Purpose of Role

• The Engineering Specialist Conveyor Belts is a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the MHS Act and is responsible to supervise Foremen and Artisans on the shaft. The Engineering Specialist Conveyor Belts will be responsible for conveyor belts on Union Mine.

 Work of Role

• Administration of necessary systems
• Ensure process remains fully operational
• Undertake to plan the critical spares requirements/availability according to the planned maintenance schedule and ensure their availability
• Liaise with the mine management team regarding daily, weekly and monthly progress to plan, budget and employee resources
• Oversee that all work practices are executed in compliance with legal requirements
• Evaluate, monitor and provide continuous feedback to the section regarding the performance efficiencies, standards of the section labour, equipment, budget and process targets
• Oversee the quality of workmanship and conduct regular inspections around all sections of the conveyor belts

 Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Trade Certificate
• Law and Standards with Supervisory Courses

 Experience

• Minimum of 5 years post trade qualified experience and a minimum of 5 years’ experience as Senior Engineering Foreman

 Knowledge and Skills

• English Literate
• Basic Computer Literacy (Word/Excel/Outlook)
• Valid Driver's Licence

Purpose of Role

• The Foreman Electrical is a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and is responsible for the supervision of artisans in the maintenance and installation of electrical equipment and services. It includes the administration and management of assigned resources within the designated area towards effective operation of the operational unit. Work according to regulations and all laws relevant to the tasks.

Work of Role

• Administration of necessary systems
• Electrical installations and equipment operate at specification
• Maintains equipment and working areas at ‘Zero Tolerance’ compliance
• Ensure inspections and use of hazardous machinery and equipment comply to legal and mine requirements
• Supervises the installation and maintenance of all electrical units and components thereof
• Monitors operational effectiveness of electrical cabling and power distribution facilities
• Ensure that the process remains fully operational
• Promotes team concepts

 Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Electrician Trade Certificate
• Medium Voltage Certificate
• Law and Standards with Supervisory Courses

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years posttrade qualified experience
• Supervisory experience

Knowledge and Skills

• English Literate
• Basic Computer Literacy (Word/Excel/Outlook/Delta)
• Valid Driver's Licence

Purpose of Role

• The Boilermaker Plater needs provides engineering technical service to underground area. Maintain, install and commission of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.

 Work of Role

• Conducts and participate in risk assessments
• Attend to breakdowns and emergencies as required
• Records results of all legal examinations in the appropriate format
• Maintains a high quality of work
• Completing job cards and description of work and spares used (PM’s)
• Applying appropriate tools to complete tasks
• Provide timely and accurate information
• Ensure that material, spares, and equipment are available as required
• Comply to environmental requirements
• Report at risk behaviour, incidents, and injuries

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Boilermaker Trade Certificate

 Experience

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Boilermaker Plater in the mining environment

Knowledge and Skills

• English Literate (speak, read and write)
• Basic Computer Literacy
• Must be familiar with risk assessments procedures
• Must be able to do standby and overtime
• Valid Driver's Licence

Purpose of Role

• The Engineering Assistant provides a pool of support of multidiscipline engineering, technical skills and is required to support all the Engineering Foreman/Artisan to whom the individual is allocated to perform low complexity high volume work.

 Work of Role

• Ensure that all required tools, material and spares are available to perform tasks
• General labour support, multi  discipline
• Material and workshop machinery and equipment control
• Use of engineering tools
• Loading, dispatching material and equipment to work sites
• Provides assistance to all trades (Artisans) with activities within and without the team
• Ensure tool availability
• Help operational employees to maintain equipment in area of responsibility
• Accompany Artisan when inspecting and completing tasks

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Maths and Science
• Engineering Assistant Certificate of Competency

 Experience

• Minimum 2 year's relevant experience in engineering

 Knowledge and Skills

• Communication in English (spoken, written and reading)
• Semiskilled with various certificate skills Engineering  Advantageous
