    Senior Buyer

    Job purpose

    • As Senior Buyer your mission is to build an efficient and optimal supplier network, ensuring indirect and direct purchases are sourced at the right price, time, quality and quantity; in line with the local procurement policies and BBBEE legislation, whilst minimizing supply/ demand risk to the organization. 

    Main responsibilities

    • Purchase goods at the right price, time, quality and quantity. 
    • Ensure the procurement of local parts and drilling consumables are in line with inventory requirements, stock is replenished and expediated where necessary. 
    • Work closely with product support to source local parts which have been replaced or discontinued. 
    • Review and make recommendations on local pricing via the Pricing department. 
    • Build relationships with local suppliers, continuously evaluating their performance, negotiating the best price and ensuring BBBEE compliance. 
    • Perform market research and benchmark suppliers to assure the best possible conditions. Manage the tender process when required. 
    • Raise purchase orders, follow-up on open orders and deliveries, and oversee supplier payments to ensure Epiroc accounts are not placed on stop supply. 
    • Communicate to all stakeholders in a proactive and timely manner resulting in resolution of concerns or requested information. 
    • Identify, initiate and lead cost reduction projects. 
    • Create and improve sourcing routines and processes. 
    • Support SHEQ with supplier audits.

    Required Competencies

    • Knowledge of supply chain and procurement.
    • Financial acumen. 
    • Good communication and negotiation skills. 
    • Self-motivated, able to work independently and under pressure. 
    • Good computer skills. 

    Experience

    • 5-7 years within the buying function. 
    • Competence with ERP software.
    • Experience within the mining industry advantageous.

    Education

    • Tertiary degree in procurement, logistics or Supply Chain.

    • Collaborate with experienced R & D engineers and professionals on various projects within your assigned department.
    • Assist in the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects.
    • Perform research, data analysis, and technical evaluations to support project goals.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of engineering solutions and innovations.
    • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations.
    • Participate in safety and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with industry standards.
    • Actively engage in professional development opportunities and training programs.

    Skills, Competences and Experience: 

    • Strong academic record
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
    • Basic knowledge of engineering principles and concepts.

    Educational Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree, B Tech in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical on Mechatronic)

    Cable Repairer

    Main duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide trailing cable repairs to the required Epiroc and Customer standards for Quality
    • Report writing and assessment of Trailing Cable Condition
    • Managing of Orders Received and backorders
    • Supporting Service Administrators with development of Quotations for Cable Repair work
    • Liaise with clients on work in progress at the direction of the Cable Repair Supervisor
    • Support other EES Functions of the business when required
    • Travel to site for on-site cable repairs
    • Work Overtime as and when required
    • Ensure repair and manufacturing work on-time, within budget and to meet the relevant Quality and Safety Standards
    • Adhere to Epiroc Code of Conduct
    • Adhere to Epiroc and site specific safety regulations
    • Submission of timesheets and utilization of 85% billable hours

    Competencies, skills and experience:

    • Strong communication skills
    • Computer literacy
    • Good customer relations
    • Good telephone manners and skills
    • Good product knowledge
    • Interpersonal skills to work with customers and suppliers and to work as part of the Technical Support team
    • Selling technical skills
    • Be able to work independently without supervision
    • Be presentable to customers in grooming and dress code
    • Be able to manage and prioritise workload and backorders
    • Code 10 Drivers License

    Educational Qualification:

    • Grade 12
    • Technical qualification (Electrician/Millwright)
    • Experience on underground TMM equipment.
