    Social Media Manager

    Key Performance Objectives

    Strategy Execution

    • Create and execute the overall social media strategy for sport in multiple regions, with input from teams including PR, marketing, strategy, SuperSport and other relevant business areas.
    • Set KPIs and monitor these monthly with input from data, social media, marketing and in line with the overall business and social media goals
    • Develop a comprehensive content calendar aligned with sports events, tournaments, and cultural moments relevant to each African market.
    • Ensure a balance of promotional content, engaging visuals, user-generated content, and educational material.
    • Collaborate with content creators, designers, and video producers to develop high-quality, culturally relevant content.
    • Curate and share user-generated content, testimonials, and fan interactions to foster community engagement.
    • Oversee the day-to-day management of social media platforms
    • Ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and tone across platforms.
    • Foster a vibrant and engaged community of sports enthusiasts by responding to comments, questions, and feedback in a timely and personalised manner.
    • Regularly analyse social media metrics, including reach, engagement, conversion rates, and audience growth, to track performance against KPIs.
    • Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address any social media issues or incidents swiftly and effectively.

    Reporting

    • Provide insights and recommendations to adapt social media efforts for specific cultural and market nuances.
    • Provide detailed reports and actionable insights to inform future content and campaign strategies.
    • Report on website traffic generated from social media, including the number of visitors, pageviews, and conversion rates for specific goals.
    • Analyze the performance of individual posts and content pieces to determine what types of content resonate best with the audience.
    • Report on changes in the number of followers and fans across social media platforms over specific time periods.
    • Gather and present demographic, geographic, and psychographic insights about the social media audience to help refine targeting strategies.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Work closely with the PR and Crisis Management teams to ensure a cohesive response.
    • Liaise with regional marketing teams to ensure alignment with overall brand and marketing strategies across African markets.
    • Initiate and participate in conversations related to sports trends, events, and news.
    • Identify and collaborate with local sports influencers, athletes, and fan communities to amplify SuperSport reach and credibility.
    • Develop partnerships for co-created content and promotional activities.
    • Work with the paid media team to optimise growth and engagement

    Benchmarking, Governance & Risk Management

    • Keep up to date with all SuperSport legal and design studio compliance requirements to ensure best possible communication.
    • Ensure all content and campaigns adhere to legal and copyright guidelines, especially when using third-party content or user-generated material.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in journalism, communications, or similar field
    • Post Grad will be advantageous
    • Play a key role in a structured decision-making process through planning, monitoring, marketing execution and reporting for the Agency

    Experience & required skills

    • 5-8 years experience in social media and digital marketing with strength in sports marketing – preferably in football.
    • Excellent personal communication and diplomatic skills
    • Working knowledge of various Social Media platforms, Business infrastructure systems and MS Office
    • Ability to relate convincingly and credibly with peers;
    • Ability to conceptualise and implement communication tools;
    • Demonstrable competency in planning and execution;
    • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
