key Performance Areas:

    •  Develops an in-depth understanding of divisional and business unit strategic priorities, culture and performance measures
    •  Partners with senior business leaders and HR across the Division to lead diagnostics and resultant design of strategic, cross-functional complex OE, OD and culture transformation projects and initiatives
    •  Partners with senior business leaders and HR across the Division to identify capabilities most critical for strategy execution now and in the future and how to plan for their acquisition and/or development
    •  Partners with COEs to improve their effectiveness, while ensuring alignment and coordination across multiple functions
    •  Supports the Divisional and Business Unit leaders with diagnostics and interventions to enable the desired shifts in culture
    •  Provides expert input and guidance to Business Unit leaders on specific OE, OD and culture challenges and improvements intended to build capability and drive business performance
    •  Designs, develops and drives adoption of fit-for-purpose interventions to support improvement of organizational effectiveness across the Division and within individual Business Units
    •  Provides full spectrum of Organisational Design expertise and input into high-value, complex re-designs and support implementation through to anchoring the changes
    •  Seeks external emerging trends and best practices in Organisational Effectiveness to share with Business Leaders and internal communities of practice
    •  Provides trends and insights from qualitative and quantitative data to inform the evolution of organizational operating model(s), culture and capability requirements for the future
