    Technical Advisor (Witbank)

    PURPOSE

    This position exists to support and contribute to the work of the GM and Management Team in delivering the business objectives of FAMP.

    RESPONSIBILITES

    Safety & Health

    • Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
    • Act as a role model and reinforce a workplace culture where safety and health for the site are paramount.
    • Collect and summaries the specific risks within the working area and implement plans/systems to avoid these risks.
    • Review and assess the impact of critical risks and monitor the effectiveness of critical controls relevant to the work area.
    • Identify PUEs and monitor critical controls.
    • Engage in physical safety checks, interventions, and coaching (VFL – visible field leadership)

    Operational Performance & Delivery

    • Helps to shape the work of the GM and the BUMs by proactively providing future-focused inputs that anticipate and respond to business challenges and opportunities across the business.
    • Facilitates team effectiveness of the GM's team through active management of the information flow between team members.
    • Assist the GM, BI Team, and Business Unit Managers (BUMs), Finance team by developing and preparing memorandums, periodic and ad-hoc reports, presentations, and communications regarding decisions and messaging or other deliverables as required to internal and external stakeholders. This support may include innovative ideas to improve the performance and sustainability of the business.
    • Facilitate the GM's engagement and messaging to all stakeholders, working with the Management and Communications team members as required; this may include managing high-profile client visits, media events and interactions with employees, leaders, customers, and communities.
    • Engage with Management Teams to ensure adequate briefing and preparation for GM or other relevant Manco meetings.
    • Coordinates the seamless delivery of work from the GM's office. This includes preparing or providing input to papers, reports, presentations, decision support material communications or other deliverables from the GM to internal and external stakeholders

    Strategic Management

    • Understands the complete Fraser Alexander's strategic goals to be achieved by 2025.
    • Works through BI Team to track and monitor Fraser Alexander's Strategic goals implementation and work with team members to correct any variations
    • Facilitates team effectiveness of the GM (including direct reports) through active management of the flow of information between members of the team.

    Reporting

    • Generate regular operational performance reports by working closely with BI and other divisions.
    • Supports and, in some cases, leads the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects or initiatives that are sponsored by (or require input from) the GM.
    • Coordinate meetings by ensuring timeous action close-out.
    • Other reporting requirements as assigned by the BUM or GM
    • Provide technical input and assistance to the GM and BUMs on any presentations and reports as required by the GM.
    • Supports and sometimes leads the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects or initiatives the GM sponsors.
    • Innovation
    • Be involved in identifying innovations to improve the business and work of the role.
    • Identify solutions to mitigate business and safety risks. Collect and summaries the specific risks within the working area and implement plans/systems to avoid these risks

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • A tertiary level/ post-graduate qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Business/ Commerce, Finance, Management, or a Technical discipline) or equivalent qualifying NQF level 7 Qualification.

    Experience

    • 5- 10 years of experience in mining operations
    • A demonstrated track record of achievement in roles featuring work and stakeholder engagement at a similar level of complexity
    • Understanding the Fraser Alexander business, including the commercial, operational, safety, people, technology, and innovation levers for value creation within the organisation.
    • Digital acumen and technological literacy (incl. but not limited to MS Office/ collaboration tools).
    • Strong project coordination, planning and time management skills.
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Good communication, conflict handling and interpersonal skills
    • Good quality control skills
    • Commercial acumen.
    • Strong analytical capability.
    • Future focused on global trends relevant to Fraser Alexander and its markets, the mining industry and beyond.
    • Valid Health certificate as per MHSA
    • Driver license (able to drive to mine to attend internal client and external engagements when applicable.)
