    Senior Lecturer: Business Management

    The Department of Business Management strives to be pioneering in terms of research and teaching related to the management sciences. This is achieved through cross-cutting research that also assists the practitioner-policy press concerning the management of businesses.
    Minimum Requirements:

    • An appropriate doctoral qualification in Business Management or related field
    • At least five (5) years’ experience in a higher education environment or three (3) years in a higher education environment plus relevant industry experience
    • Proven experience in teaching either marketing or human resource management
    • A proven research record supported by publications in DHET accredited journals
    • Evidence of postgraduate supervision record at masters and doctoral level

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Teaching and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate students
    • Participate in curriculum design and implementation of newly accredited programmes
    • Assist with preparation of new programmes for approval and accreditation by relevant bodies in the country within a problem and case based teaching environment
    • Attract funding and conduct research in business management or related fields
    • Supervise postgraduate research in business management or related fields
    • Participate in public engagement activities within the University
    • Academic administration and citizenship

    Student Accounts Administrator: Finance-Student Fees

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

    QUALIFICATION

    • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting

    EXPERIENCE

    • 1 Years’ experience in a student finance division at a Higher Education Institution
    • Knowledge of ERP System
    • Good interpersonal as well as sound communication skills
    • Added Advantage: Working knowledge of ITS (Student Debtors Sub System).

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Accurate processing of payments received from debtors.
    • Attend to students’ enquiries within 48 hours of queries being received.
    • Process refunds in line with the policies and procedures
    • Adherence to all procedures and policies of the Student Accounts Office
    • Maintain customer service in line with the service charter of the unit.
    • Coaching and mentoring of interns assigned to the unit.
    • Perform any other duties as directed by supervisors.

    • Undertakes on-going communication with students relating to all aspects of student income and to ensure the prompt and accurate dispatch of statements.
    • Ensure that all Fees charged are correct and that all students are charged accordingly.
    • Implement principles of customer care in assisting and advising students
    • Capture ITS data affecting Student Accounts, to ensure accurate and prompt amendments
    • Ensure that all journals are processed in line with sound accounting principles
    • Design and develop work flow processes and submit to the HOD: Students Accounts.
    • Perform any other duties as directed by supervisors.

    Director: Finance

    Main purpose/ objective

    • This position primarily provides proactive support to the financial discipline and CFO on ensuring delivery of objectives across the areas of Financial Accounting and Treasury, Payroll, Asset Management, Financial Statements Preparation, Tax Compliance and External Audit. It also manages progress on responsibilities flowing from the annual reporting calendar, together with the CFO.

    Key job functions

    • Group financial reporting/external auditing
    • Corporate financing, financial analysis, and modelling
    • Operational finance
    • Financial compliance/governance/risk management
    • Specific Finance assignments/project management
    • Finance capacity development and automation

    Minimum qualifications and experience

    • Chartered Accountant, CA (SA) or Masters in Accounting /MCOMPT
    • A minimum of 8 years’ working experience in Finance/Audit/Tax environment in a large and complex organisation.
    • Proven 3 Years’ experience working as a Financial Accountant/Manager or in a commercial /technical accounting environment.

    Skills and competencies – The following are the skills and competencies required for the position:

    • Relevant Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
    • Expert knowledge in the use of financial software, ERP applications, databases,   spreadsheets, and/or word processing. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • In-depth knowledge of financial accounting, IFRS, financial regulations, compliance, and financial reporting.
    • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, tight deadlines and intense pressure to perform.
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
    • Strong leadership skills, as well as skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
    • Ability to coach and mentor others to develop their technical financial capacity.
    • Experience in  managing and motivating team members.
    • Understanding of management principles and how to create a sense of teamness.
    • Public Sector or Higher education experience will be an added advantage.
